Licancabur has 5918 meters above sea level

even if you don´t believe it, the volcano over there with snow on top

it´s the Sairecabur which has almost 6000 meters above sea level

In this area are 18 volcanoes

and just two are active

we are in the salt desert of Atacama

the fourth biggest salt desert in the world

The first one is Uyuni, the second is Salt Lake City, in the United States

the third Salinas Grandes in Argentina and you are looking at the fourth one

This one is the Salar (salt desert)

and San Pedro is part of the Salar de Atacama

but it´s an oasis

Why do I tell you that?

Here in Chile we have two mountain ranges

the Andes mountain range and the Chilean coast range

but in this region, in the area of Antofagasta

This mountain range is called Cordillera de Domeyko

so what is happening is that between the Andes and Domeyko is the Salar of Atacama

Between Domeyko and the coast is the driest desert of the world
