Queen Royal - Queen Elizabeth II news: How King George VI KNEW Her Majesty would be great monarch - Duration: 2:31.

Elizabeth II has long remained committed to her duty to serve every Commonwealth nation since she took to the throne in 1952

Today, at the age of 92, the head of state stands as the the world's oldest and longest-reigning living monarch

She is the nation's 40th monarch and her rule has seen 13 British Prime Ministers, 13 US Presidents and seven popes

Much has been made of the Queen's devotion to duty, above all else, sometimes even at the expense of family matters

2015 documentary "the Majestic Life of Queen Elizabeth II" reveals that the Queen's father, King George VI, saw that devotion to duty already when she was in the cot

Royal correspondent Camilla Tominey said: "King George said from a very early age Elizabeth seemed very regal

"Even as a child in the cot. "She seemed to be very much in control of herself and her emotions

" British historian and biographer Robert Lacey added: King George said: 'I look at her and I see Queen Victoria'

"I see the evidence of a great monarch in the making. "We don't need a boy to do the job, she will do it better

" Even before her coronation, Elizabeth had already declared her devotion to fulfilling her role as Head of the Commonwealth

On her 21st birthday, the future monarch delivered an extraordinary speech that moved her to tears because it perfectly depicted how she felt

The most famous line from her speech read: "My whole life, whether it be long or short, shall be devoted to your service and the service of our great imperial family

News24 - Arsenal news: Mesut Ozil's Unai Emery problem will not change like Paul Pogba at Man Utd - Duration: 2:58.

That is the view of former Liverpool and England midfielder Danny Murphy. In January 2018, Ozil signed a new long-term deal worth around £350,000-a-week and was expected to play a key role in Arsenal's future

But after a bright start to the season, Ozil has lost his place in the team, been left out for tactical reasons and suffered niggling injury problems

Ozil's situation echoes that of Paul Pogba at Manchester United with Jose Mourinho before he was sacked in December

Since Mourinho's dismissal, Pogba has flourished under Ole Gunnar Solskjaer with nine goals and six assists in 12 appearances But Murphy feels that while Ozil could do with the freedom Pogba has, he doubts it will happen with Emery

Murphy told SportingBet: "I think there's similarities between Ozil and Pogba in the sense that if you were to give Ozil the safety net of defensive midfielders behind him, he has the freedom to win matches on his own

"Unfortunately, while Pogba was able to overcome Mourinho, I don't expect Ozil to overcome Emery

" Ozil could be handed a chance to revive his Arsenal career tonight when they face BATE Borisov in the Europa League

The German has fully recovered from illness and according to Emery, he has trained well this week

And Emery made clear what he wants from Ozil if he is to be involved regularly with the team

"First, the key in his hands," said Emery. "He's working very well this week and I asked him in our conversation to be consistent, to be available for training

"I said that when you can train with us consistently you can help us with your best performance in the games

"I think this week was good for all the players because we are in a big, important moment for the season

"I am looking at him doing the training like we want. "I know he wants that but he needs consistency, to be available for training and the matches without injuries, without being sick

"Like that, I think we can see the best Mesut."

Chelsea news: Tim Sherwood reveals the clue Maurizio Sarri is about to be sacked - Duration: 2:34.

That is according to Sky s pundit and former Tottenham midfielder and head coach Tim Sherwood

Sarri has been under increased pressure this week following the 2- FA Cup fifth round loss at home to Manchester United on Monday

That result comes off the back of three straight away defeats in the Premier League

Chelsea have fallen to sixth in the table and see their Champions League qualification hopes in doubt

Sherwood does not think Chelsea will sack Sarri before the Carabao Cup final on Sunday

However, he says the club's chiefs usually change managers when they cannot get the best out of the players

And Sherwood says that is exactly what is happening at Stamford Bridge at the moment

"No, I don't think they will do [sack Sarri before Sunday]," Sherwood said.  "It's not beyond the realms of possibility that they will do that

"Chelsea have a history of changing their managers when things aren't going well, especially when the players are not reacting as positively to the manager as they would like

"You'd have to say at this current moment in time, that is not happening after that result the other night

"Not only that but coming off the back of a capitulation against Man City. "It's not about losing games but it's how you lose them

"At the moment they seem to be void of any real grit or determination to get themselves back into a game once they go behind

" Assistant manager Gianfranco Zola is among the favourites to replace Sarri if he was sacked

Zola has been in hospital this week due to a gallstone problem and will be absent for the Europa League last-32 second leg against Malmo on Thursday

Chelsea legend Frank Lampard and former Real Madrid boss Zinedine Zidane are also said to be under consideration

Arsenal spent just £7 million to land the French midfielder from Ligue 2 outfit FC Lorient in the summer - and could make a huge profit if they sell

But Emery said: "His development is like we want. He has a big ambition, big quality

Sometimes we need more quality with him and for him to be more stronger in midfield

"But his development with us is very important and he's playing with big consistency

His quality is very impressive.  "I am surprised (with the link). I don't want this

Man Utd news: Phil Jones sticks the knife into Jose Mourinho with 'laughing stock' claim - Duration: 3:08.

Mourinho was sacked last December with United languishing sixth in the Premier League table and a whopping 11 points off the top four

But since Ole Gunnar Solskjaer took over as interim manager, United are unbeaten in 11 games and moved into the Champions League places after Saturday's convincing 3-0 win at Fulham

And in what appeared to be a dig at former boss Mourinho, Jones made an astonishing claim

"Okay, we might have been a bit of a laughing stock maybe at the start of the season but certainly not now," he said

"We've proven that in the last 10 or 12 games. We're improving, still getting better

" And Jones says he thinks this weekend's 3-0 win over Fulham, when they moved into the top four, could be a big moment for the club

"It was a big game for us," he said. "We knew we could get into the top four. "It's a big statement from where we were, we just need to keep improving and keep picking up points

" The centre-back - who has just signed a new contract to keep him at Old Trafford until 2023 - was asked if it could be a big psychological boost for the players

He replied: "Yeah, huge. Everyone's got to take us seriously now, you know?" Solskjaer echoed Jones' positive comments after watching his side chalk up another victory thanks to a Paul Pogba brace and one from Anthony Martial at Craven Cottage

"The first 10 minutes we made it hard for ourselves but the last 80 minutes pleased me," the Norwegian said

"We managed the game well which you have to do away from home and we played some fantastic football

"The players have some fantastic qualities. I've supported United for many years and as a United fan you go into every game thinking you're going to win it

"We're on a great run but I think the players are feeling the same. On two-goal hero Pogba, he added: "We know how good Paul Pogba is and he scored a great goal

"We want to keep moving forward and hang onto this fourth place. When you win games, you're always happy and I think the crowd will enjoy the trip home

✅ Breaking News - Chelsea fans show they're on Hudson-Odoi's side - Duration: 5:46.

The chants told you everything you needed to know. The clarity of the message that followed Callum Hudson-Odoi's fine goal was matched only by the roars that greeted his name as the teams were read out before kick-off, which were the loudest of the lot

'Hudson-Odoi, we want you to stay.'Those echoes around Stamford Bridge as Hudson-Odoi sealed Chelsea's place in the last 16 of the Europa League left you with little doubt as to whose side the fans are on when it comes to the youngster's future and his treatment by Maurizio Sarri

Share this article Share 17 shares You could almost count the layers to those early cheers

Part of them a release of excitement at the chance to see Chelsea's most talented prospect in action, part of it ironic jeer that, wahey, it's taken long enough

The rest a show of solidarity towards one of their own who has been let down by the man in charge

Chelsea told Hudson-Odoi he must stay at the club despite a £35million bid from German giants Bayern Munich in January, a move which prompted a transfer request from the 18-year-old

His request came not for love of money, having also rejected a new £85,000-a-week contract, or for ideas above his young ambition, but out of the desire to play and to develop - and to do it abroad if he had to

Paris Saint-German are the latest big-gun to court his services. He has seen fellow young, English stars thrive on the continent

Jadon Sancho has enjoyed 22 starts in the Bundesliga for leaders Borussia Dortmund and earned a senior England cap because of it

Even Reiss Nelson has five starts for Hoffenheim.Since the window closed, Sarri has handed Hudson-Odoi a handful of 19 minutes in more than three weeks

Still no Premier League starts, despite Chelsea having lost 4-0 to Bournemouth at the end of January

He was not even in the squad for the 6-0 defeat to Man City. CALLUM HUDSON-ODOI'S RECORD THIS SEASON  Four games Six games, two goals, one assistTwo games, one goal, two assistsOne gameOne game14 games, three goals, three assists It would be understandable, perhaps, if wide rivals Willian and Pedro had been so consistent that Sarri simply had no choice but to keep Hudson-Odoi on the sidelines

Sometimes, he's not even on them. Often he's in the stands. But they haven't. Willian, even if he did set up Chelsea's opening goal, has been directly involved in seven goals in 21 Premier League starts

That's fewer each than Watford defender Jose Holebas and Bournemouth youngster David Brooks to name two of more than 40 other players

Pedro has a slightly better return of eight in 15 starts. And even when Chelsea were losing 2-0 down to Manchester United in the FA Cup three days ago, Sarri brought on defender Davide Zappacosta instead

Hudson-Odoi was left giving Sarri a side-glare so deadly it broke the internet. But here, at last, was a chance for Hudson-Odoi to show his manager that he deserves more of an opportunity

And, would you believe it, he only went and took it. Funny, that. And he had taken it long before he cut inside the box off the right flank with six minutes to go and drilled the ball low into the far corner

There was an early error, mind, when Hudson-Odoi attempted to intercept a Malmo cross, only to divert the ball into the path of opposition captain Markus Rosenberg

Thankfully, for the Chelsea lad at least, the shot fizzed wide. Sarri turned to the bench muttering curses under his breath

After that, though, he was excellent. Hudson-Odoi skipped past three challenges to set up Ross Barkley for a shot

Later he crossed deep for Willian which came to nothing. He attempted 14 dribbles throughout the game

The rest of his team-mates could only muster the same number between them. Nine of them were successful, the same number as Malmo merely attempted

Hudson-Odoi made the most through balls of any team-mate.He is direct. He is dangerous

He makes things happen. He gets the supporters off their seats. They can see it. Some of the biggest clubs in Europe can see it

Sarri, as yet, cannot - or will not. Those fans who are so desperate to see this prodigious young talent stay can only hope their chants echoed between the ears of the Chelsea manager too

If they don't, it's unlikely they will get their wish. Not as long as Sarri is in charge, at least

Liverpool news: Phil Thompson figures out three key selections for Bayern Munich clash - Duration: 2:18.

Liverpool host Bayern Munich in the first leg of their Champions League last-16 tie

The Reds will have to do without star defender Virgil van Dijk, who misses the match through suspension

With Dejan Lovren also injured, Fabinho is set to deputise in the centre of defence alongside Joel Matip

Fabinho moving back leaves a gap in midfield that Thompson wants captain Jordan Henderson to fill

The Sky Sports pundit says Georginio Wijnaldum is a shoe-in alongside Henderson in Liverpool's midfield

And Thompson reckons Naby Keita will get the nod over former Bayern Munich ace Xherdan Shaqiri

"Well I've been giving this quite a bit of thought," Thompson said. "With Fabinho playing at the back, then who is going to [play in midfield]? "I would imagine Jordan Henderson, he's got a lot of experience now

"Jordan will be in that holding role in front [of defence]. "Wijnaldum, who was absolutely top class against Bournemouth, he will play

"Then it's the other side. Does he go with the offensive side of Shaqiri? Ex-Bayern Munich player

"I don't think so, I think he'll go with probably a bit more defensive-minded player and that will be Keita

"He will know from the Bundesliga days, he will know the rivalry with Bayern Munich

"So I think that would be the three and of course the three amigos up front."

Meghan Fashion - Meghan Markle news: Duchess of Sussex exudes Hollywood glamour after New York baby - Duration: 6:19.

Meghan Markle is currently spending time in New York City, ahead of the impending birth of her baby

The Duchess of Sussex, who is due to give birth in spring, will enjoy a baby shower with pals during her stay across the pond

Today, the 37-year-old stepped out of her hotel in a very chic ensemble. She wore a pair of black jeans and a mid-length dark grey tunic

The stylish garment featured a ripple pattern effect. It had a distinctive collar, and had a series of buttons positioned at the centre of the outfit

She teamed the look with a pair of beige high heels, and a matching handbag. Meghan also wore a pair of dark sunglasses for the occasion

She had styled her brunette tresses in a sleek down 'do. It's thought that 15 of Meghan's loved ones had joined her for the baby shower

Pictured arriving at the same hotel today was Megan's former Suits co-star, Abigail Spencer, 37

Outside the hotel, a large box containing a crib was also seen. /life-style/life/1089534/Meghan-Markle-news-baby-Prince-Harry-new-york-pregnant-baby-shower Information on the item soon came to light, thanks to some clear branding on the box

It is the Hudson 3-in-1 convertible crib with toddler bed conversion kit, babyletto

The crib costs $379 (around £290), and comes in a variety of colours. While it is yet to be confirmed as to whether this was in fact a gift for Meghan and Prince Harry, there was a big hint to suggest it could have been

On the side of the box, the words "I come bearing gifts" had been written. Traditionally, mothers-to-be will be given presents by guests at the baby shower

She was later spotted leaving The Met Breuer Museum in New York City. The now retired Suits actor and Prince Harry announced they were expecting their first child together back in October last year

A statement released by Kensington Palace said the Duchess was due in spring. Who is Meghan Markle? Quick profile Meghan Markle was born Rachel Meghan Markle, on August 4, 1981 to parents Doria Ragland and father Thomas Markle

Her father was previously married to Roslyn Loveless and Meghan has two elder half sibling - sister Samantha Markle and brother Thomas Markle Junior

Actress Meghan's first television appearance in the USA was in an episode of the medical drama General Hospital in 2002

She later moved on to roles in CSI, Without a Trace and Castle along with bit parts in Hollywood films including Get Him to the Greek, Remember Me and Horrible Bosses

Meghan was also a "briefcase girl" on Deal or No Deal - but her most famous role was as Rachel Zane in legal drama Suits, which launched in 2011

She was written out in the finale of the seventh series when her character got married, which aired in April 2018 - just before she got married herself

Charity and humanitarian work Meghan Markle's career in television has gone hand-in-hand with her support for causes close to her heart

She wrote about the stigma around menstrual health in an article for Time magazine and was a Global Ambassador for World Vision Canada - with whom she travelled to Rwanda for the charity's Clean Water Campaign

And her commitment to gender equality has seen her work with the United Nations - receiving a standing ovation in 2015 for her speech to mark International Women's Day

Relationships In September 2011, she wed film producer Trevor Engelson, who she began dating in 2004

But the pair divorced two years later in August 2013, citing irreconcilable difference

She was in a relationship with celebrity chef Cory Vitiello for almost two years, before they broke it off in 2016 but the two remain good friends

And in June 2016, she met Prince Harry on a blind date set up by a mutual friend

Their relationship began in October that year and just over one year later, on November 27, 2017, the pair announced their engagement

They married on May 19, 2018 at St George's Chapel in Windsor Castle. Meghan's heritage Some have claimed Meghan Markle is the first mixed-race member of the Royal Family

Historians are still arguing about Queen Charlotte, the wife of King George III. But Meghan will be the first royal to openly embrace a mixed-race heritage

She has written about the difficulties of being a biracial actress in Hollywood as she claims she is not black enough for some roles and not white enough for others

Royal news : Guest reveals details from inside Meghan's intimate baby shower - Duration: 4:27.

A guest at Meghan Markle's baby shower has revealed details of her afternoon celebrating with the Duchess of Sussex in New York

Gayle King said on CBS This Morning that she and other guests at the intimate event were taught how to arrange flowers

The duchess, 37, then donated the arrangements to various charities, Ms King said

She added that she could not say what gift she had purchased for Meghan, who is expecting her first child in spring, because the guest of honour did not open any of her presents

"She wants to do that when she goes back to London, when she and Harry and are back together," Ms King said

Meghan flew home from the US today in a private jet after enjoying the baby shower with her closest friends

The trip marked her first trip to America since her wedding to Prince Harry last May

Following a segment on the programme about Meghan's shower, Ms King's co-hosts asked her about the event

Co-host Bianna Golodryga said: "[Meghan] arrived at the Upper East Side venue yesterday amid tight security

The party included some big-name guests including Amal Clooney, Serena Williams, and our very own queen Gayle King

"  Turning to Ms King, co-host Nora O'Donnell asked: "How was it?"  Ms King replied: "A good time was had by all

"  Ms O'Donnell then asked: "What did you get her?"  "She didn't open any of the gifts because she wants to do that when she goes back to London, when she and Harry are back together," Ms King explained

"I don't know what everybody got. I think I got something I think is very nice

But you know, she's a very private person. I think she should decide what she wants to say about this

"  Ms King then shared a story from the shower.   She said: "I hope she won't mind me sharing this because I've never seen anything like this at a baby shower

They did flower decorations. They had flower arranging, they brought in somebody to explain how to arrange flowers," Ms King told her co-hosts

"We all each made an individual vase. And then Meghan, at her request, they got in touch with an organisation I've never heard of with, Repeat Roses, and they're all donated to different charities

I thought that was a very sweet thing." Read more Meghan Markle dressed for comfort for her flight back to London  She added: "It just speaks to who she is

She's kind, she's very generous. And a really, really sweet person."  The presenter also revealed that the shower was hosted by Serena Williams, Jessica Mulroney and Genevieve Hillis, who has been Meghan's best friend since the age of 17 when they met at Northwestern

"It was a small, private affair, and a special time for her,' said Ms King. "Having a baby is a great thing

Man Utd news: Bold David Moyes and Jose Mourinho claims made by Peter Schmeichel - Duration: 4:42.

That's according to Red Devils legend Peter Schmeichel. Since Sir Alex Ferguson ended an illustrious 26-year reign at Old Trafford to retire as a manager in 2013, United have gone through three permanent managers with Ole Gunnar Solskjaer currently in charge as a caretaker boss

Despite winning an FA Cup, a Carabao Cup and the Europa League, all three of Ferguson's successors - Moyes, Van Gaal and Mourinho - ended up being relieved of their duties

Mourinho was sacked just last December with Solskjaer appointed as interim boss in his place, with United having picked 25 points in nine Premier League games under the Norwegian - one less than in 17 games under Mourinho this season

Solskjaer's appointment has been a major success for United but the club are now left with the question as to whether or not to keep him for the long term or chase another target, with Tottenham tactician Mauricio Pochettino long mooted to nee their No 1 choice for the position

But iconic former goalkeeper Schmeichel thinks that Mourinho, whose reign is looked back on with discontent due to the poor football played under the Portuguese boss, would have enjoyed greater success had he not come in after Van Gaal

Yet stretching even further back, the player-turned-pundit laments how United sacked Moyes just 10 months into a six-year contract

The Scot - recommended by Ferguson himself as his own replacement - oversaw the first time in which United failed to make the Champions League since 1995-96 as they went on to finish seventh, 15 points off fourth and 22 points off title winners Manchester City

"If we should have any regrets as Manchester United, that is that we only gave David Moyes seven [sic] months," Schmeichel told beIN SPORTS after Man City beat Chelsea 6-0 on Sunday

"I think we should have given him more time, accepted that results weren't going to be the way we hoped they would be and that playing would be a little bit different

"I believe he would have grown into that role. He has the personality and he had so many things he needed to learn and he didn't have anybody to learn them from

"He was left to run the football department on his own. I think that really would have helped him [keeping Mike Phelan], had he had someone with that kind of experience

"But I also understand where he's coming from. He did think that he brought that experience with Phil Neville so he had someone there

"I don't think he wanted someone there who had worked with Sir Alex. I can understand that, but maybe when you look back maybe that was a mistake

"But from the club's perspective we should never, ever have dismissed him.  "That left us into making rash decisions, so we bring in a name and that went completely wrong

"Had we brought in Mourinho instead of Louis van Gaal, I'm sure history would have told that it would have been better

"It would have been so much better for him to come in at that point rather than after Van Gaal

There were too many things that happened, too many players brought in that didn't suit him and possibly didn't suit Man United as well

"But we go back and look at our history, we look at the number of years from Sir Matt stopping and retiring in the 70s and all the way to '86

"It still took Fergie from '86 to '93 to seal the first championship so United is the kind of club that will always bounce back

This time we just hope it's a little bit quicker."

Royal news : Happy Birthday Kate! Duchess of Cambridge reaches 'happiest age' as she turns 37 today - Duration: 3:19.

Kate turns 37 on Wednesday and it is the age Britons are happiest, previous research by deodorant brand Sure revealed

The age marks the point where people have ticked off most of their key life goals, the study suggested

Key life goals in the 2013 study included having a family, getting married and travelling around the world

Kate is expected to spend her birthday privately with her family. But William will be out for some of the day as he is due to visit the the London Air Ambulance at The Royal Hospital London to mark their 30th anniversary

Former air ambulance pilot William's engagement is to "recognise the work that their first responders carry out delivering life-saving treatment across London"

And Kate's will visit the King Henry's Walk Community Garden in Islington on January 15 for her first engagement of 2019

It comes after the Cambridge family's Christmas break at Anmer Hall in Norfolk, which is not far from the Queen's Sandringham House residence

William and Kate stepped out for church on Christmas Day with the royals. Kate put on a friendly display with Meghan Markle despite rumours of a rift

In November, Prince Harry and the Duchess of Sussex announced their plans to move out of their cottage in the grounds of Kensington Palace, where they are William and Kate's neighbours

Pregnant Meghan and Harry are moving to Frogmore Cottage in Windsor, sparking reports of a fall out with William and Kate

Most of the rumours have centred on Meghan and Kate, with claims the pair do not get on

There were reports of a clash over Princess Charlotte's bridesmaid dress ahead of the May royal wedding and claims of a row over staff

However, some royal commentators have suggested the rift could actually be between William and Harry

In an appearance on Channel 5 documentary Kate V Meghan: Princesses at War, which aired on Sunday, royal expert Katie Nicholl insisted Harry and William's relationship could be strained

Ms Nicholl said William was concerned that Harry's relationship with Meghan was moving too fast, leading him to have a word with his younger brother

But Harry was "riled" by William's intervention which he saw as "criticism" of Meghan and things between the two bothers have not been "quite right" since
