hi everyone I am Tootie of Tootie's corner and welcome to my channel in today's video I
am talking about some things that have been in the news so let's get right into
it the first thing I want to talk to you about is the farmers in America are
killing themselves in staggering numbers I didn't know that farmers had the
highest rate of committing suicide this article I found on CBS news.com
I will share the link with you in the information box if you want to read the
article you can go check it out but this caught my attention because nobody's
talking about it let me share some of the key points in this article with you
think about trying to live today on the income you had 15 years ago
that's how agriculture expert Charles Hurt describes the plight facing the United
States farmers today and I'm scrolling a little bit down looking at my phone here
scrolling further down the suicide rate in the field of farming fishing and
forestry is eighty four point three per 100,000 people more than five times that
of the population as a whole that's even as the nation overall has seen an
increase in suicide rates over the last thirty years and I'm scrolling on down a
little bit more the farm crisis was so bad there was a terrible outbreak of
suicide and depression and this was like in the 1980s I believe said Jennifer
Fahy communications director with Farm Aid a group founded in 1983 that
advocates for farmers today she said I think it's actually worse we're hearing
from farmers on our hotline that farmers stress is extremely high every time
there's more uncertainty around issues around the farm economy there's another
day of phones ringing off the hook finances are a major reason since 2013
farm income has been dropping steadily according to the United States
Department of Agriculture this year the average farm income is projected to be
35 percent below its 2013 level Wow so I just wanted to share that with you
because I didn't know and I love my farmers because you know they get us our
food to our markets and our food at our farmers markets I just didn't know that
this was going on with our farmers so y'all pray for our farmers you know pray
for them that things change for them the second item on my list to talk about is
about sarah huckabee Sanders and I'm sure most of you have probably heard
about Sarah Huckabee Sanders who is the press secretary to President Trump she
was asked to leave the Red Hen and it's a restaurant in Virginia she was asked
to leave so she politely left but here's the kicker Maxine Waters she was
speaking to a group and she told this group to harass anybody who works for
Trump anybody that's in its administration harass those people if
you see them in a restaurant or if you see them in the store if you see them
getting gasoline harass them well that was a bad move miss Maxine because
people are actually doing what she recommended and I'm afraid this is going
to get out of hand and somebody's gonna get hurt she needs to be called on the
carpet and she needs to be held accountable for what she has said it's
been in the news people have been talking about it and things have been
happening people have literally started doing what Maxine Waters has recommended
and told them to do there do they're doing it and I'm afraid it's gonna get
out of hand so y'all pray that nobody gets hurt and
that Maxine apologizes for what she said but I doubt she will apologize
she hasn't already I don't know anyway she needs to apologize you guys pray for
this situation that people don't get hurt
the next thing that I have is a phrase that some of us use here in the South
and we don't think anything of it it's called you're out of your cotton-picking
mind well a person who is a appears on fox news sometimes on the panel that
they have his name is Bossie and Bossie works for Trump in some way I can't
remember exactly I'm going on for what I read and I don't have the article right
here before me but he was on Fox News and he was also debating I guess another
person who happened to be black a black man and so while they were having their
discussion Bossie makes the comment you're out of your cotton-picking mind
and so the black man took offense to that and he complained to Fox News and
Fox News suspended this man because he said you're out of your cotton-picking
mind the black man was offended because he said he had ancestors who picked
cotton okay I am from the south and some people do use this phrase you're out of
your cotton-picking mind now I'm a little bit younger than some of the
people that I hear saying it they are older than I am probably in their early
50s in their 60s they use that phrase younger people don't use that phrase we
just say you got to be out of your mind you got to be kidding me you are you
crazy what are you thinking so that's what the phrase cotton-picking mind
means I've never thought of it to be offensive in any way I never think of
anybody picking cotton when I hear that phrase I just think of people being
crazy out of their mind what how are you thinking what are you thinking and so
that's something that's been in the news too the other thing that I have is about
this teenager who was shot by a cop and his name was Antwon
Rose Antwon Rose was a 17 year old honor student who was it the wrong place at
the wrong time because he was in a vehicle with some people who were doing
some bad things and he shouldn't even be in with them but when they got pulled
over Antwon decided that he was going to run
instead of comply he ran this happened by the way in East Pittsburgh I believe
he decided that he was going to run instead of comply with what the officers
were telling him to do so as he ran the cop decided that hey I'm going to shoot
him instead of running after him he shot so the officer has been charged
with criminal homicide and the teenager was unarmed so in my question my little
mind I'm thinking Antwon why did you run you know and cop
why did you shoot my first mind is like cops should be running you know why
would you think to shoot somebody but he's been charged with criminal homicide
so we'll see how that plays out and the last thing I want to say is that if you
are a conservative specifically a black conservative if you haven't heard there
was a summit and Meetup that was held in Phoenix Arizona and it
was sponsored by turning-point USA and the people who got it together with
Charlie Kirk and Candace Owens and Brandon Tatum if you don't know those
people look them up on YouTube and you can see who they are well what they did
is they got a I don't know how many people that got together but it was the
black influencers mainly here on YouTube that got together and they are
conservatives and so from what I have seen the head of
very good time it was a lot of positivity and it just was it just
seem like it was really good thing for them to do and I hope that whatever they
have planned goes right on and they get the job done and so I just want you guys
to know that there are some people that were there that I follow like Kevin's
corner he's one of the first people that I started following here on YouTube who
else was there Kevin's corner and we have James T
Harris he's an older man but he's been in the conservative game for quite some
time and then we have Anthony Brian Logan was there amazing the amazing
Lukas Candice was there and Terrance Williams the little comedian guy who
loves his fried chicken and it was a lot of other people Hotep Jesus it's so
many that was there Leo Dunson so you guys check out Kevin's corner he has a
lot of the interviews from some of those some of the people that are here on
youtube if you're interested in that I just wanted to throw that out there
because it was such a positive message that they are trying to get across and
if you are a conservative it doesn't matter you black or white or whatever
keep your eyes open all right keep your eyes on those people and what they are
doing and working on that's all I have for you today I really didn't have
anything planned I had some news items that I want to share and I didn't want
to make separate videos for each video for each news story and I just wanted to
come and talk about it a little bit so of the news stories you can share your
opinion or give me your feedback and your take on some of the things that
I've shared with you so we can chop it up in the comment section okay thank you
so much for watching and I'll see you in the next video bye-bye
