Arsenal news : Why Unai Emery tactics could prove costly at Cardiff Danny Higginbotham | AFC News - Duration: 2:24.

That's the view of Sky Sports pundit Danny Higginbotham, who says he feels that Neil

Warnock's men can cause real problems for the Gunners.

Arsenal will be hoping to make it two wins in a row when they travel to the Welsh capital

on Sunday after their come from behind win over West Ham sparked their season last time

out.

Emery has endured a tough start since replacing Arsene Wenger at the the Emirates, losing

to Premier League champions Manchester City and Chelsea in his first two matches.

The former Sevilla and Paris Saint-Germain boss is known for his high-pressing style

of play and this has so far led to problems at the back.

In all three league matches so far, the opposition has had countless opportunities and West Ham

could have actually won the game on another day.

While a high press can be effective, Arsenal must ensure their backline is better positioned

this weekend, says Higginbotham.

"West Ham should have won the game," he told Sky Sports.

"They should have been out of sight by half-time but they missed a lot of chances.

"In the average position map, there's too much space, there's too much space down the

side of Arsenal's centre-backs.

It caused a lot of problems against West Ham.

"Arsenal wanted to be on the front foot but West Ham were able to quickly turn defence

into attack."

It may yet take weeks for Emery to fully get his message across to the players as they

try to adjust to the new way of thinking.

The system allows the full-backs to push forward and help out the other attacking players but

this can leave the centre-backs exposed.

While Sunday's opponents Cardiff are known for their physical approach, the pace they

have on the wings and the likes of Josh Murphy means they could have success running at Arsenal's

covering centre-backs.

"The last thing a centre-back wants to have to do is to come outside the width of the

18-yard box," said Higginbotham.

"Bellerin is ending up a centre-back.

It's all over the place.
