BREAKING NEWS FROM PRESIDENT TRUMP…

LIBERALS FUMING\

President Donald Trump has announced that the United States will develop new technologies

— including in space — to acquire unrivaled missile-defense capabilities and maintain

an advantage over adversaries such as Russia, China, Iran, and North Korea.

His comments were part of the results of a U.S. missile-defense review — the first

since 2010 — that Trump unveiled at the Pentagon on January 17.

Speaking after acting Defense Secretary Patrick Shanahan and U.S. Vice President Mike Pence,

Trump said the U.S. goal was simple: "that we can detect and destroy" any incoming

missile launched against the United States "anywhere, any time, any place."

Trump mentioned increased threats from hypersonic and cruise missiles with upgraded abilities

that Washington needs to counter.

He said his call for an expanded missile-defense system would better protect the United States.

'Space-Based Defence'

Trump said a new strategy would include a "space-based defense layer of new technologies,

such as sensors that could detect, track, and destroy incoming enemy missiles."

The space-based shoot-down technology is similar to what U.S. President Ronald Reagan suggested

in his "Star Wars" initiative in the 1980s.

Trump said the United States's space-defense capability would "ultimately be a very,

very big part of our defense — and our offense."

Shanahan said before Trump that competitors such as Russia and China were pursuing new

missiles that are "harder to see, harder to track, and harder to defeat."

He also said that Washington was not interested "in keeping pace with potential threats,

but in outpacing them."

Shanahan added that North Korea's missiles were a "significant concern."

The comments come as North Korean envoy Kim Yong Chol is expected in Washington for talks

with Secretary of State Mike Pompeo about Pyongyang's nuclear weapons program on January

18.

Though he didn't mention Russia or China during his speech, Trump specifically named

Iran and it's effort to develop ballistic missiles with ever-increasing ranges.

Missile Interceptors

The Missile Defense Review report mentioned that Iran's "desire to have a strategic

counter to the United States could drive it to field an [Intercontinental Ballistic Missile]."

Trump also announced that the United States would deploy 20 new missile interceptors in

Alaska as part of a new missile-defense strategy.

There are already 44 such interceptors deployed at the Fort Greely U.S. base in Alaska.

A new missile-defense program that could defend "every city in the United States" would

be developed, he said.

Trump pledged to share all new technology and missile-defense systems with U.S. allies

but added that they must pay more for U.S.-sponsored security of their countries.

"We are going to be with NATO 100 percent, but [other countries] are going to have to

step up [and pay for defense]," he said.

Viktor Bondaryov, the chairman of the Defense and Security Committee in Russia's upper

house of parliament, said "an additional layer of space-based sensors to detect missiles

can be viewed as a component of a policy of increasing tensions."

He added that the Russian position was clear.

"Under no circumstances should attack weapons be based in space.

This is fraught

with catastrophe

Man Utd transfer news: What Louis van Gaal did to burn relationship with Angel Di Maria - Duration: 3:18.

Manchester United were haunted by PSG star Di Maria last week, with the Argentina international impressing in a 2-0 Champions League win at Old Trafford

The 31-year-old signed for the Red Devils in 2014 with Van Gaal forking out £60million to make Di Maria the most-expensive player in English football at the time

Things at Manchester United started well for the Argentine, with a fine solo goal against Leicester standing out in the memory

Ultimately, though, the forward failed to live up to expectations. And few tears were shed when Van Gaal sold him to PSG in 2015, just a year on from his arrival

Di Maria has now opened up about their feud. And the PSG star has insisted Van Gaal was always criticising him for losing the ball during his time at United

"At Manchester [United], the first two months went well," he told Sports France. "Then there is a fight and after a big fight, the relationship is not the same anymore and it's the coach who decides if you play or not

"There are times when I lost the ball easily and these are the things he showed me

"He always showed me the negative and it started to weigh me down, until one day I argued with him

" "I told him that I did not want to see that anymore, that I was doing good things, and I asked him why he was not showing them to me

"He did not like the way I told him and the problems started from there." Di Maria was popular when he signed for United

But unforgiving fans subjected him to boos and taunts when he returned with PSG seven days ago

The forward was also sent flying by United skipper Ashley Young, who barged him onto the metal railings around the pitch

But, speaking after that game, Di Maria insisted he was not fazed by the reaction of the United crowd

"It was difficult from the opening minute," the former Real Madrid star added. "But I knew this was going to happen

"But I've said it in the past and I reiterate it, I never spoke badly of the people here and of this club

"These are things that happen and people took it badly. I only had problems with the coach [Louis van Gaal] here

"

Legendary designer Karl Lagerfeld dead at 85 - Latest News - Duration: 2:48.

German haute-couture designer Karl Lagerfeld, artistic director at Chanel and an icon of the global fashion industry for over half a century, has died, a source at the French fashion house Chanel said on Tuesday

He was 85.  Lagerfeld, instantly recognizable in his dark suits, pony-tailed white hair and tinted sunglasses, was best known for his association with Chanel but simultaneously delivered collections for LVMH's Fendi and his own eponymous label

Rumors of Lagerfeld's ill-health had swirled after he missed Chanel's January show in Paris

"We have lost a creative genius who helped to make Paris the fashion capital of the world and Fendi one of the most innovative Italian houses," LVMH chairman and chief executive Bernard Arnault said in a statement

"We owe him a great deal: his taste and talent were the most exceptional I have ever known

"  A true craftsman who combined artistic instinct, business acumen and commensurate ego, Lagerfeld was known for his strikingly visual fashion show displays and extravagant outfits

Born in Hamburg in 1933, Lagerfeld made his debut with designer Pierre Balmain as an apprentice before moving on to Patou and Chloe and then Italian brand Fendi

He gained a rock-star status after he joined Chanel in 1983.  He earned the nicknames "Kaiser Karl" and "Fashion Meister"

"We are deeply saddened to learn the news of Karl Lagerfeld's passing today. His unrivalled contribution to the fashion industry changed the way women dress and perceive fashion," Caroline Rush, chief executive of the British Fashion Council said in a statement

French celebrity online magazine Purepeople said Lagerfeld died on Tuesday morning after being taken to hospital in Neuilly-sur-Seine just outside Paris the night before

A spokesman for Chanel was not immediately available for comment. Share this:

Tristan Thompson hit by more 'cheating' rumours amid Khloe Kardashian split - News Today - Duration: 3:26.

Tristan Thompson has been hit with yet more cheating rumours 10 months on from his infidelity bombshell - which was blamed for making Khloe Kardashian go into labour early with their daughter, True

And with reports last week that Khloe had finally dumped her errant basketball ace partner, it may well be that he's now a free agent

But pictures of him out partying last Valentine's Day with other women aren't likely to be well received by the mum of one

According to Us Weekly , Tristan was spotted last Thursday "being flirty [and] hitting up girls" at the Pineapple Hill Saloon & Grill in Sherman Oaks, California

He was seen taking pictures with two women at the bar, before heading on to Gyu-Kaku restaurant with friends

Days later, the 27-year-old Cleveland Cavaliers player was spotted partying at a private event at the Barely House bar in his adopted Cleveland

An eyewitness revealed: "He came in the back door and he was snuck quickly through the back by two or three bouncers

"They took him immediately upstairs. There were some girls who went up afterward

One of the bouncers said, 'Tristan Thompson is upstairs', and they just said, 'Really?' and he took them up there

"  While there's no suggestion Tristan did anything wrong, the new reports of his behaviour seem unlikely to mend the rift in his relationship with Khloe

According to Radar Online last week, multiple sources close to the pair say they have been living separate lives and Khloe is "much happier" being a single mum

The 34-year-old reality star had moved back to Los Angeles when daughter True was four months old, while basketball star Tristan stayed in Cleveland

During the final days of Khloe's pregnancy, Tristan was accused of affairs with multiple women

An insider told Radar that Khloe had become suspicious Tristan had cheated again during the Christmas holidays as she stayed in Calabasas with the Kardashians

On Valentine's Day Khloe revealed she'd been sent a huge bouquet of red and pink roses from Tristan

Uploading a picture of the heart-shaped floral display, Khloe wrote alongside it: "Daddy and baby True

"  Though later in the evening, Khloe appeared in less romantic mood when she began to post a number of cryptic quotes

"Sometimes god breaks your heart to save your soul," said one.  Another read: "She is a mess but she is a masterpiece

"  Khloe kept her hurt to herself after the first Tristan bombshell, preferring to focus on her first days of motherhood

But she later told sisters Kourtney and Kim Kardashian on Keeping Up With The Kardashians that Tristan was "a piece of s**t"

"He obviously f***ed up, major, but I'm not sure how I feel about everything right now," she added

"In two weeks I might be like, 'You know what? I don't trust you and this isn't for me

' Or I might say, 'This is perfect. Let's keep it going.'"   Read More Tristan Thompson cheats on pregnant girlfriend Khloe Kardashian

F1 news: Renault star Daniel Ricciardo makes funny admission over new team - Duration: 18:39.

F1 news: Renault star Daniel Ricciardo makes funny admission over new team Ricciardo had to stop racing after colliding with Red Bull team-mate. Verstappen appeared to make a defensive move and the crash forced both drivers out of the race. And Ricciardo has admitted that the incident was a factor in his decision to leave Red Bull.

"I couldn't tell you how many little pieces made up the puzzle, the kaleidoscope, but I guess that was one of the little pieces," Ricciardo said. "We both got a talking to, putting it politely, but in my eyes, I guess the incident itself was.I felt like I was not really in the wrong even though I was the one that hit him. "I think most people saw the double move [Verstappen made in defence]. "Even before that, there was a lot of contact and I think a lot of people thought it went on too long.

"I guess the way it was handled at the time didn't sit too well with me, so that was like a little thing that bothered me. "But it wasn't the deal breaker, if you know what I mean."

NEXT NEWS:Hamilton: "Great" to see W10 running "as smoothly as it is".Reigning champion Lewis Hamilton didn't set the timing boards alight during his first day of testing in Barcelona but he did get a good, long run in for Mercedes, and the Brit is happy with how faultless the W10 is running.   Sebastian Vettel was a whopping two seconds faster during Monday's testing in their respective fastest laps, but that isn't representative in the slightest in terms of where both cars are pace-wise.

For one, Vettel was running the softer C3 compound in the morning to clock some fast times, while Hamilton was merely doing longer runs to test reliability. While doing that, Hamilton was very pleased with how his car felt after he finished on Monday. At the time of writing on Tuesday, Hamilton sits seventh on the day's timing table, but with 74 laps, he has completed the most laps out of anyone.

"It feels quite a bit different compared to last year," Hamilton was quoted by GPfans after the first day of running in Barcelona. "We're now getting to know it. Trying to understand the balance and trying to understand the characteristics we're working with. "It's good to be back in the car and it's great to see the car is running as smoothly at it is. "It's been a positive first day. We got through our running plan and there are lots for us to learn about the new car which we will be working on."

NEXT NEWS:Vettel not a fan of "really ugly" new front wings. It's safe to say Ferrari star Sebastian Vettel is not a big fan of the look of the new, wide front wings, as the four-time champion called them "really ugly" when asked what he thinks of them.   Vettel topped the charts by quite some distance at the first day of testing at the Circuit de Catalunya in Barcelona, as the 31-year-old was half a second faster than any other driver and a full second faster than anyone who was on the same compound as him, the C3.

On top of that, he also ran more distance than any other driver, logging 169 laps in the SF90 When it came to the new wings, though, he wasn't as enthusiastic. "The front wing I think looks really ugly," he told RaceFans.   "I don't understand why it is so wide. "I think years ago we went back because we said it's actually bad for racing. Now we bring back wide, so maybe we forgot to take notes.

I think if you look at the rest of the car it's beautiful, the front wing for all the teams it looks a bit weird." He did mention, though, that it wasn't all bad, as he explained the feel in the car isn't dramatically different. "It drives better than that it looks, to be honest. You don't you don't feel a big difference. I think for everyone you know the question is how much you lost compared to last year.I think we are still catching up but it looks pretty good at this point."

NEXT NEWS:Leclerc shines as Ferrari continues to set testing pace.  Those determined to build the hype in terms of Ferrari's driver line-up this season, warning that four-time world champion Sebastian Vettel is on notice from his new teammate, Charles Leclerc, will be relishing the fact that halfway through the second day of testing the youngster is only marginally off his illustrious teammate's pace.

Running the C3 compound, the Monegasque completed 73 laps this morning on his way to posting a best time of 1:18.247, just 0086s off Vettel's best lap yesterday. Despite the question mark over its matte livery, the SF90 looks good, stable when changing direction and its rear end firmly planted. A late charge saw Kevin Magnussen take second place in the Haas, the Dane doing so on the C3 compound.

Indeed, tyres remain an anomaly, with some drivers appearing to perform better on the harder compounds than the soft. That said, Antonio Giovinazzi was sporting the red-banded C4s when he posted his best time of 19.312, which put him third on the timesheets, while Lando Norrisclaimed fourth (19.489) on the harder C2s.

There was a scary moment for Daniel Ricciardo when the Australian lost part of his rear wing on the main straight, causing him to spin off onto the gravel at T1. While it has been suggested that the cause of the failure was due to the DRS opening being wider this year, Renault has not commented, however, following the incident the Australian didn't run again and ended the morning with only 28 laps under his belt.

Poor Alexander Albon, who is making his first appearance in an F1 car, other than last week's shakedown, brought out the red flag just moments into the session when he spun off into the gravel at T4. However, contrary to claims that this was due to the new tyre blanket rules, a suggestion made by Romain Grosjean following his off yesterday, Toro Rosso team boss, Franz Tost, says it was down to steering.

"It was a steering issue," he told the official F1 broadcaster. "We changed something from yesterday to today but it didn't work out as we expected and therefore we changed once more to yesterday's version." World champion Lewis Hamilton had an anonymous morning, quietly getting on with things as he put another 74 laps on the W10.

As ever, the Mercedes appears to have great traction exiting corners. This afternoon the Briton hands over to Valtteri Bottas, while Nico Hulkenbergsteps into the Renault vacated by Ricciardo. All in all, a quiet morning, with the nine drivers on duty completing just under 500 laps between them.

NEXT NEWS:Vettel serves notice of his 2019 intentions.Let's get one thing straight from the very start; for all manner of reasons, not least the uncertainty over fuel loads, it is far too early to start making predictions about the forthcoming season based on today's evidence. That said, Ferrari, Red Bull, Mercedes, McLaren and Alfa Romeo can head back to their hotels tonight knowing that at least they have reliability, and in the case of the Maranello outfit pace also.

Sebastian Vettel completed 169 trouble-free laps today, and other than a minor spin at the very start of the session, neither the German nor his car missed a beat. Not only does the car look stable, it appears to be kind to its tyres. "Obviously it's very early, the first day, and it's meaningless in a couple of weeks," the German subsequently told reporters. "But for now, huge compliments to everyone back at the factory. "First impressions yesterday were good and strong," he added, continued to the shakedown at the weekend, "the same today.

The car is working. I certainly got enough laps today and I'm going to sleep well tonight. The guys are very happy. "How they tackled the new rules and regulations and what they put on track today is very close to perfection in the first day of driving," he continued, "the amount of laps we did, how the team was handling the car. "Everything is more on the edge compared to last year's car," he admitted, "tighter and so on, what you would imagine. But no major dramas, so from that point of view we are very well prepared.

"It was unbelievable," he grinned, "the car was working really well. We had no issues slowing us down, we actually completed the programme just the way we wanted. We were able to squeeze a little bit more out even." Finishing the day second quickest is probably more than either McLaren or Carlos Sainz dared hope for, and while the Spaniard's best time was posted on the (softer) C3 rubber, the 119 laps tally is a lifetime away from the horrors of 2015.

"It looks like our hard work has paid off," said the Spaniard. "It's been a very positive start as we've been able to run without big issues, play a bit with the set-up of the car and gather data to analyse. Good job everyone, because 119 laps on the first day is a good step. "There's still a lot of margin to improve the car," he admitted. "Following today's work, we know more clearly the direction we want to try.

Now we have the information for a strong debrief, so we will keep working and moving forward." At Haas it was an up and down day, Romain Grosjean losing track time this morning due to a fuel pressure issue, but in the afternoon he was able to put in some competitive times.

"I think we can be happy enough with our day, in terms of the car's feeling," said the Frenchman. "We didn't have a smooth run in the morning, but saying that, the afternoon went better. We had lost a fair bit of track time, but we recovered to put in some good runs. The team's done a good job again to produce a car that's very nice to drive.

There's more work to do obviously, we need to understand the car, but at the minute I'm very happy with what we've got." A great first day for the Red Bull-Honda partnership, Max Verstappen posting the fourth best time and the second best tally in terms of laps. Late in the day the Dutchman also scored a psychological victory of sorts, when, having trailed Vettel for a couple of laps, finally nailed the German with a late move.

Though the moment is hardly likely to cost Vettel any sleep, those couple of laps running in the exhaust gases of the pace-setting Ferrari will no doubt have given the Red Bull engineers some vital extra data in terms of the new regulations. "To do 128 laps on the first day of testing is a really good day, so I'm very happy with that," beamed Verstappen.

"We collected a lot of data, which is really important, and we'll analyse everything tonight to see what we can improve on tomorrow when Pierre is in the car. "I'll also go into detail tonight and tomorrow to see where I can improve for my second day. So far, so good and I'm happy that we were able to do so many laps.

I'm looking forward to the rest of the week." Kimi Raikkonen, on his debut proper for Alfa Romeo, bookended the day with red flags, the first caused when he spun at T5 just moments into the session and the second when his car stopped on track with just two minutes remaining.

Though not sporting the 'basic' front wing witnessed at last week's shakedown, the Alfa continues to impress many within the paddock, and with 114 laps completed the car is clearly fast and reliable and therefore a threat in what once again should be a tight midfield. Daniil Kvyat spent more time in the pits than he would have liked, nonetheless he will be fairly pleased to end the day sixth quickest, albeit having posted his best time, like Sainz on the red-banded C4 rubber.

"It was a productive day," said the Russian, "and it's good to be back behind the wheel. "We managed to do quite a few laps, which is important on the first day of testing to get some mileage under your belt so you can see how the car behaves. "It's too early to draw conclusions, but I think we have a good baseline for now and we need to keep working on that. Every time we were on track it was smooth running, and everyone was operating at a high level.

"I have another three days in the car which gives us the chance to improve on the things we worked on today, so we will look over the data to see which direction we will take on Wednesday. I worked with my new engineers and we all understood each other well straight away. It was certainly a good start." Like Max Verstappen, the Russian enjoyed some fun and games in the afternoon, when, on no less than three occasions, he found himself scrapping over the same piece of tarmac with Lewis Hamilton.

Eventually, clearly tired by the silliness, the Briton left the Toro Rosso for dead on the pit straight. It was a difficult day for Sergio Perez and Racing Point, the Mexican finishing seventh on the timesheets but with only 30 laps to his credit. The team subsequently appeared untroubled by the limited running, citing "teething problems" - among them a small oil leak. "It was a typical first day of testing," said Perez, "with a lot of checks and not a lot of running.

It was effectively our shakedown and, even though the day was a bit shorter than expected, I felt quite happy with the car straight away. "The mileage wasn't great but I think it was still a promising start. I am happy with the performance we managed to get out of the car and with its balance. The conditions weren't great: the track was quite cold and green to begin with, but I end the first day feeling positive.

It was important to start understanding the car as much as we could and for me to make myself comfortable with it as a driver." Mercedes and Renault both split driving duties with one driver in action this morning and his teammate driving this afternoon. Interestingly, both teams stuck with the harder C2 compound for much of the day, posting their best times on the white banded rubber.

Bottas finished the day eighth quickest, but driving in the afternoon, teammate Hamilton was only 0008s off his pace. "I quite enjoyed this morning," said Bottas, "it's good to be back at the track. I did 69 laps and there were no major issues with the car, so it was a relatively successful run. Since the car is brand new, we immediately found ways to improve the balance and the behaviour and we will continue to work on that in the next days.

It's good to see the car running well and it proves that the entire team is doing a great job, both in Brackley and Brixworth, but also here at the track. I'm looking forward to a more time in the car tomorrow afternoon. "It's good to be back in the car," added Hamilton, "and it's great to see the car is running as smoothly at it is.

It feels quite a bit different compared to last year and we're now getting to know it, trying to understand the balance and trying to understand the characteristics we're working with. It's been a positive first day, we got through our running plan and there's lots for us to learn about the new car which we will be working on.

Liverpool news: Injury blow as star misses training ahead of Bayern but duo offer boost - Duration: 2:45.

Liverpool may be forced to take on Bayern Munich without Roberto Firmino after the Brazilian missed training ahead of the Champions League Round of 16 tie

Firmino has been struggling with the effects of a virus and was not seen as the Reds underwent their final preparations at Melwood on Monday

Jurgen Klopp will be hoping his star striker can return in time to face the Bundesliga giants, with Firmino considered a key component of Liverpool's high-intensity playing style

There was also no sign of Dejan Lovren during training as the Croatian continues to remain sidelined with a hamstring problem

Lovren's absence leaves Klopp short of options in central defence with Virgil van Dijk suspended for the Reds' first knockout match

Joe Gomez remains a long-term absentee due to a fractured leg so midfielder Fabinho is most likely to partner Joal Matip at the heart of the Liverpool rearguard

Firmino's replacement is less clear-cut with Daniel Sturridge, Divock Origi and Xherdan Shaqiri all options depending on Klopp's preferred formation

The latter was an injury concern but has now completed two full training sessions and could start in the No 10 role if Liverpool opt for a 4-2-3-1 set-up

There was further good news as Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain continued his return to full fitness after a serious knee injury

The England international was seen taking part in several light drills as he targets a comeback before the end of the campaign

Oxlade-Chamberlain has been named in Liverpool's Champions League squad but is not thought he will be available for selection until the quarter-finals in April – if the Reds progress that far

Bayern head into the match three points behind Borussia Dortmund in the Bundesliga and undefeated in the Champions League so far, having topped Group E ahead of Ajax, Benfica and AEK Athens

The Pakistan Cricket Board said the announcement of a new live broadcast partner after IMG Reliances split from the Pakistan Super League, which kicked off in the last week, will be announced on Monday.

DSport, the official broadcaster of the PSL in , will no longer show the matches, local media reported.

Digital coverage of the tournament has also been blocked in the country, according to a on Sunday.

"The PCB has noted the recent turn of events and expresses its extreme disappointment as we have always believed and emphasised that sports and politics should be kept separate," Wasim Khan, the boards managing director, said in a statement.

"History tells us that sports, particularly cricket, have always played a key role in building bridges between people and countries," he added while vowing to take the issue up with BCCI Indias cricket board and the International Cricket Council.

Mumbai based IMG Reliance agreed to produce PSLs television coverage last month after the PCB sold the tournaments broadcasting rights for dollar 36m.

The deal was set to run until the end of the 2022 season, . But in a letter addressed to the PCB on Sunday, IMG Reliance cut short its partnership, citing the "deeply regrettable deaths of Indian soldiers" in Pulwama.

At least 42 Indian troops were killed in the restive region on Thursday, the deadliest attack in nearly 30 years of the Kashmir conflict.

Pakistan based rebel group Jaish e Mohammed JeM claimed responsibility for the devastating bombing.

The incident has between the two nuclear armed nations, with Prime Minister Narendra Modi vowing a .

Please dont watch PSL in India

The Pakistani cricket team has not toured India for a bilateral series since January 2013 and has not hosted the Indian side for a series since 2006. But the two have faced each other in international tournaments on neutral venues the  being at the Asia Cup in the UAE in September.

As part of BCCIs policy, no Indian players are allowed to take part in any foreign T20 league outside its own Indian Premier League.

"Unfortunately, denying India cricket fans the right to follow PSL by blocking all digital coverage as well as covering or removing portrait of former Pakistan cricket captain and Prime Minister and other legendary cricketers from one of the most historic cricket clubs and venues are highly regrettable actions," said PCBs Khan.

Pakistan and India have fought three wars since gaining independence from British rule in 1947. Two of them have been over Kashmir.

India has accused Pakistan of backing separatist groups in Kashmir a charge Pakistan denies.

The PSL final will be played in Karachi on March 17.

Karl Lagerfeld's beloved cat Choupette orphaned after pampered life of excess - News Today - Duration: 3:06.

Karl Lagerfeld never married, but admitted that if he could, he would have exchanged vows with his beloved cat, Choupette

The late Chanel boss hailed the seven-year-old white Birman cat the love of his life, and was devoted to her pleasure before his shock death on February 19

As well as having two personal maids to tend to her every beauty need, the precious pussy also owned a iPad, loved to shop and ate her dinner from Goyard china next to Karl

"She hates other animals and she hates children," Karl once said of his high-maintenance pet

"She stays always with me and she has two personal maids. They play with her, they have to take care of her beautiful white hair, the beauty treatments for her eyes, and they entertain her

She is the centre of the world. If you saw her, you would understand."  Likening her to Hollywood scree siren Greta Garbo, he continued, "There is something unforgettable about her, the way she moves, the way she plays

She's an inspiration for elegance. For attitude."  He first met Choupette whilst house-sitting for French model Baptiste Giabiconi in 2011, and joked that he 'abducted' the feline before turning her into an international model

"There is no marriage, yet, for human beings and animals… I never thought that I would fall in love like this with a cat," the fashion mogul admitted of his profound love for his furry companion

"I look a lot like Choupette… we're really like an old couple. In fact, she maintains it (my beard) for me, we sleep on the same pillow and she spends her life licking it

"  Like any good diva, the cat had a bank balance to rival some of the catwalk's biggest stars and pocketed £2million in 2015 alone for a collaboration with brand Shu Uemura and posing for a Vauxhall Corsa car calendar

"She did two jobs and made 3 million euros last year," Karl boasted to The Cut. "One was for cars in Germany and the other was for a Japanese beauty product

"   And she was as celebrated by the world as she was by Karl, amassing 117,000 followers on Twitter , where she kept fans abreast of her luxe comings and goings

Unaware of the heartbreak that was about to befall her, according to her Instagram stories she spent last night 'forcing' herself to watch The Bachelor

And just six hours ago, she (or more likely, one of her staff) updated her page with an image of Anna Wintour's face photoshopped onto her body

It is not yet known who will look after Choupette. Read More RIP Karl Lagerfeld
