RoboParty took place between 2nd and 4th March
in the sports hall of the Campus of Azurém in Guimarães.
This is the 11th edition of the initiative.
It is the 4th version of the robot
it is now based on Arduino, one of the most used platforms in the world.
It uses the programming language "Arduino IDE" and now "Open Roberta", this year's novelty,
a graphical environment easier for young people to program.
We offer teacher training. Teachers also have merit for being here
and we decided to reward them with certified training.
Novelties aside, "fun" was the only motto.
The sports and other activities also vary every year.
This year we have archery, table tennis, badminton, jump.
We also had music groups last night, the "Tuna Afonsina" and "Tun'Obebes".
The whole environment is very fun for young participants.
RoboParty brings together 500 students from all over the country,
that learn to program and build a robot with a kit.
We spend a lot of time soldering
and we are perfecting our soldering techniques, for instance.
As well as other things.
What have you done since you arrived here?
Programming, soldering
testing and calibrating sensors
that is basically it.
Motivation, fun and willingness to learn
were the key words in the three days of the robot party.
It is a good way to learn how to program, to handle the Arduino
and to enter the world of robotics. It is the best.
There is a team from Brazil here and they are flabbergasted with the event.
They are asking if it is possible to replicate this in Brazil.
In 2014 we already hosted a mini-RoboParty with 25 teams
We also hosted one last year in Leipzig, Germany with 50 teams.
We are certainly available to go to other countries.
RoboParty, a three-day event for all ages that is a true robot workshop.
11 years of an initiative that already totals almost 5,000 participants.
