IT'S HAPPENING SCIENTISTS CAN NOW REVERSE DNA AGEING IN MICE - tech and science - Duration: 5:04.

ITS HAPPENING: SCIENTISTS CAN NOW REVERSE DNA AGEING IN MICE

Researchers have identified a cellular mechanism that allows them to reverse ageing in mouse

DNA and protect it from future damage.

Theyve shown that by giving a particular compound to older mice, they can activate

the DNA repair process and not only protect against future damage, but repair the existing

effects of ageing. And theyre ready to start testing in humans within six months.

The cells of the old mice were indistinguishable from the young mice, after just one week of

treatment, said lead researcher David Sinclair from the University of New South Wales (UNSW)

in Australia and the Harvard Medical School in Boston.

This is the closest we are to a safe and effective anti-ageing drug thats perhaps

only three to five years away from being on the market if the trials go well.

Sinclair and his team made headlines back in 2013 when they found that the cells of

younger mice contained more of a compound called nicotinaminde adenine dinucleotide,

or NAD+, than their older counterparts.

Not only that, but when they gave the older mice more NAD+, they started to look younger,

too.

It was a big deal at the time, but one of the tricky things about medicine is that in

order to show that something could work as a potential treatment, you need to first understand

how its acting in the body.

And although the researchers knew NAD+ was having an impressive effect, they couldnt

say for sure how it was doing it.

Now, Sinclair and his team have released a new study, where they outline in detail the

mechanism through which NAD+ protects DNA from the damage of ageing and radiation in

mice.

So how does it work? When were born, all of our cells have the ability to repair DNA

damage, which we experience constantly through random mutations when our cells divide, or

whenever we go out in the sun.

But as we get older, our ability to patch up this damage declines, and our cells being

to age.

What the researchers have now shown in this latest study is that a lot of this damage

comes down to a DNA-repair compound called PARP1.

When theres a lot of NAD+ in a cell, PARP1 does its job and keeps our DNA healthy. But

when NAD+ drops naturally with age, PARP1 starts to decline, and damage builds up.

To see whether they could take advantage of this cellular mechanism, Sinclair and his

team developed a drug that contains the precursor to NAD+, known as NMN, or nicotinamide mononucleotide.

In mice, boosting older mice with NMN was enough to kick DNA repair into action and

even reverse existing DNA damage.

They now plan to trial a similar drug in humans before the end of the year and not just

for anti-ageing purposes, but also to protect against DNA damage of any kind.

In fact, the team is collaborating with NASA to see if NMN could help protect its astronauts

against harsh space radiation on their four-year journey to Mars, during which its predicted

that 5 percent of the astronauts cells would die, and their chances of cancer would

approach 100 percent.

The drug could also be useful for groups that are particularly vulnerable to the effects

of radiation, such as frequent fliers and those who undergo frequent CT scans or X-rays.

The idea is to protect the body from radiation exposure here on earth, either naturally occurring

or doctor-inflicted, Sinclair told Time.

If I were going to have an X-ray or a CT scan, I would take NMN beforehand.

Survivors of childhood cancer could also benefit right now, 96 percent go on to suffer

a chronic illness by age 45, including cardiovascular disease, Alzheimers, or cancers unrelated

to their original cancer.

All of this adds up to the fact they have accelerated ageing, which is devastating,

said one of the researchers, Lindsay Wu. It would be great to do something about that,

and we believe we can with this molecule.

Before we get too excited, we need to keep in mind that many, many studiesin mice are

not replicated in humans.

So until the results of these early clinical trials in people begin to trickle in, theres

no promise that NMN will help protect human DNA.

But understanding this mechanism of DNA ageing is a big step towards better understanding

how to keep our cells healthier for longer, and thats pretty exciting.

Good news monetization has been approved on YouTube March 31 2017 - Duration: 7:04.

good morning YouTube Theresa live here

from Savannah and I have good news i'm

going to show you this two of my videos

are approved for monetization do you see

that right there okay hang on I got it

and I want you guys to follow me to

follow me and ring my bell to be

notified to follow me and stay up to

date with everything that I do okay so

now this is one of the videos let's see

here it's called the right to choose

women's rights minimum living wage so we

started off with talking about women's

rights so then it would kind of segue

into the minimum living wage and that's

just how that's just how we talk and so

the this down here I'll show you some of

the transcript here and so I think this

is probably my husband talking he says

whether she has the baby or not but then

they put in policies that say okay they

want to shrink government so when they

shrink the government they don't want to

pay for anything to help raise the kids

and then they wanted oh and this is how

we got into minimum wage this is the

segue part right here and then they want

to take away minimum wage and so if

you're working trying to take care of

your family and you can't afford to take

care of your family and so then they're

creating the circumstances for poverty

in this country that's that's just how

it's being done and so he's been

watching this for years actually he's

taught me a lot about politics because I

didn't understand it that the economy i

found it boring actually as I age I find

it more interesting i have no idea why

but I do here's the other video right

here okay so we're talking about illegal

immigration and reform and I had the

camera set on spud and this is sort of

the process of oh I would say feeling

more comfortable

being in front of the camera because

well yeah I'll go into that another time

that was for more for him and so anyway

let's see here well let's go down here

and it says if you don't stop the cause

this is my husband talking then you are

not going to do it you're not you know

you're not going to stop people from

coming in he says that's like trying to

close the door after the horse gets in

but right now and I say why don't they

fine the companies that are hiring the

undocumented workers and he says because

the companies are saying that they don't

have a good way to tell if they are

undocumented or not and he said he

thinks it's a bunch of shit which is

probably true and then but the thing is

that the temp agencies the day laborer

trucks and they have here in the South

they hire people they'll do the same

thing and so he's suggesting that they

can they can all do the same thing too

and be held accountable and so you know

they're there are two issues right there

that are hot topics in our country right

now the right to choose and I just think

just the fact that the right to choose

is I don't know why they attach it to

abortion because of the fact to me I'll

like all I see with that is it's

oppressing women and taking away rights

from women so you don't even have to

agree with abortion there's a higher

message here that it is taking rights

away from women so I mean today it could

be abortion tomorrow it could be

something else and so you know that they

decide that they want women you know oh

let's say they decide to take away

makeup or something or what what else or

they tell you how you have to wear

certain clothing that's women's rights

you know men or someone else telling a

woman what to do so the right to choose

is more about women's rights it's

not about the actual subject itself it's

more of of telling women what to do and

so women should be able to do whatever

we want to do that's what what the whole

thing boils down to and then yeah and

then even like with illegal immigration

that does need taken care of it but the

thing is is they don't want to take care

of it they pretend on the outside that

they want to take care of it but they

really don't so well you will be talking

more about these topics but I just

wanted to let you guys know about the

good news here that these videos have

been approved that's great I think

that's great news because we want to be

able to talk about these tough subjects

and feel comfortable talking about

things like this I think it's important

because the the thing that I've noticed

is the dialogue has been lost a lot you

know with people amongst ourselves it's

like you know the thing that I feel is

if we start talking about things like

this then it's more like people take

sides there's nothing wrong with taking

a side but I think there is something

wrong with feeling like oh well we don't

want to talk about that because well

we'll just let them hash it out well if

you have that thought of will let

someone else hash it out then they

decide your rights for you and having us

as women been letting men and you

know men because they've been primarily

running this country haven't we been

letting them decide for us long enough

it's time to change and and so yeah

that's what I've been seeing but that's

been my maturing process you know as I

age I'm mature we all do you know so

it's like my mental thinking in seeing

through the matrix of how all this works

why wouldn't we get mad that's the thing

I think is yes we are going to get mad

and we should get me at once we

understand what they've been doing you

know the laws that they've been creating

designed to take away our rights to

choose as women and our rights to choose

has people in general in and so yeah so

I think that's about it for right now

but I want to thank you guys for

watching please follow me on youtube

ring my bell and thank you and I'll see

you guys soon I love you thank you for

watching let's have a discussion at

peace love and avocados

China's President To Meet Trump Next Week Putin Ready For Meeting In Finland - Duration: 4:05.

China's President To Meet Trump Next Week Putin Ready For Meeting In Finland

by Tyler Durden

Confirming recurring rumors from the past month, overnight both China's Foreign Ministry

and the White House confirmed that China's president Xi Jinping will meet with President

Trump at Mar-a-Lago in Florida on April 6-7.

It will be Xi's first meeting with Trump, a little over a month after Trump used the

same venue to meet with Japan's PM Abe, and comes at a time when the two sides face pressing

issues, ranging from North Korea and the South China Sea to trade disputes.

Foreign Ministry spokesman Lu Kang, who made the announcement at a daily news briefing

on Thursday, did not give any more details of the meeting agenda, but spoke of the need

to see the big picture while fostering mutual interests in trade relations.

"The market dictates that interests between our two countries are structured so that you

will always have me and I will always have you," Lu said.

"Both sides should work together to make the cake of mutual interest bigger and not simply

seek fairer distribution," he said in response to a question about trade frictions.

Beijing had previously said that preparatory work for the meeting was underway.

But it had not yet confirmed the trip, despite western media reports on a scheduled meeting

and an announcement by the Finnish government that Xi would make a brief stop in Finland

on April 5.

The summit follows a series of other recent U.S.-China meetings and conversations aimed

at mending ties after strong criticism of China by Trump during his election campaign.

Rex Tillerson ended a trip to Asia this month in Beijing, agreeing to work together with

China on North Korea and stressing Trump's desire to enhance understanding.

Among the most pressing recent issues, China has been irritated at being repeatedly told

by Washington to rein in North Korea's nuclear and missile programs and by the U.S. decision

to base an advanced missile defense system in South Korea.

Beijing also remains suspicious of U.S. intentions towards self-ruled Taiwan, which China claims

as its own.

Of course, trade will be a dominant topic: Trump has repeatedly accused China of unfair

trade policies, criticized its island-building in the strategic South China Sea, and accused

it of doing too little to constrain North Korea, although with the "Goldman" block silencing

Peter Navarro in recent months, Trump has significantly moderated his tone.

* * * Meanwhile, setting the stage for a just as

critical summit, Russian President Vladimir Putin said on Thursday that he was ready to

meet U.S. president Donald Trump at an Arctic summit in Finland.

According to Reuters, the Russian president made this remark responding to his Finnish

counterpart, who said he would be happy to receive Russian and U.S. presidents in Finland.

I believe Finland suits this purpose well, and Helsinki is a very convenient platform

to organize an event like this, Putin said, when asked if he thought a meeting between

him and Trump was possible in Finland.

However, he added that the event should be well prepared by both sides.

If this happens, we and I personally would be glad to take part in such an

event.

If not, the meeting [with Trump] could take place in the framework of the G20 summit [set

to take place in July], Putin concluded.

Finnish President Sauli Niinisto said earlier that his country would certainly be very

happy to have the opportunity to hold such a summit.

The summit is set to take place at Finlandia Hall in Helsinki on September 18-20, 2017,

according to the events official website.
