it has been a long time since the las time we talked
but it was just crazy between my pregnancy
and then adapting to the baby
she is wonderful she is calm and sleeps a lot
Now we are coordinated
We have a routine
I Also know now what she needs
And in this Video I want to tell you
my family and friends
How was the day Lu was born
where were we?
what were we doing?, EVERYTHING
let's start
I was 39 weeks pregnant
I had weeks of pregnancy every Friday
It was Monday and
Last Friday I just turned 39 weeks
that specific Monday
we had a hole day planned
because Nick's parents were coming next Wednesday
My due date was next Friday
that was the estimated
so technically I still had 5 more days
before turning 40 weeks
that was when Lu was supposed to come
But it didn't happened like that
she wanted to come earlier
so, that Monday we did Laundry
grocery shopping for the weeks
buy stuffs to fix some stuffs at home
for when Nick's parents come
we had to go to the mail office
pick up some packages
a really busy day
I woke up early that day
for some reason I couldn't go back to sleep after 4 am
I don't know why
we were at base at 9 am
running all our errands
buy stuffs, groceries the laundry
that day I felt like really dumb
My mind was not with me
because I forgot so many things that day
I forgot my purse at the post office
I almost lost the car keys
I forgot about the laundry
we already had driven half way home
when suddenly I yelled the LAUNDRY!!
we never picked it up
So we had to go back
because you leave the laundry in the drier
but once is done you need to pick it up
I felt so tired that day
and also felt
how my belly was contracting
it got contracted and then soft again
But it wasn't painful at all
so we thought it was BH contractions
my belly did it all morning
we got home around 1.30
we didn't have lunch
but we were so tired
that we said: Let's relax for 30 minutes
and then we cook something
I lay down in bed planning to sleep
and get some rest
but 10 minutes later
I felt like water
YES water
I felt like when your period comes and you feel it
So I stood Up
As I was awake I stood up fast
so the bed didn't get wet
I went to the bathroom
and it was like I was peeing
but I couldn't control it
water was running and running
I call Nick, he was downstairs
I said:NICK???
I think my water broke !!
WHAT!!
we got scared and nervous
didn't know what to do
I asked him to get me another panty
because mine was wet
but he was running form one side to another
he was calling his mom his friends
his sisters
and I was still in the restroom waiting for my panty
Like please help ???
he said What we do now?? what we do?
and kept running side to side
up and down the stairs
he helped when we calmed down
I wanted to take a shower
because I was really dirty
I was tired and starving
and our plan of relax 30 minutes and then eat
didn't work
and we still had a lot to do
but LU said no
I want to come right now !!
in the moment less expected
the other days I was ready all the time
Rested, cleaned
with my hair done and my nails
that's what I tried to do every day
so once she come I look and feel good
also the pictures I wanted to look good lol
but that day may nails were cracked
from all day doing errands
I was dirty
but we ran to the hospital like that
both stinky
they checked me at the hospital
they received me in that moment
because all the problems I had during pregnancy
they wanted to keep me check
normally I know they send you home
and say come back when you are 6 or 7 cm dilated
I was 2 cm
so they gave me a room
they gave me my IV
still have the mark
I didn't have any pain at all
But My belly kept contracting
got contracted and the relax all the time
it was pass 2 when we got to the hospital
till we got conformable and everything it got 3 pm
we were just chilling and chatting
thankfully we had the bag ready in the car
at least was what we thought
because once we got there
we realised that we were missing so much
I didn't have a towel
Lu had everything but mittens
because they asked us for mittens
also socks
I just had hats pyjamas
and onesies
So Nick had to go back home for that
also the dogs
he went back home pick what we need
and then came back with me
it was around 4.30
we play some video games
and still no pain
we were happy and waiting
We planned or well we thought we planned
that when the moment comes
one friend of us was gonna take care of our puppies
but he couldn't
I was 9 pm and I started to cry
because my puppies had been all day in the cage
they didn't eat
I was extra sensitive
So I called a friend and thankfully she could go the next day to take care of them
because Nick's parents were getting home Wednesday
So as I wasn't in any pain
we decided he can go home
take care of the dogs for that night
and in case I feel some pain I will call him
in that way he could be rested
and sleep in a bed because he just had a chair at the hospital
the hospital was 15 minutes from home
so that work for everybody
he left at 10 pm
I was calm
I tried to get some rest Iwas so tired
I want to clarify how extremely tired we were haha
So I tried to get some rest but I couldn't
I was so happy and nervous at the same time
I couldn't wait for LU to be here
so around 1.30
I started to feel a lightly pain
but I wasn't sure if I should call NICK
at 1.45 the pain was getting worse
So I called him before it got even worse
he left the puppies and came back
we try to support the pain a long as we could
but wasn't working
around 3 I asked the nurse to get e check
I told her I could not handle It anymore
and please to get me the epidural
he checked me and told us
that I was just 3 cm
and she said they won't give me the epidural Till I hit at least 4 cm
3 cm all in all day !!WHY???
OH MY GOD !!
And there where supposed to be 10 cm
I couldn't handle the pain
I said let me go
I don't want anything thank you haha
A total drama because im like that
a drama queen
the nurse told be to calm down
she said she can let me be in the bath tub
so I can relax in hot water
and that would help me handling the contractions
so we said yes
we were in the tub
trying to get trough every contraction
Nick helped me with some massages
the lights were off
4 am they called the doctor
I laid down on bed to get checked
and get the epidural
the doctor came and I swear I saw angels
when I saw that man
I said Thank you God !!
Please give me the epidural
but he took his time
he asked me how bad was my pain
from 0 to 10
I screamed 8 !! or 9 !! I don't know !!
he said ok I will prepare everything
I was happy !
my pain was going down soon
I thought It was gonna take 10 or 15 min
but he really took his time
he chat with the nurses
asked how was their day
They turn me on me side
like fetal position
I was waiting and waiting
contractions came and went
but the doctor kept talking and chatting
and I was in so much pain !
but he said no you're ok
just relax
4.30 am I got the epidural
I was suffering for 30 min
I hated him at the end
because he made me beg
I really told him: please please give me the epidural pleaseeeeee
so here in Italy
I don't know how it is in other countries
I think in the US the pain is reduced to 0
here in Italy they can't do that
If my pain was a 9
they reduced it to a 4
the doctor said no more
and I could handle a 4
it felt like the first contraction
I felt when I called Nick
so I was feeling better
I tried to rest between each contraction
Every time a contraction came it woke me up
but I tried since I was really tired
That epidural didn't last much
at 5.30 am I was asking for more
that dosis was faster
he just came and gave me the shot
because everything was already there
I felt better again
and kept resting
Nick was sleeping too
from all that crazy day
the second time I asked for the epidural
I was 5 cm dilated
at 7 am when I asked for more epidural
the nurse checked me and said
I was 9 cm dilated
and they couldn't give me the epidural at that point
I was far and if I get more dosis there was a risk
7.15 she told me I had to stand up
and try to go pee or poop
even if you don't want to
so I tried and I walked a bit
it was about 7.30
and my pain was so bad that
I couldn't support my wight with my legs
My hips hurt a lot
every time a contraction came
the only thing I wanted was
not feeling my legs
I felt like my body weight
was too much pressure
on my hips and legs
Nick held my arm
and try to carry me
every time a contraction came
while I just like melted every time
that was complicated
since I was so heavy
with my big belly and everything
poor hubby
the nurse helped us
with a position
to relief my pain
but that wasn't working
My pain was still there
I was almost 8 am
yes 8 am to be exact
and I was hungry
I hadn't eaten anything all day
I ate around 6
and then nothing after that
and as I was all night awake
I was really hungry
so at that time
I asked the nurse for food
I feel weak
and they brought me sweet tea and cookies
I drunk it
after that
I couldn't be on my feet
I spent 30 min up
because I didn't want to lay down
So I decided to lay down
and try to find a position
I tried the normal position first
the one laid on my back
but that position was so painful for me
the only thing that that relaxed me
was being on mi side
so I turned
but I couldn't close my legs
like the normal position
because I felt the baby between my legs
and that didn't let me
so I had to have my legs like this
open all the time but on my side
but support my legs by myself
was painful
as I told you my hips hurt a lot
and the contractions on top
it was too much
so I asked nick to hold my leg
so he was trying to hold it
while I was screaming
but I was heavy and in that position for long time
so some times it started to fall
my hubby held my leg for more than 40 min
at 8.30 I was telling the nurse
that I feel like pushing but I don't know if I can
she said push If you feel like it
so I did
but the doctor said that I needed a couple more minutes
because even when I was 10 cm
and feeling like pushing
my cerviz wasn't soft enough
it needed to be a bit more tender
pass 8.30 she said
the baby will be here any moment
you are ready
so my next contraction I pushed
the second push
by my third push she said
"I can see the head"
but as you know was my first time doing this
and I didn't know
that between contractions you need to breath
not push
so my midwife was trying to tell me that
she said:
try to breath and relax between contractions
the baby need it !
there was many people there
3 midwives, the doctor
and 2 students that were watching
they wore other color
so everybody was saying "breath, Breath"
I pushed
they saw the head
and kept yelling breath breath
all those people
so there was a moment
at some point
that everyone yelled at the same time even Nick
so I screamed out loud
I DONT WANNA BREATH !!
After that I pushed and the head was out
the midwife said
We have the head don't worry
this will end soon
next pushed all the body was out
and LU was here
it was 8.59
she came health y
thanks God
I almost forget
between 8.30-8.40
when started to push,
After the first push
and after that I started so say
NO!!I can't do this
I can't I can't !
I was almost crying and nervous
so the midwifes held me and said:
RELAX!!
you're a strong woman
you can do it this is the moment
she gave me such a motivational speech
after that I was so empowered
I was like YES I CAN DO IT !!
She was so nice with me
and so patient haha
thanks to that everything went well
we did skin to skin
for 30 or 40 minutes after she was born
the midwife said at the end:
"Your did it, she is beautiful,
here is your baby"
we took pictures,
Nick held her too
it was beautiful
after that they took her
showered her and got her dressed
they back to my chest
for a bit more
after that we went to our room
Nick was so in love with her
he wanted to her her all the time
he still wants to
well, that was my experience
I know that many husbands
hold their wife's hand
but my husband held my leg
that counts too
she was 7.7 pounds
50 cm long
she is gorgeous
I will show you my baby
she just woke up
