Celebrities lash out at Jussie Smollett after his arrest - Daily News - Duration: 4:44.

Celebrities have lashed out at Empire actor Jussie Smollett following his arrest after many of them publicly voiced support for him when he first claimed he had been targeted in a racist and homophobic attack

Smollett was arrested on Thursday for filing a false police report when he told authorities he was attacked in Chicago by two men who hurled racist and anti-gay slurs and looped a rope around his neck

Police have now said the actor staged the attack because Smollett was unhappy about his salary and wanted to promote his career

The revelations sparked immediate backlash from the celebrities who had publicly supported him and called for justice just weeks earlier

Actor and comedian Tyler Perry penned a lengthy Facebook post saying he had personally spoken to Smollett who insisted he was telling the truth

Perry added that the evidence seemed to contradict Smollett's version and that he was 'lost for words'

'I have personally spoken to Jussie, and he is adamant that he's telling the truth

Also, everyone that I know who knows him says that he is not the kind of person who would make up such a horrible and awful thing,' he said

'Yet the evidence seems to state otherwise. I'm lost for words. To stoke fears and raise racial tensions is wrong in every situation on ALL SIDES! Yet my prayers are still with him and his family and our Nation

'Straight Outta Compton actor O'Shea Jackson Jr, who is Ice Cube's son, was scathing in a series of lengthy tweets about the developments

'What upsets me about this Jussie situation is that people were genuinely worried about you man

And the things that you said happened could have led to some serious outcomes. People were prepared to fight for you bruh

Things coulda got ugly. and you made it up.  'The world has plenty of real monsters

You don't have to make up any. And what for? Just further dividing people for personal gain? It sucks for the people who actually have to deal with that type of hate

'And why did you call yourself the gay Tupac. What does Tupac have to do with anything that happened to you? Did you do this to sell records bro? Did you fake a hate crime, Enrage the Black community

The LBGT community and anti-Trump community just to sell records bruh?'People could've gotten hurt

Thinking they're protesting and standing up for you. This is not a game.' Smollett had compared himself to Tupac during a performance in West Hollywood earlier this month

He ended his set saying he fought back against his so-called attackers and said he was 'the gay Tupac'

Share this article Share .   Andy Cohen tweeted that his 'head is exploding' following news of Smollett's arrest before calling the story 'pathetic'

Actor Patton Oswalt retweeted a tweet from President Donald Trump, saying: 'Way to go Jussie

You just handed this racist dips**t a 'Get Out Of Race-Baiting Free' card that he's gonna wave around like a soiled diaper until he's re-elected

'Trump had tweeted: '.@JussieSmollett - what about MAGA and the tens of millions of people you insulted with your racist and dangerous comments!? #MAGA'

Patient leads police on high-speed chase in stolen ambulance - Daily News - Duration: 3:08.

Police in Texas have arrested a man accused of stealing a hospital ambulance and taking it on a high-speed joyride, during which he went on the radio to rant about God and worms

The bizarre incident took place just after 3.30am Thursday, when police say an unnamed man hijacked the ambulance that was used to transport him to Kingwood Medical Center after he caused a disturbance in his neigborhood by uprooting mailboxes

Christy Graves, director of Harris County Emergency Services District 5's operation, said as soon as the vehicle arrived at the hospital, the patient jumped into the driver's seat, which still had the keys in the ignition, and sped off

Police officers from multiple agencies went in pursuit, which lasted for the better part of an hour

As the suspect was driving the stolen ambulance and giving fist bumps to passersby, he switched on the EMS radio and was heard yelling: 'you little brain-washed [expletives]

God's got the microphone now. Obey your god or die,' reported KTRK.He continued: 'we don't let [expletive] worms run our lives

Everybody go home and pray. We have a war. We are at war. Believe in God. I am coming for you

'The chase, which at times reached speeds of more than 90mph, came to an end in the area of Crosby after officers deployed spike strips to disable the ambulance

The Walt Disney Company Privacy Policy The suspect then abandoned the vehicle and fled on foot, but police quickly caught up with him

Video recorded at the scene at around 5am showed the shirtless man with his hands restrained behind his back being led by a police officer to another ambulance

According to authorities, the man was high on an unknown substance when he stole the ambulance and led them on the chase, as Click2Houston reported

It remains unknown at this time what charges the suspect will face in connection to the ambulance theft and police pursuit

Maurizio Sarri's side hold a 2-1 advantage from the first leg and all eyes will be on the Italian to ensure he guides his side through to the next round of the competition

Having crashed out of the FA Cup to Manchester United on Monday and with results inconsistent in the league, Sarri knows he can't afford a slip up this evening

"It's not easy because we have to play every three days. We have no time, but we are trying to solve our problems," he told reporters

In the last match we played better, especially in the first half." He added: "We need to win three or four matches in a row

It's the only solution. I can understand very well the frustration of our fans. They are used to winning, and now we are in trouble

There isn't another way. We only have to have good performances and good results

Royal news : Meghan Markle and Prince Charles: The SECRET bond between Duchess and future King REVE - Duration: 3:31.

Meghan Markle and Prince Charles have shared a close relationship ever since she joined the Royal Family

The first indication they had formed a close bond was when Charles accompanied his future daughter-in-law down the aisle when her father Thomas Markle could not attend the wedding

He stepped in at the last moment so Meghan did not have to walk the aisle alone. Prince Harry spoke about this moment during a BBC documentary celebrating Charles' 70th birthday

He said: "I asked him to and I think he knew it was coming, and he immediately said 'yes, of course, I'll do whatever Meghan needs and I'm to support you'

"For him that's a fantastic opportunity to step up and be that support, and you know he's our father so of course he's gonna be there for us

" When Charles led Meghan to Harry's side at the ceremony at St George's Chapel, the prince turned to his dad and said: "Thank you, Pa

" Prince Charles also moved the nation with his touching gesture to Meghan's mother Doria Ragland, who attended the ceremony alone

He waited for her so they could head into a private room to sign the marriage register together

Camilla, Duchess of Cornwall, said: "A lot of people, seeing my husband actually take the bride's mother by the hand to sign the registry, it's something that moved everybody

"It's the things he does behind the scenes that people don't know about it. I don't think people realise quite how kind he is

" There have been plenty of other times when Meghan and Prince Charles showed their close relationship

The Duchess of Sussex's first appearance after her wedding was as a fully fledged member of the Royal Family at Charles' 70th birthday party

Meghan enjoyed a fun moment with Charles and Camilla at the party at Buckingham Palace as they watched Harry's speech getting interrupted by a bee buzzing around him

They also looked at ease in each other's company for the Royal Air Force's 100th anniversary in June 2018

Prince Charles and Camilla shared a joke with Meghan, while Harry, Kate and William shared in the fun

At the Trooping the Colour in 2018, Meghan and Harry shared a joked with Charles as they stood on the balcony of Buckingham Palace with the rest of the Royal Family

They were also seen enjoying a catch up at the Royal Ascot last June. It was Meghan's debut at the annual event but she seemed comfortable in her surroundings and having her in-laws for extra support

✅ Breaking News - Trainers boycott races in protest against low levels of prize-money - Duration: 5:57.

Trainers have boycotted two races at Lingfield on Saturday in protest against low levels of prize-money

The five-furlong Ladbrokes Novice Stakes had nine entries at the five-day stage but none were declared, while only Nick Litmoden's Greybychoice was declared for the Ladbrokes Home Of The Odds Boost Novice Stakes over a mile, meaning he will take home the entire £4,500 prize fund

Lingfield is owned by Arena Racing Company, which has come in for increasing criticism of late over levels of prize-money at its tracks, after opting to reduce its contributions due to concerns over the impending cut to maximum stakes on Fixed Odds Betting Terminals (FOBTs)

Share this article Share As Lingfield stages one of its headline events in the Winter Derby this weekend, trainer Phil McEntee, who has criticised ARC's stance on social media, hopes the action has maximum effect

'There has been enough of us that have been vociferous about ARC's prize-money for a while, and there are a lot of trainers and owners who wanted ARC to know that going forward we aren't happy,' said McEntee

'What better day to let them know than on Winter Derby day?'We can all see who had entries in the mile maiden - Mark Johnston, John Gosden, Charlie Appleby, Roger Charlton - and I think ARC thought this was a cry for help from the smaller guys who provide the most runners through the year, but it's not just about the smaller trainers

'The prize-money levels we are racing for in 2019 are simply not acceptable and I, for one, am absolutely delighted with what's happened

ARC better take note.'It is not by accident that one was declared in that race either

Somebody had to do something and I'm pleased there has been action. It's up to the trainers to do something about it

This might not be the end of it, but it's a starting point.'ARC will definitely be aware now that it is not just me and a few others who have had their feathers ruffled

'Unfortunately I've had to make an entry at Wolverhampton (which also owned by ARC) on Tuesday because it is owned and bred by some locals who want it to run there, but I'm not happy about it

At the same time, it's not about one individual horse.'My brother came over from America recently and couldn't believe there where Dubawi colts and Frankel colts running for such pitiful sums

We're supposed to have the best racing in the world yet we're running for Third World money

'Archie Watson has been one of the leading trainers at Lingfield since taking out a licence and had entries in both affected races

He said: 'I didn't feel that the prize-money merited me running my horses.'All I can do is talk for myself - I can't talk for anybody else apart from myself and my horses

'I haven't declared my horses because I didn't think the prize-money was suitable for the class (of race)

'I didn't feel I could justify running for that money.'I imagine I trained among the most number of runners at Lingfield last year, and I have absolutely no problem with the track, (clerk of the course) George Hill and his team

'This prize-money (level) has been across the ARC tracks, and it does need to change

The horsemen need to be properly rewarded for providing the runners.'I will decide horse by horse (whether to run in the future)

'Rupert Arnold, chief executive of the National Trainers Federation, believes it is up to trainers where and when they run their horses

He said: 'The NTF supports trainers' rights to exercise their choices on an individual basis

'It is their individual decision whether they support those races or not.'The NTF, Racehorse Owners Association, Racecourse Association and British Horseracing Authority are working together to see if we can help resolve the situation with prize money

'That is an ongoing discussion - there is an industry effort to try to make some progress on this

'ARC's decision to cut its contributions means it no longer receives extra funding from the Levy Board for lower-grade races, but insists 'constructive talks' are ongoing in an attempt to resolve the situation

A spokesman said: 'We have been open about the fact that, unlike 2018, we are no longer in a position to further invest to unlock Levy funding for grassroots racing

'The Racecourse Association has made a proposal that will allow ARC, and all other racecourses, to continue to access the Levy funds assigned to support prize money in this important area of the race programme

This amounts to £4.5 million across our group.'It is disappointing that this situation has occurred in the middle of these constructive talks between horsemen, BHA and racecourses, but we very much hope that they can progress and that this funding situation can be sorted as soon as possible

✅ Breaking News - Handball law to be reworded in bid to end confusion - Duration: 2:08.

New wording on handball is set to be introduced next week in an attempt to end confusion over 'deliberate' contact with the ball

Manchester City's win over Schalke in the Champions League on Wednesday was marred by controversy when the video assistant referee (VAR) awarded a penalty against Nicolas Otamendi for handball, even though the City defender appeared to be trying to get his arm out of the way

Last month, UEFA's chief refereeing office Roberto Rosetti said officials would penalise handballs if defenders used their arms to make their bodies 'bigger' but a new wording of the handball law will be passed at a meeting of the International FA Board (IFAB) in Aberdeen on March 2

Share this article Share David Elleray, the technical director of IFAB, told The Times: 'The new text will clarify those situations where players can expect contact with the arms to be penalised and where they can expect not to be penalised

It will significantly reduce the grey areas around handball.'We will be identifying those areas were non-deliberate contact will be penalised and when it won't be

'There will still of course be a reference to deliberate handball, there has never been any discussion about getting rid of that, and any deliberate handball will be penalised in any situation

'The referee initially gave a corner after the ball deflected off Otamendi but Schalke's claims of handball were eventually backed up by the VAR after a confusing delay of more than three minutes

There was no clarity on whether Otamendi had handled deliberately and, adding to the farce, the referee could not review the incident himself as the pitchside monitor was broken
