Brighton boss Chris Hughton has praised Ole Gunnar Solskjaer's record-breaking impact at Manchester United in the wake of dismissive comments from Paul Ince

Solskjaer has won six successive games since being appointed, the first person to do so, but former United midfielder Ince has talked down the achievement and claimed 'anyone' could have produced the same results following the departure of Jose Mourinho

Hughton, who takes his Albion side to Old Trafford on Saturday, feels Ince's assessment of the situation is unfair

Share this article Share 'I don't think just anybody could have gone in and had the record that he has now,' said Hughton

'I think you have to give him credit for that. In whatever way he has done that - and I don't know what way that is - he's got results

'They haven't lost for six games. You have to give them a lot of praise for that. Any manager coming in after Mourinho, I don't think they could have expected any more because the results and the performances indicate that

We know how difficult every game is.'Solskjaer was eased into his interim role with four league fixtures against teams currently in the bottom half of the table and a routine FA Cup third-round tie at home to Championship strugglers Reading

The 45-year-old, who scored 126 goals for United between 1996 and 2007, recorded his most impressive victory to date by beating top-four rivals Tottenham 1-0 at Wembley last weekend

Hughton attended that game and has been impressed with United's improved performances and attacking intent

'Seeing their recent games, they are playing a way that allows the quality and pace in their side to show, and they look like they can score goals,' he said

'They're aggressive in the way they are pressing, so at this moment they are in really good form which makes it a more difficult task for us

'The results speak for themselves. They have been able to win games and score goals and play really well

'Brighton have beaten United twice in the Premier League since promotion in 2017. Both of those wins came at the Amex Stadium against teams managed by Mourinho

'The one this season kick-started our season after a poor performance at Watford. Both were very important results

It lifts you as a team,' said Hughton.'I think we're better away from home than we were last season, but it's about getting as many points as well

That's difficult, particularly against a club like United. But we're ready.'Hughton, who does not anticipate making any January signings, expects out-of-favour left-back Markus Suttner to complete an imminent loan move to an unnamed club

Liverpool transfer news: PSG captain Thiago Silva makes Adrien Rabiot admission - Duration: 2:50.

Rabiot has been linked with a move away from PSG this month as his contract continues to wind down

The midfielder will be out of contract in the summer, and has reportedly told the club that he will not sign a new deal

This leaves PSG in a difficult situation, as they need the star for the rest of the season, but cannot risk letting one of the most talented youngsters in the world leave for free

The Parisians have reportedly demanded £5million for the star, with Barcelona desperate to sign him

Along with Barca, there has also been reported interest from a host of Premier League clubs, including Liverpool, Tottenham and Arsenal

Talksport reports that the midfielder has been forced to train with the PSG under-23 squad, and will not play with the first team again

And speaking after PSG's 9-0 win over Guingamp, Silva admitted that if Rabiot leaves, it won't necessarily be a bad thing

"A mistake to let him leave? I do not say that he is," he said to Telefoot. "He made his decision and the club in turn took its own

"He is a good boy. "But he made his choice and we must respect it. "Now, we need to work for a midfield that can help us without Rabiot

" Speaking before the Guingamp game, Tuchel confirmed that Rabiot was not part of his immediate plans

"I have to prepare my team for Guingamp and it will be a team without Adrien Rabiot," he said

"I respect the club's decision. "And it is a decision of the club."

Man Utd transfer news: Why Marouane Fellaini exit may NOT happen today - Duration: 2:21.

That's according to Sky Sports reporter James Cooper.

The Belgian is set to join Shandong Luneng and according to his Instagram he's on his way to China to finalise terms on a three-year deal.

** TRANSFER NEWS LIVE: ALL THE BREAKING DEADLINE DAY GOSSIP, DEALS AND RUMOURS **

Fellaini has struggled for regular game time under new boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer and is keen for a switch.

But despite progress on his transfer, Fellaini may not officially leave United today as Chinese Super League clubs have another month to sign players.

"I think one thing that is progressing nicely from Marouane Fellaini's point of view is his transfer to the Chinese Super League," Cooper told Sky Sports News.

"A lot of paperwork going back and forth this morning, I think these transfers tend to be pretty protractive.

"And then the problem is it's not time-dependant either, another month on the Chinese window.

"And it could be, although Man United would love to do something today, that it could drag on a little bit as well."

Fellaini has one year left on his Old Trafford deal and he's set to be handed a hefty pay rise in China.

Antonio Valencia and Matteo Darmian may be the other United departures today but there are unlikely to be any incomings.

And Beyond the Pitch podcast host Pilib De Brun has predicted Romelu Lukaku could be on his way out soon as well.

"It's a flawed United team, we know that," he said.

"There are certain positions in that team that need to be strengthened.

"Right back is clearly an issue. I don't know if [Diogo] Dalot is the answer there. Obviously, Valencia's been there.

"But even now the summer has become a lot clearer. You can say, 'Alright, this is United's team that doesn't need another six, seven, eight players. This a United team that needs a right back, a centre back, possibly a right winger.'

"Here's my belief, United playing the way United should play. I wonder if there's a place in that starting line-up for Lukaku?

"Lukaku's going to have to improve as a footballer. He can definitely be effective but will he start over a front three of Sanchez, Martial and Rashford? I just don't think so."
