Waching daily Aug 30 2018

That's the opinion of Newcastle legend Alan Shearer. United beat Leicester at Old Trafford in their Premier League opener, however, defeats to Brighton and Tottenham soon followed

And the back-to-back losses means United have suffered their worst start to a Premier League season since the top division was revamped in 1992

United's woeful start to the campaign has put Jose Mourinho's future at the club in serious doubt

And Shearer believes the poor transfer window and shocking start to the new season could result in Manchester United failing to mount a title charge but Mourinho could soon be shown the door at Old Trafford

"This Manchester United team will be nowhere near winning the league this season," Shearer said in his column for Coral

"I don't see how it is going to change for them as there appears to be a huge gap in communication between the manager and the vice-chairman

"I am not saying it should happen, but normally its the manager who loses out in this situation

" The troubles at Old Trafford come after a poor summer in the transfer window. Mourinho signed just three players during the summer sales – Lee Grand, Fred and Diogo Dalot

The Portuguese manager was desperate to bring in a new central defender, however, chairman Ed Woodward was unable to meet Mourinho's demands

"There is no doubt that the relationship between him and Ed Woodward is not great," Shearer added

"He made a point against Spurs of playing Herrera at centre-back when he had defenders who were fit to play on the bench

"If that isn't sending a message to his vice-chairman, I don't know what is. He clearly did not get the players he wanted in the summer

"It was well documented that he wanted a centre-half. He also talked a while back about how maybe he should now be called the head coach and not the manager

"That is also a dig at the at the vice-chairman, implying he has no control of the players he brings in or sells

"I don't think he is going to ride this out. He should be given time as he is one of the most successful managers of his time and we are only three games into the season

"We must remember United finished second last season and had a very good defensive record

"Against Tottenham in the second half, they were hopeless at the back and they could not live with Spurs

"Moura and Kane were too good for them. If Lukaku had stuck in his chance in the first half, it could have been different story but it is all ifs and buts

Real Madrid transfer news: Perez SLAMS Inter over cheeky Modric bid, Italian side react - Duration: 1:55.

Real Madrid midfielder Modric was named the best player in last season's Champions League during today's group stage draw

That adds to his accolade as the best player at the World Cup this summer. Modric supposedly angled for a transfer to Inter Milan this summer but the deal never materialised

Inter are said to have tried to secure a loan move, with the permanent transfer coming next summer when they could offset the fee onto a new financial year

But Perez has revealed he was shocked by the way Inter tried to land Real Madrid's star playmaker

"I have never seen a club want to buy our no 10 without paying for him," Perez told reporters before the group draw in Monaco

"This is the first time this has happened to me in my life." A number of Italian newspapers are supposedly set to release more of the interview with Perez on Friday

The transfer window in Spain, Germany, France and Scotland closes on Friday. But Italy's shut earlier this month, meaning Modric will not be leaving the Bernabeu for Inter

Perez's claims were put to Inter vice president Javier Zanetti, who told ANSA: "I have not heard these statements yet

"When I do we will evaluate them with the club at the appropriate level."

Trump cancels raises for public workers because of deficit - Daily News - Duration: 3:24.

President Trump said Thursday that civilian employees working for the federal government won't get pay raises next year to save money as the federal budget deficit continues to skyrocket on his watch

"In light of our Nation's fiscal situation, Federal employee pay must be performance-based, and aligned strategically toward recruiting, retaining, and rewarding high-performing Federal employees and those with critical skill sets," Trump wrote in a letter to House Speaker Paul Ryan

A 2.1 percent across-the-board increase was scheduled to go into effect in January

The proposal would affect most of the 2.1 million federal employees across the US, about 1

7 million of whom live outside of the Washington, DC area, The Hill reported.  Members of the military will still receive a promised 2

6 percent pay increase.  The move comes as the federal government has been running up huge deficits since Trump took office, fueled largely by corporate tax cuts and increased bi-partisan spending bills

The government ran a monthly budget deficit of $77 billion in July, up 79 percent over the same month in 2017, MarketWatch reported

For the first 10 months of fiscal 2018, the shortfall totaled $684 billion, according to the Treasury Department — an increase of 21 percent compared to the same period in 2017

The government is getting less money from both corporations and individuals in the wake of the GOP tax cuts, which Trump and lawmakers insisted at the time would pay for themselves

Corporate revenues were down 34 percent as companies enjoyed a reduced 21 percent tax rate, the website reported

Spending, meanwhile, jumped by 10 percent in July — the last month for which figures are available — as the government spent more cash for defense and other programs

Congressional budget analysts predict the deficit for the full year will be about 19 percent larger than last year's shortfall, the result of both the Republican tax law and spending boosts approved by lawmakers earlier this year

The Congressional Budget Office predicted trillion-dollar deficits will return in 2020 — contradicting Trump's claims on the campaign trail that he would cut the deficit and balance the country's budget
