Babylon arrived and passed, the 7 orders are complete, mankind was saved, Rin finally joined the game, and the only thing I rolled in the christmas event was a Sumanai.
Anyways, you know the rules by now.
And if you don't, then I question why you opened a Part 4 video.
Today, the Servants from Fate Grand Order, the mobile game.
Oh hey, type-moon remembered it's eroge roots.
Elizabeth Bathory Brave is the free Servant from the second Halloween event, after being expelled from her own castle by Cleopatra, her Caster and Lancer selves fused into… this…
Inspired by Dragon Quest, her attitude changes into that of an RPG protagonist, though she doesn't actually knows swordsmanship.
Her Noble Phantasm is Bathory Brave Erzebeth, which uses her sound waves for a new attack.
Okay, let's rewind it.
That's better
With more pride than her other selves, this Liz is sure her friendship with her master won't be broken by a civilization destroying sword, a theater, or a fox's curses.
With more pride than her other selves, this Liz is sure her friendship with her master won't be broken by a civilization destroying sword, a theater, or a fox's curses.
The Mesopotamian goddess of fertility, love and war. Daughter of Anu, the king of Gods, Ishtar is famous in myths due to her many lovers, her descent to the underworld,
and being rejected by the hero Gilgamesh, fact that resulted in the death of his best friend, Enkidu.
And this clearly is Rin, or at least in part. Gods can't be summoned as Servants in a regular way, in this case, Ishtar is a pseudo-servant,
a special case in which a mortal is used as a vessel to summon a Divine Spirit.
Which results in a meld of personalities, roughly 70% is Ishtar's and the other 30% is RIn's, which helps tone down some of the goddess negative traits.
Her weapon is both a ship and a bow, and her noble phantasm fires the concept of Venus.
Yeah, I have no clue what that means either, but I know I don't want to take a planet to the face.
Jeanne d'Arc Alter Santa Lily Lancer.
Not sure if that's a tongue twister or a reminder of how low we've fallen.
Jeanne Alter's Lily version, during the second Christmas event, Jeanne tried to steal one of Gilgamesh's potions to take control of the holidays, but instead of drinking the invisibility one she grabs his elixir of youth… hence this…
The simple fact is that Jeanne Alter did not exist, and Jeanne Alter Lily is even more ridiculous of a notion, the result is a Servant with an unstable identity,
someone that doesn't have to grow up into the Saint or the Witch, a Servant that isn't tied to any myth.
Her Noble Phantasm reflects her role as a middle point, combining the support and attack roles of her adult selves.
Lily is a terrible Santa, only giving practical gifts, but her search for purpose is quite endearing.
I SAID I'M NOT A LOLICON!
One of the main characters in the Epic of Gilgamesh, when the people of Uruk complain about Gilgamesh's cruelty to the gods, the goddess Aruru creates Enkidu from clay as his rival
originally a wild man, Enkidu eventually faces Gilgamesh, but surprisingly after their duel, they become best friends, and embark on many adventures.
Enkidu had already appeared, and in this very class, but Strange Fake, the novel where he debuted, is not that well known.
Fate's take is almost identical as far as his background goes, but even after his friendship with Gil, Enkidu never saw himself as anything but a tool, another weapon on Gil's vault.
Enkidu is the polar opposite of Gilgamesh, humble and considerate, bordering on low self-esteem, empathic and loved by everybody, If Gilgamesh is a jerk that occasionally shows heart, Enkidu is a calm individual that occasionally says incredibly sarcastic lines.
His Noble Phantasm is also Enuma Elish, but instead of using Ea, he is the weapon, and it's power rises based on the damage his opponent has caused to earth.
While the Babylon subtitle made it seem like Enkidu would be the main helper, the events of the Order happen after his death,
the Enkidu that appears there can't be alive, but contradictorily, he is not a Servant either…
Medusa, possibly the most famous monster in all of greek myths, though due to it's age, one with a somewhat unstable story.
The common traits on most of her versions are the snake hair, and her petrifying glare.
Which sometimes is a divine gift, since she lacked her sisters immortality, and in others the simple result of her horrifying appearance.
The young version of Rider from Stay Night, this time under the Lancer class, a Medusa that had yet to grow, a Medusa before Athena's curse, a Medusa that believed she'd eventually be the same as her sisters.
Despite her rarity she's technically Medusa's weakest variant, since the closer she is to becoming a monster, the stronger she'll be.
Her Noble Phantasm is Caress of the Medusa, where she briefly gains the skills of her adult self.
And it results in a laser beam
Karna would be proud.
JAGUAR PUNCH
JAGUAR KICK
JAGUAR EYE
Why is Taiga in this game!?
Another Pseudo-Servant, the fusion of taiga, the "wildest" person related to the grail and a Nahual, a supernatural being of Mesoamerican beliefs, with the ability to change from animal to human form.
In fate this angle is associated with…
With...
With...
Yeah, I won't pretend I know how to pronounce that.
Jaguar Man is a jaguar warrior serving that god.
Ignoring the fact that Jaguar Man is not a Man, and that Taiga's personality seems to be completely dominant, or that she's wearing animal pajamas, or that she is a yakuza, or that her expressions…
What the hell Fuji-nee!?
Jaguar Man is Tiger Dojo made Servant, and it is completely stupid and perfect.
Quite possibly the most famous central american god, Quetzalcoatl, the feathered serpent, is the main deity in the pre-hispanic pantheon,
for the Mayans he was a chief warrior that conquered Chichen Itza, and for the Aztecs, his serpent form represented the division between the heavens and earth.
Here she has a f#cking dinosaur.
See the f#cking dinosaur?
Yes? Good, now let's focus on why she's a girl.
Quetzalcoatl is a male deity, but due to being tied to Venus, a planet that is universally associated to femininity, his appearance changes.
Besides, due to the tendency of the gods of it's pantheon to intervene through human hosts not only it doesn't have to be summoned a s a pseudo-servant, but it wouldn't be ridiculous to assume that at some point, Quetz inhabited a female body.
That said, Quetzalcoatl is a total onee-san, she's kind towards her master, and has relaxed attitude without losing her sense of responsibility.
Despite the practices of her cult, she's against human sacrifices.
Also, her skills are affected and changed by her new passion, lucha libre.
I'm not even mad.
Her favorite wrestler is Mistico.
Did I already mention the f#cking dinosaur?
There was a time when Gilgamesh rejected the goddess Ishtar, due to the cruel way she treated her past lovers.
Furious by the offense, Ishtar forces her father to release Gugalanna, the Bull of Heaven, while Enkidu and Gilgamesh managed to defeat it, the gods decide one of them has to die for this act, and Enkidu perishes after 12 days.
Despairing, and with a broken heart, Gilgamesh becomes aware of his own mortality, and starts s journey to find immortality, while he fails, his travels changed him, the reckless hero is gone, and the Gilgamesh that returns to Uruk is a wise and fair king.
A king does not live for his nation, a nation exists for his king. The king aims for his own pleasure, but what pleases Gilgamesh is to rule over Uruk.
Unlike his Archer self, this Gilgamesh is not the egotistical King of Heroes, but Uruk's king after the end of his journey.
He'll still be prideful and aggressive, but he is a fair ruler, even willing to share part of his armory for the defense to Uruk.
Speaking of Gate of Babylon, it's not like Gil is a magus per se, most of his attacks rely on staffs and other magic relics that belong to his treasures.
His Noble Phantasm is Melammu Dingir, Uruk's defenses, the greatest and richest nation, united under the call of it's beloved king.
Excalibur might be the most famous sword, and the Round Table the most famous order of knights, but if we are talking about iconic figures, Merlin is synonymous with wizard, and nobody comes close to his fame.
Funnily enough, Merlin is easily the most unstable character in Arthurian myths, if you ask 3 different characters about his role, they'll give you different answers, in fact, according to some, Melrin was not a man, but a title.
In Fate Merlin is the son of a mortal and an incubus, essentially a sexual demon, which explains his tendency towards the supernatural.
On one end Merlin is the magical prodigy, who orchestrated the birth and reign of Arturia, the wise wizard that has the qualities to be Grand Caster.
And on the other he's an immature skirt chaser with a penchant for jokes.
Merlin is a person of stark contrasts, his mentality and emotions aren't quite human, but he's deeply interested in them.
One minute he'll give a wise speech about human nature, and the next he'll complain about biting his tongue while chanting spells.
His noble phantasm is Garden of Avalon, the beautiful garden where he's captive.
In fact, up to this day Merlin is still stuck on Avalon, and unlike Scathach, his realm didn't disappear when Solomon burned human history.
In other words, Merlin never died, and can't be summoned as a Servant, his appearances rely on his creativity to bend the rules, like in Babylon, because if he had yet to be born, and did not exist on earth… that's technically the same as being dead.
Solomon, son of King David and Bathsheba, the last king of Israel.
While he wasn't the intended heir, that title falling to his brother Adonijah, his brothers recklessness coupled with Solomon's prudence led David to choose him as the new king.
Known as the wise Solomon, his decision to choose wisdom to God instead of victory on the battlefield or riches led to the start of a prosperous and fair reign.
That said, Solomon fell into temptation, not only did he have over 700 wives and concubines, but they worshipped other gods, Solomon drifted apart from his faith, and as punishment God separated the tribes of Israel.
Another one Fate's Kings, Solomon, the King of Magic, the man who created the system that allowed man to access the mysteries of magic.
The ten rings he wears are proof of his wisdom, if the ten are together, all magic made by man is nullified.
One of the rings was kept separate by God's request, and this one was used by Olga Marie's father, Maris-Billy, to summon a Caster in the Fuyuki War, the first Servant summoned by Chaldea was Solomon.
The Solomon summoned as Caster does not resemble London's Great Caster, a good natured king, even a bit clumsy, his incantation rank is barely a C because he gets nervous when using magic.
"My contractor and sole friend, Caster. No, the King of Magic, Solomon, if it's your wish, then it'll be a noble one, wish for it boldly"
With these words, after his victory Maris-Billy invited Caster to wish for the Grail.
Solomon wished to be human, but not simply reincarnate as Solomon, but someone normal, free of the ties of the King of Magic.
This new being lived in Chaldea from that day onward, taking as name the Japanese word for romanticism.
Roman
Cleopatra, Egypt's last Pharaoh, she ascended to the throne along her sibling, but eventually got all the power, when she was exiled she took advantage of Julius Caesar to regain her power, becoming her lover, and mother of his son, Caesarion.
After Caesar's death, Cleopatra and her new lover, Mark Anthony, tried to claim power again, however the forces of Augustus were victorious, and Cleopatra's tale ended on suicide.
Fate's version doesn't change much, a tragic queen of incomparable beauty and intellect, however, her relationship with Caesar and Anthony were not political plays,
genuinely, without any hidden goals, Cleopatra loved those two men with all her heart.
A modern beauty decked in current fashions. Her reaction to Caesar's figure is… complicated.
That said, it's not like her Master has no chance, if you are someone loyal, someone Cleopatra wouldn't regret to die with, like those two men she once loved, you have a chance to woo her.
She fights like Michael Jackson, and her Noble Phantasm is Uraeus Astrape, the serpent of time that represents Egypt's fall.
Gorgon, name that derived from the greek word for "terrible" it was used to refer to the sisters, Stheno, Euryale and Medusa, the last of them being the most famous one, due to her role in Perseus' myth.
In some versions she was a woman of incomparable beauty, however she was raped by Poseidon in one Athena's temples, as a result the goddess cursed her with her monstrous appearance.
Which… is incredibly petty and cruel even by Greek standards.
Things weren't the same in Fate, but for longer explanations there's Hollow Ataraxia.
Gorgon is Rider on the brink of becoming a monster, something that normally wouldn't be summoned as a Servant.
Rider might be the Medusa that sees herself as a monster, but Gorgon is undoubtedly a risk for Chaldea, even if her master manages to build bonds with her, her mentality is too removed from that of humans, and he risks being devoured.
Her skills and parameters improved, but they are mostly the same as her Rider self.
Her Noble Phantasm is Pandemonium Cetus, basically, a more efficient version of BloodFort Andromeda,
without the need to prepare the area, all of the lives around are drained, and the Gorgon, the monster Perseus faces, is unleashed.
In Mesopotamian religion, Tiamat is the goddess of the sea, present in the myth of creation, being mother to the first generation of gods,
Apsu, her husband planned to eliminate his children, but they captured him first, and in retaliation Tiamat waged war against her sons with 11 monsters she created.
However, Anu, or Marduk, depending on the version, defeated Tiamat, and from her corpse the sky and earth are made, the Tigris and Euphrates, the Milky Way itself, paving the way for the age of gods and men.
In Fate, Tiamat loved her children more than her husband, and didn't face them after Apsu's death, her children were the ones to strike first,
the primordial mother wasn't needed in the new world, a stable ecosystem didn't need someone who spontaneously generated life.
The collapse of human history allowed her return in the Babylon order, under the Beast class, Beast II, one of the seven human vices, monsters mankind is destined to defeat.
Tiamat simply follows her instincts, eradicate the mankind that expulsed her, and repopulate with her children.
Upon being summoned she'll take control of the Indian Ocean, spawning beasts non-stop, but at the same time, she can't arrive to the shore.
Even if hypothetically she were to be summoned as a Servant, nothing would change, her Master would simply be one of the seven billion left to eliminate.
Tiamat might be a repulsive beast for our standards, but for her, humans are also terrifying aliens.
The Ars Goetia is the first part of a Grimoire written on the 17th Century, the Lemegeton, or simply, The Lesser Key of Solomon.
The Ars Goetia describes 72 demons, supposedly confined and controlled by King Solomon, while the book is posterior to the classic Solomon stories,
it's not the first or only source to tie Solomon with this kind of spirits, and the idea of the kings relationship with demons quickly spread.
Goetia, Beast I, one of Solomon's spells, the 72 Demon Pillar resided on his body, but the 72 did not understand Solomon, the king was nothing but an automaton, someone who followed God's and the people's will with none of his own.
While his people loved him, the pillars saw it differently, Solomon was cruel, someone that could see how pointless human life was, and yet he would do nothing about it.
Goetia is the sum of the 72 Demon Pillars, which took control of Solomon's corpse, causing the game's events,
burn human history, use the energy from all of mankind's history to return to the birth of the planet and create a new species, a world where nobody dies, a mankind free of goodbye.
Goetia is the Solomon we see in most of the game, but his skills are not the same as the real one, he keeps his Clairvoyance, but can't hear God's voice, nor can he use his first Noble Phantasm.
Ars Nova, Solomon's Noble Phantasm, the act of returning all of the gifts received to God, a Noble Phantasm that erases Solomon from the Throne of Heroes.
Goetia, the king of demons, Beast I, representing pity, in a way, Goetia did everything for humans, the 72 pillars that never understood mankind is beautiful because it's not eternal,
that the end is something natural that drives us to live.
That humanity without death is not a utopia.
That was the curtain that led us to Grand Order's final boss, the King of Humans, Goetia.
Death was given equally to everybody, a life without death might be free of pain, but true smiles are those that overcome sorrow,
humans live to live, not knowing their objective in life, and meaning can only be given at the end.
Chaldea is the Mesopotamian word for astronomers, that's Chaldea's real purpose, an observatory, that watches the stars that shined on human history,
the heroic spirits and regular humans that lived hundreds of years ago, and that up to this day, still shine on us.
In memory of Barbatos-kun.
