Waching daily Mar 30 2017

We've gone through pine forests

We've seen waterfalls

We've just climbed to Tamadaba

through a trail which pretty much was the ravine's throat

where the water was falling as you climbed.

It's simply amazing

We've offered this new challenge, the 360º

with 265 kilometers and 17,000 meters positive gain

surrounds the whole island of Gran Canaria... but we still have more places to discover.

It has been a great show for the runners and for everyone who has followed the challenge.

My name is Juan Antonio Carreño Clemente, also known as "Chico".

I've practised trail running for almost seven years...

And here I am! Trying to accomplish my dream in Transgrancanaria 360º,

which is the common goal of the 100 runners who are here today facing the 265 kilometers.

It's the first time for everyone in the 360º.

It is the first edition of this new challenge, and my first experience in such a long distance.

I think this is another way of facing trail running...

It's pretty much an adventure, a survival challenge... you have to think of it differently.

The 360º is a brand new race.

We always thought of it as a great challenge, which is what we seek for: offer new and different things.

We tried to design a course which rotates the whole island.

It is difficult as Gran Canaria is like an orange squeezer

disected by ravines, so surrounding the island is really tough.

This is why the challenge is so hard: the runners have to go from one ravine to the next one.

The course is never marked

We had to follow the track using our GPS devices trying to find the correct trail.

Sometimes, the trails were recognizable and it was easy to navigate...

but others hadn't been used for years and they were just retaken for this challenge.

It's going great. I am a weird guy as I enjoy loneliness and night time.

I got lost for more time than I expected...

but that is just part of the magic of this challenge.

It helps a lot, as when you are alone

you feel a bit exasperated.

When you find someone, you can also slow down your pace

which is quite important in sections like this one with more than 3.400 meters positive climbing

in 50 kilometers.

And it is really very, very helpful.

Let's see how the day ends, but we continue

with the challenge and with the goal of finishing in less than three days.

Excellent! We've taken some food and drinks.

The guys here have been fantastic as they have been in every basecamp.

We are feeling great, we leave now full of energy.

See you along the way!

During the race you think: what the hell are you doing here?

Is this really worthy in your life?

You don't have to demonstrate anything to anyone. You are just doing what you like to do!

Other people's hobbies are painting, singing...

or simply going out with friends for dinner and some drinks.

We are doing this because it is our passion!

The people will say we are crazy and freaks... why are you doing this?

Believe it, it is just because we love it.

It is one of the best things that has ever happened to us. No doubt!
