The 19-year-old was poised to become the latest English youngster to make the switch to the Bundesliga

Jadon Sancho and Reiss Nelson have flourished since joining Borussia Dortmund and Hoffenheim

According to The Sun, Emery blocked Nketiah's departure because of the Gunners lack of success in the transfer market

They have completed a deal for Denis Suarez who finally sealed a loan switch from Barcelona

Arsenal failed with moves for Yannick Carrasco and Ivan Perisic. There had been hope that Arsenal would get one of the wingers

Carrasco is keen on leaving Dalian Yifang but is likely to stay put this month. Both Milan clubs were also in the race for the Belgian international who wants to move back to Europe

Arsenal initially made contact with Inter Milan for Perisic on Saturday. They were keen on taking him on loan for the remainder of the season with an option to buy

The Croatian handed in a transfer request to try and force a move away from the San Siro

Inter CEO Giuseppe Marotta has insisted that the club will only allow him to leave if the move makes financial sense

Luciano Spalletti and the board are only willing to grant Perisic's exit if it is a permanent deal

Nketiah's Arsenal team mate Emile Smith Rowe could be set to move to the Bundesliga

He is having a medical with RB Leipzig ahead of a loan deal. The deal will not include an option to buy

Liverpool transfer news: Jurgen Klopp in limbo as Ben Woodburn deal breaks down - Duration: 3:20.

The youngster spent the first half of the season on loan at Sheffield United and had been linked with a second move of the campaign

But he is now set to stay with Liverpool for the remainder of the season, according to the Evening Standard

Liverpool had wanted to send him out again to build first team experience but Jurgen Klopp could even use the Wales forward after Dominic Solanke joined Bournemouth earlier this month

Woodburn will compete with Daniel Sturrige and Divock Origi for a spot on the bench behind the main trio of Roberto Firmino, Mohamed Salah and Sadio Mane

Woodburn, 19, made just seven Championship appearances for United, and six of them came off the bench

But Klopp may look to use the teenager as they battle Manchester City for the Premier League title

Liverpool missed the chance to go seven points clear yesterday with a 1-1 draw against Leicester but remain in the driving seat in the title race

However, Klopp is happy with the five-point advantage they currently have and spelled out just how difficult they know life will be in the final three months of the season

"We have to accept the result, which is no problem," he said. "We don't think we run through the league and beat everybody

We got a point. Not perfect but still good enough. "Am I disappointed after we don't win a game? Of course I am

But I don't bring it together with the Man City game. I understand all these thoughts, but what shall we do now? "It's easy to ask all these questions, but we have to make sure that we are not influenced too much by these things

"The boys are normal human beings, I am a normal human being. We want to win a game and we don't, so we don't feel brilliant

Trending  "But then we have to talk about what does it mean for the Man City thing? Not too much to be honest

"We have a point more than before. That's not exactly what we wanted to have, but still everything is fine in the moment

"Now we have a few days to prepare West Ham, and we go again. Then Bournemouth and we go again

"That's what we do, not counting points and hoping for gaps between us and other teams

We have to win our football games. That didn't happen and so we are not happy about that, but nothing more

"

✅ Breaking News - Brighton manager Chris Hughton praises his departure for United at Solskjaer - Duration: 3:28.

Brighton boss Chris Hughton has praised Ole Gunnar Solskjaer's record-breaking impact at Manchester United in the wake of dismissive comments from Paul Ince

Solskjaer has won six successive games since being appointed, the first person to do so, but former United midfielder Ince has talked down the achievement and claimed 'anyone' could have produced the same results following the departure of Jose Mourinho

Hughton, who takes his Albion side to Old Trafford on Saturday, feels Ince's assessment of the situation is unfair

Share this article Share 'I don't think just anybody could have gone in and had the record that he has now,' said Hughton

'I think you have to give him credit for that. In whatever way he has done that - and I don't know what way that is - he's got results

'They haven't lost for six games. You have to give them a lot of praise for that. Any manager coming in after Mourinho, I don't think they could have expected any more because the results and the performances indicate that

We know how difficult every game is.'Solskjaer was eased into his interim role with four league fixtures against teams currently in the bottom half of the table and a routine FA Cup third-round tie at home to Championship strugglers Reading

The 45-year-old, who scored 126 goals for United between 1996 and 2007, recorded his most impressive victory to date by beating top-four rivals Tottenham 1-0 at Wembley last weekend

Hughton attended that game and has been impressed with United's improved performances and attacking intent

'Seeing their recent games, they are playing a way that allows the quality and pace in their side to show, and they look like they can score goals,' he said

'They're aggressive in the way they are pressing, so at this moment they are in really good form which makes it a more difficult task for us

'The results speak for themselves. They have been able to win games and score goals and play really well

'Brighton have beaten United twice in the Premier League since promotion in 2017. Both of those wins came at the Amex Stadium against teams managed by Mourinho

'The one this season kick-started our season after a poor performance at Watford. Both were very important results

It lifts you as a team,' said Hughton.'I think we're better away from home than we were last season, but it's about getting as many points as well

That's difficult, particularly against a club like United. But we're ready.'Hughton, who does not anticipate making any January signings, expects out-of-favour left-back Markus Suttner to complete an imminent loan move to an unnamed club

BBC News blunder sees Spitfires take off while presenter says Theresa May will head back to Brussels - Duration: 4:12.

The BBC's News at Six was involved in an extraordinary blunder last night after using a film of a Spitfire taking off to fight the Nazis to illustrate the Prime Minister's next battle with the EU

The show's 5million viewers were left dumbfounded when Mrs May's imminent Brussels sortie was explained using footage of a squadron of fighter planes over Biggin Hill in 1940

The error came as host Sophie Raworth, 50, explained that Theresa May will be travelling to Europe to renegotiate the controversial Irish backstop in her Brexit deal

But instead of showing her in the Commons yesterday, they accidentally chose archive footage of Battle of Britain pilots taking off from Kent to fight the Luftwaffe

Today the BBC was forced to admit it was 'human error' not a rogue journalist playing a prank or an attempt to broadcast 'anti-EU propaganda', as claimed by some viewers

Many viewers found the incident 'hilarious' with some 'crying tears of laughter' as a result of the blunder

But a much smaller group claimed it was deliberate act to stoke up tensions over Brexit, a claim vehemently denied by the BBC today

The programme's editor said it was a mistake - not a 'subliminal message' that some pro-EU viewers claimed

Paul Royall tweeted last night: 'For those wondering - simple human error at end of #BBCNewsSix

A production mistake meant pictures used earlier to tease story about Biggin Hill ended up in our top story recap at close of show

If and when it happens pretty certain PM not travelling to Brussels like this'.The clip has been shared thousands of times online

Simon Cousins spotted the mistake and tweeted: 'What just happened during the closing headlines on the BBC's 6 o'clock news? Voice over about Theresa May heading back to Europe over black and white archive of presumably RAF aircraft during WW2

WTF?' Jon Tonge said: 'Theresa May heading back to Brussels but this method indicated on the 6 o'clock news seems drastic'

Will Guyatt wrote: 'Wonderful moment on the BBC 6 O'clock News as Theresa May heads to Brussels in a Spitfire

#brexit'.But Dan Castro, who describes himself as a 'hapless socialist' on Twitter, wrote: 'The end of the 6 O'Clock news was

Interesting.#bbcbias'.Another critic, calling himself 'John le Remainer', wrote: 'Yeah, that's going to impress the EU
