Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp has provided an update on the status of five Reds first team players ahead of the team's clash with Leicester City on Wednesday
Klopp's side welcome the Foxes to Anfield after a week and a half absence from competition, and Klopp has hinted at which of his players may or may not be available to play
"Virgil [Van Dijk] was a little bit ill but he trained yesterday so we will see," he said at his pre match press conference, as cited by Sky Sports
"He will train today and we will see. "Dejan [Lovren] is fine. Gini [Wijnaldum] trained
Fabinho will train today. Trent [Alexander-Arnold] is getting closer and closer, it looks all very positive but he will not be ready for tomorrow
" OPINION There's a lot to digest here. The headline news is that Van Dijk has been suffering with illness and may not be able to feature against the Foxes as a result
However, the fact that he trained on Monday and will on Tuesday is positive news and would suggest that he will play on Wednesday
Even if he doesn't make it, though, the fact that Lovren is back to full fitness means that Liverpool will have a full compliment of centre backs against Leicester even if the imperious Dutchman doesn't make it
If Van Dijk misses out, then Lovren and Matip will start. It's not the same as having Van Dijk but it's better than nothing
Hopefully Wijnaldum and Fabinho will both be able to line up in midfield, especially the Brazilian who has been tremendous of late
It's positive news with Alexander-Arnold, too, and his return can't come soon enough
