The Gunners are desperate to bolster their ranks before tomorrow's deadline and William Gallas wants Emery to phone Ed Woodward
Emery has mounting injury issues with Sokratis Papastathopoulos ruled out for a month
Rob Holding and Hector Bellerin are both already long-term casualties. Arsenal wanted Bailly, 24, on loan for the rest of the season with a purchase option included in the deal
But despite Emery's overtures, United knocked back the approach. Old Trafford chiefs seemingly were not keen to do business with a rival
Gallas, however, wants Emery to try again and enquire about Mata while he's at it
"I think Eric Bailly would be an excellent signing for Arsenal," he told LeoVegas Sport
"Arsenal have a lot of games to play and they need to qualify for the Champions League
"Arsenal have a lot of defensive injuries so a player of his quality is very important
"I think that he would be a better signing that Conor Coady would be from Wolves
Eric Bailly knows the Premier League very well. "Mata is a little bit older so he can bring in experience alongside his quality
"However, I don't think Manchester United will sell to Arsenal now because there is no need to
" Moves for Bailly and Mata might not look too likely, but Denis Suarez appears to be inbound
Barcelona confirmed his exit earlier today before swiftly deleting the announcement
In a statement, Barcelona said: "FC Barcelona and Denis Suarez have reached an agreement for the extension of the player's contract with the club, which ended on 30 June 2020, until 30 June 2021
"FC Barcelona have also agreed a loan deal for Suárez with Arsenal for the remainder of the 2018/19 season
"The Premier League club will pay the player's salary during this time and the agreement includes an option to buy
"The Galician midfielder puts an end to his second spell at Barca after featuring for Barca B in the 2013/14 season and for the first team since the summer of 2016
After loan spells with Sevilla and Villarreal, Barça exercised the buy-back clause in his contact for him to return to Camp Nou
"In total, Denis Suarez played 71 goals official matches in three seasons with the first team at FC Barcelona
He managed to score 8 goals and has won five trophies: a league, two Copas del Rey and two Spanish Super Cups
With Barça B he made 36 appearances." Suarez has been a bit-part player at the Nou Camp this season
He has made just two La Liga appearances and isn't fancied by Ernesto Valverde.
