Hey, we're Bram and Glenn and during three months we're travelling across Asia.

We're recording everything on camera and social media.

We're making the most of this trip and going on some bizarre adventures.

This is Backpackers.

We're leaving a beautiful village behind. We woke up in a valley.

And now we're flying to Medan to see the orangutans in the jungle.

We'll meet them in the flesh and in the wild. I'm already loving it.

Normally has me to act like a monkey but now he'll see a different monkey.

Where are we going, buddy? -To the airport

from where we'll fly to Medan.

We're in Medan... -We've arrived.

You too? Just kidding.

Okay, a private party.

We've arrived in Bujkit Lawang at the foot of a beautiful jungle.

A jungle with wild orangutans

and we can't wait to see them. So we're about to book a tour.

We're off to the Bat Cave and that's our plan for today.

On the way to the cave, we're seeing mokeys.

Tomorrow we'll see wild orangutans in the jungle and it's starting to sink in.

I can't wait. -It's awesome, isn't it?

Seeing a monkey in the wild is really wicked

but a orangutan that's twice our size is even more wicked.

Are you jumping on my back or not? -No, I'm going to do the conga.

I'm actually afraid of bats.

Are we going to conquer the dark cave? -We've been in a cave before.

Then I said it'd be cool to be in a cave all alone,

we are doing that now, it's actually a little exciting.

It's fucking nice but you have to mind all the bat's poo.

I'm scared shitless. You can hear a hiss as if there's a snake somewhere.

It's as if someone has left the gas on. -It's dark.

It's scary. -And without a tour guide.

You go first. -No, I'm afraid.

They're flying over there. -I should act like a man but I can't.

This is the scariest thing we've ever done.

You can do what you like but I'm not going in there.

Even I think it's exciting. -No way that we're going in there.

I'm going to have a look. -Yes, you go first.

I'm not. -There are bats flying out of it.

I'm not going through there. -Perhaps Do should try.

Through that hole? -There is another hole over here.

I fit through it but I don't think it's a great idea.

Man oh man, bloody retards.

Here goes our acrobat. It looks like a birth canal.

We've pushed back a lot of frontiers but... -This is exciting.

Now we're going into a cave again. -A new cave.

I feel like a fucking explorer.

Nice one, dude. -This is really wicked, man.

The three of us in a cave. There is nobody else.

You hope. -We hope.

Let's explore this shit. -A real bat is flying round.

Not just one, it's a bat cave, idiot. -Look at it.

Loads of them, this is so nasty. -I wouldn't say that I'm afraid

but it's fucking exciting. The bats are flying low and all over the place.

That's why I'm crouched down. -I'm scared shitless of those machines.

Dude I can see bats over there... Oh, my God.

They're not bats, they're flying foxes. Oh, my God. There are hundreds of them.

They're half a meter across.

I've never seen such a large bat. -Neither have I.

I'm too afraid to look up. I'm really scared to death.

Where am I? I'm frightened, I want to go back.

We're up shit creek because we don't know which way to go.

Where do we go? -There.

Really? -Here.

Which way? -I'll be adventurous.

Go for it, Bram. -Did we seriously come through here?

Yes. -We honestly don't know which way to go.

I still think it's that way. -No, that hole is a dead-end.

Or we go this... -God damn it, it's almost getting dark.

Down here? I'll check it out. -That was my worst nightmare ever.

We didn't know which way to go but I think we're on the right track.

It was pretty scary. -Yes, fucking scary.

I could just imagine myself spending the night in that cave.

Another huge bat flew passed me. Wow, dude.

We're out before night falls.

Holy tits, this was the most exciting thing we've done on this entire trip.

And you start mindfucking yourself. -It's a complete mindfuck.

It was a taste of what's in store for us in the jungle.

The big day has arrived. We're going into the jungle.

And before long we'll see orangutans in the wild.

Okay, there is a snake up a tree.

I like to pretend being Steve Irwin but I'll take a rain check today.

There is supposed to be a large, male orangutan in the vicinity.

I can see him. I see one.

Wow, that's so cool, it's up high. It's wonderful to see a monkey move.

It's fucking awesome. -How awesome is it?

Super awesome. I've never seen such a large monkey in my life.

He's over there. There. This is just wicked.

It was awesome seeing those orangutans. What a great experience.

This is really wow. I'll never experience anything as awesome as this again.

Bram, he's grabbing it.

I think it's an aggressive orangutan.

It's coming this way and we need to get out of here.

There is one aggressive orangutan.

And there it is.

We're giving it fruit to calm it down but it's coming this way.

Oh, yes. Crap.

I think we're safe again. -Look where the girls are.

At a safe distance, 'morning. We've survived the other monkey.

Mina. Mina was close on our heels. -But we managed to get rid of her.

He's biting me. -Is he nibbling your fingers?

It's weird, isn't it? -It's like a human hand.

This is so special.

What an awesome experience. The monkey just grabs your hand

and you have to hope he doesn't put your fingers in its mouth.

This is the only monkey you can do this with, it's a semi-wild monkey.

It lives in the wild but it's used to people.

It's the only one you're allowed to feed. -It's amazing.

And we were lucky enough to run into it.

I think we've nearly reached where we'll sleep.

We've hiked for 5 or 6 hours. Great, I can't wait to see it.

That was quite a trip. -Heavy?

You bet and I fell over a few times. -Too bad I don't have it on camera.

What a shame. And Bram just slipped through everything.

He fancies himself as the real Mowgli. -It's time for a refreshing dive or not?

Here we are in the middle of the jungle having a cup of coffee. It's a hard life.

Look, he's brushing his teeth.

What are we going to do? -It's great fun here.

We're sitting here in the rain. You can hear thunder in the background.

We've just smoked a joint.

And now we're going to eat. -There are worse things in life.

We're spooning each other in a tent that's one by one.

It was another fantastic day, ladies and gentlemen.

Good night, sweet people. -See you tomorrow.

It sounded more romantic than it was because you sleep on the ground.

I didn't sleep at all. -But when you wake up

this view makes up for it all.

Did you sleep well? -I've had better nights.

But waking up here makes up for it. -This is total bliss.

Very nice. -A breakfast for a champion.

As usual we're off to a waterfall.

We like to adapt to the local culture and people in the jungle look like this.

And so do we now.

They're going to body paint us as well.

This is going to be next year's trend at all the festivals in Amsterdam.
