Arsenal are monitoring developments with Burnley goalkeeper Nick Pope as they assess replacements for Petr Cech

The 26-year-old England international is still wanted at Burnley by manager Sean Dyche and would be offered improved terms to stay but with competition from Tom Heaton and Joe Hart, Pope is open to a move this summer

Arsenal veteran Cech is to retire at the end of the season and manager Unai Emery wants quality competition for Bernd Leno

Share this article Share An added bonus for the Gunners is the fact Pope would count as a homegrown player

Manchester City, Liverpool, Tottenham and Newcastle have all watched Pope's situation with interest

Despite high hopes after impressing last season, that saw him earn a call-up for the World Cup, Pope started off this campaign badly by dislocating his shoulder just 14 minutes into Burnley's Europa League game with Aberdeen back in July

He returned to fitness in December, only to find Heaton in rejuvenated form and summer signing Hart on the bench and has been limited to just two FA Cup appearances

Man Utd news: Juventus legend Pavel Nedved reveals why he REJECTED Red Devils approach - Duration: 3:50.

The revelation was made by the 46-year-old former Ballon d'Or winner during an interview with the Telegraph

Nedved, who is currently the vice-president of Juventus, revealed his agent had received more than one offer from United

He said it came at a time when Juventus were relegated to Serie B in 2006, in the wake of the Calciopoli scandal, which implicated several Italian football clubs of rigging matches by selecting favourable officials

Nedved admitted he is a fan of United and especially Sir Alex Ferguson, who was the manager at the time of the incident

"I've always appreciated English football and the Premier League, I've always liked it," Nedved said

"My agent received some offers and I have always been a great supporter of Manchester United and Sir Alex Ferguson, specifically, at that time

"They were certainly one of our greatest opponents and also a great source of inspiration and drive and desire

"Ferguson achieved great things, unprecedented things and I don't know if anyone else in the future will be able to achieve what he did

" But Nedved made the choice to stay with Juventus because he felt he had a responsibility to help the club return to Serie A

He was one of only five players who stayed and the only non-Italian who made the commitment

"I have always been asked this question – whether it was difficult or not to stay in that critical moment," Nedved said

"And my answer has always been no. It was actually easy to stay. "The other players who made the same decision thought the same – that is: what would have happened if we had all left the club?  "We decided to stay because we felt the responsibility to return to the club exactly what we had received

"The club believed in us so it was the right time to give back. That's why it was easy

" As a player Nedved joined the Old Lady from Lazio for €41million (£35.9m) in 2001 and feels he still has that same duty to the club in his current role

He added: "I have always felt like this, to be honest. Because I have always felt privileged

"I have been able to do what I love, I have always been treated well, I have always been paid well so that's why

"I feel that I owe something; that I need to return something. It's always been a great pleasure but nevertheless I do feel this responsibility

"I can say in the past, when I was a player, it was less heavy because I could just focus on my performance and concentrate on myself

"But even now, even if my role has changed, I don't want to let anyone down."

NY1's Jamie Stelter puts Gap on blast over baby pajamas - Latest News - Duration: 2:17.

NY1's Jamie Stelter wanted a pair of traffic-themed pajamas for her young daughter — so she turned to the boys' department

Stelter, a traffic reporter for the local New York channel, put the Gap on blast Tuesday when she couldn't find the patterned set — which features cars, trucks, stop lights and street signs on a blue background — in the girls' section

"🚦MOM RANT🚦i just bought these super cute traffic PJs for Sunny from the little boys department of Gap but WHY WHY WHY are they not also in the girls department?! cause they're blue? cause they have cars on them? cause only little boys can like blue and cars," she fumed on Instagram

"I am so over everything for girls being pink and unicorns and saying 'i'm awesome' and everything for boys being fun prints in bold colors

"  On the Gap's website, the traffic pajamas pop up if shoppers click into the baby boys' sleepwear section

They don't show up when perusing the baby girls' sleepwear section.  While she singled out the Gap in her post, Stelter noted that "this is (sadly) not new and (sadly) not just the Gap

"  Mom rant aside, the Gap does feature plenty of baby-girl sleepwear in "fun prints in bold colors" — including a handful with patterns that are often associated with baby boys' clothing, including firetrucks, rocketships and dinosaurs

Stelter shares nearly 2-year-old daughter Sunny Ray with husband Brian Stelter, who hosts CNN's "Reliable Sources

"  A rep for the Gap didn't immediately respond to a request for comment. Share this:

Liverpool news: Rio Ferdinand praises Jurgen Klopp for two key decisions vs Bayern Munich - Duration: 2:50.

Klopp was forced into fielding a makeshift defence for the visit of Bayern Munich in the first leg of the Champions League last-16 tie on Tuesday

Virgil van Dijk missed the match due to suspension and Dejan Lovren and Joe Gomez remain out with their respective injuries

Brazilian midfielder Fabinho had to slot into defence alongside Joel Matip in their absence

Former England defender Ferdinand admits it takes time to form partnerships at the back

But he has praised Klopp's faith he has shown in Fabinho and also the inclusion of Naby Keita in midfield

Ferdinand says it would have been easy for the German manager to pick James Milner ahead of the less-experienced Keita

"Partnerships are built by being familiar with your partner and playing on a regular basis and you build that bond between you," Ferdinand said on BT Sport

"Obviously these two have never had the opportunity to do that really. "It is going to be difficult because when Matip plays with Virgil van Dijk, he's got a sense of where he's got to be because he knows where he's going to play

"You see the influence that Virgil van Dijk has on this Liverpool team, without him they're not as good

"What I would say is Fabinho is a very good player to have in the squad, he can play in multiple positions and he's done okay when he's come in and played centre-back, albeit against opposition not of the calibre of Bayern Munich

"So it remains to be seen how well he does today. "Today, the manager showing that confidence in him to bring him in and playing him there

"It's enforced, yes, but to do that he's got to go in there and perform. "That's one of the great attributes of Klopp, he gives players confidence

"He puts them in, like Keita as well, putting him in today. "People would have said maybe Milner is the safe option, but he's playing players that are on form and players he wants to see hit a bit of form at such an important part of the season

Italy Senate blocks Salvini probe into holding migrants on ship News Al Jazeera - Duration: 2:54.

Italy Senate blocks Salvini probe into holding migrants on ship News Al Jazeera

Controversial interior minister wont face trial after support from Five Star Movement, raising credibility questions.

An Italian Senate committee voted on Tuesday to block an investigation into accusations of kidnapping against Deputy Prime Minister over his decision to hold 150 migrants on board a ship for five days last August.

The committee voted 16 to 6 to stop the investigation into Salvini, who is also interior minister and the leader of the hard right League party that rules in a coalition with the anti establishment Five Star Movement.

The case has sown division within the government and in particular within Five Star, which has built its support on pledges to bring transparency to Italian politics and has harshly criticised past parliamentary manoeuvring to halt judicial proceedings against lawmakers.

Prosecutors in Sicily have sought permission to investigate Salvini for abuse of power and kidnapping over the case of migrants held on board the Diciotti coast guard ship.

When Salvini took office in June of last year, he blocked humanitarian ships carrying rescued migrants from Italys ports and said he would allow migrants on shore only if other European partners agreed to take them.

In the case of the Diciotti, migrants rescued at sea were allowed to disembark when Albania and Ireland offered to accept some of them and Italys Catholic Church agreed to take responsibility for the rest at no cost to the taxpayer.

Five Star leader Luigi Di Maio held an online ballot of the movements core supporters on Monday and 59 percent voted to protect Salvini. The movements senators on the Elections and Immunity Committee said they would honour that vote.

"We have provided the guarantee for this government to keep working," Mario Michele Giarrusso, a Five Star senator who sits on the committee, said after the vote.

Opposition lawmakers from the Democratic Party PD protested loudly in the courtyard outside the committee room, holding up signs that read "shame" and chanting one of the Five Star mottos: "Honesty, honesty, honesty!"

Salvini said he asked for parliamentary immunity because his decision to block the migrants was in the best interest of the country and was taken together with his allies. Prime Minister Giuseppe Conte and Five Star have backed this position.

Some observers said they fear the vote reflects an unprecedented path in  politics.

"Its an inconsistent approach to politics," said Senator Gregorio De Falco, a one time Five Star Movement MP who left the populist party after being suspended for not endorsing its policy on migration.

"The Movement risks losing its credibility and killing peoples hope because of an adventurous and inadequate political class," De Falco told Al Jazeera.
