BMW X4

Moose test

On our first attempt on the Moose test with the BMW X4, we noticed something that had also happened when we tested the X3. If the swerves are performed abruptly,

the ESC comes into action on an abrupt way too.

This can confuse the driver when it first happens, like in this case, because during some time he/she does not have the capacity to guide the car precisely as wanted.

Because of this, we did not pass the test on this first attempt

Once we knew this behaviour, we performed the test acting more smoothly over the steering wheel and we managed to succeed at an entrance speed of 77 km/h.

The intervention of the ESC still is significant, and we think it creates and understeer effect,

but the X4 reacts on a more natural and progressive way and it is easier to guide through the cones.

The higher the entrance speed was, the greater became the oversteer effect.

Having said that, the car never reacts abruptly neither the suspension bounces on such a way that affects the safety and control of the driver over the car.

As we have already said, the key to passing the Moose test at a high speed with this car is to perform smooth and fast

movements on the steering wheel to diminish the actuation of the ESC.

Our test car had an adaptive suspension. On this manoeuvre we did not notice differences between its settings,

more than on Sport mode the steering becomes heavier and it is harder to move the steering wheel quickly.

Slalom

The body roll of the car on the slalom is small when using any of the adaptive suspension modes.

In fact, as it happened on the Moose test, we did not notice any difference except from the greater weight of the steering on Sport mode.

Because of that, we found it easier to perform the slalom on Confort mode than in Sport mode.

The X4 feels nimble when driven through the cones if it is not driven too hard.

Otherwise, when we reached the point in which the ESC came into action, it braked abruptly one of the front wheels and the X4 tended to go straight and out of the turn.

6 books about Zombies, my birthday and a convention (ESP audio | ENG/ESP subs) - Duration: 12:17.

What do you call a very fast zombie?

A zoooooombie!

I'm so lucky you can't slap me through the monitor.

Hi people!

Today is...

My birthday! You'll see this video on a Wednesday-Thursday, but my birthday

was on Tuesday 28. Before starting with the books, I'll show you the presents.

You might like a few. Okay, let's begin... They gave me

a small plate (pocket-emptier, it's called) of Hufflepuff, my favorite

house in Harry Potter. I was also given brush earrings; those of you who've

watched this channel for a while know I'm crazy about brush-jewellery, so

as soon as I wear something red I'll use them. I also got this illustrated book

by Benjamin Lacombe, Madama Butterfly. Finally I'll

know the story of Madama Butterfly, because it's still a mystery to me.

And this was my boyfriend's present, this collector's edition

of Skyrim. "The library of Skyrim: History,

Man, Mer and Beast; and The Arcane." You can open this box like this,

and inside are the books. Can you see them peeking out? I won't take them out

because I'd make a mess right now. I'll read them to know Skyrim's lore better,

since I play the game (with a lot of mods) and I'm enjoying it a lot.

I play a very pretty dunmer. And look at these slippers!

They're Hogwarts owls, but as stuffed slippers! I love them,

look at their cute little wings. And along with this tiara, those were

my birthday presents. Well, my mother gave me a bikini, but that

I won't show you because it's a bit porn-y. Birthdays aside (jeez, one year less

to my death), today we came to talk about zombies,

a genre I really like and want to share with you.

So let's make a quick list of my recommended zombie books. We'll start

with ZOMBIE ISLAND by David Wellington. This is the first part

of a trilogy (I don't know if there are more installments): ZOMBIE ISLAND, then

comes ZOMBIE NATION, and then ZOMBIE PLANET.

Though in internet, I don't know why, they're also referred to as MONSTER ISLAND,

MONSTER NATION, and MONSTER PLANET. It's about a guy from the UN,

if I recall correctly... Yes, a former United Nations' Inspector of Armament who travels

with a group of soldier schoolgirls, trying to survive, while they search for

a "medicine they need desperately," and there's also a guy,

a Medicine student who's trying to turn himself into a conscious zombie

and adapt to his new nature. Next: the trilogy of APOCALYPSE Z

by Manel Loureiro, aka "Zombies in Galicia." This one here is the second book;

I read the first one on kindle, and I liked it so much that I decided to

buy the next two on paperback. This is a very cool trilogy (also in English!)

In fact, these novels were pioneer in bringing Zombie literature back

to the surface here in Spain. The first book is written

as a diary on computers and notebooks, telling the story of a Galician man

who witness the unraveling of the Zombie Apocalypse and tries to get out. The second book

takes place in the Canary Islands, and the third one, if I remember correctly,

happens in America. Things escalate, the stakes get higher, and,

as the trilogy moves forward, it gets way cooler.

Then we have this: THE WANDERERS by Carlos Sisí. While Manel Loureiro's

series started in Galicia, Sisi's apocalypse takes place in Málaga (South of Spain).

More or less the same: Zombie Apocalypse,

a bunch of survivors struggling in Málaga while trying to find the cause of the virus,

forming alliances with doctors and militars... It starts in Málaga, and,

in the third book, they move to the Alhambra palace of Granada; and then

the story goes on and the survivors end up in Barcelona. It's really cool. I love

the way Carlos Sisí writes, because he's hard and scary, but also

a bit of a cinnamon roll, and he focuses on the human side of things. Then we have...

This one is a bit stranger, not exactly your "pop culture" zombies who chase after

you and want to eat your sweet, sweet brain. This book is HANDLING THE UNDEAD

by John Ajvide Lindqvist.

He's the author of LET THE RIGHT ONE IN, that novel about vampires and kids

which I love too and totally recommend. In fact, I made a video only for that book last Halloween.

HANDLING THE UNDEAD starts with "strange things happening in Stockholm"

"Suddenly, the news shock the nation: At the morgue, the dead are coming

back to life. What do they want?

Logically, to return home..." It tells the story of a bunch of people who see

how the loved ones they'd buried come back home.

And they're not really sentient;

they're just "there", doing what they used to do, but not entirely... aware.

It's really creepy, because they're still rotting and their living relatives had already

moved on and dealt with their loss, and this... This is like a bucket of cold water to the face,

you know? Having the dead back at home. Then, our next (Spanish) book is

WHEN SUSANAH CRIES by J. J. Castillo. I guess JJ stands for Juan José or Juan Jesús...

or Jack Jack.

You can see this cool cover art, with that sickly yellow-green hue

of garbage cans and pus they always put on everything zombie-related, that piss-green filter.

WHEN SUSANAH CRIES tells the story of a fortified town named Rotten,

whose inhabitants face the siege of the undead.

It weaves the stories of the locals together

while they try to survive the zombies and things turn into, as I usually say,

a bloody mess. But these people have a little baby girl with a special gift: when she

zombies are near or she feels their presence, the baby starts crying.

So, when Susanah cries, everybody shits their pants in fear.

The last book on the list is the weirdest, punkiest of them all. I can't show you the

paperback edition because I read it on kindle, but you can buy it on LEKTU, for example.

The (Spanish) book is PETA Z: DON'T MIX WITH COLA DRINK.

It's an anthology of short stories that mix our dear animated series of the 80s

(like Mazinger Z, Dungeons and Dragons, Heidi and Marco)

with zombies. So we have stories about Heidi and zombies,

Marco and zombies, the Care Bears and zombies...

In the prologue, the writers tell you that one night 11 of them gathered in a bar,

got drunk and started writing down ideas on a paper napkin, and it snowballed into

an anthology that mixed the shows of their childhood

with zombies. My favorite tales in here

are the ones with the Care Bears, Marco, and Dungeons and Dragons. The one with Mazinger Z

and its "Breasts out!" shout was funny too. Anyway, if you don't want dramatic readings

but still crave for the gory shenanigans of the zombie genre,

read PETA Z, the anthology of zombie stories.

I've read more of these novels because I love the genre, but I preferred not to

include them in this video, because they weren't as good (to me), or were too slow

in some parts... Besides, with these... six books, I think

we have a pretty decent list for those of you

interested in the brain-eater genre. And well, if you enjoy reading about zombies,

you'll probably like Z movies too.

I can't recommend many movies, since you probably know them all already,

but some months ago I watched a pretty cool one. It's not super famous;

the name is IT STAINS THE SANDS RED.

It tells the story of a stripper stranded in the middle of nowhere, in an American desert

near the Mexican border, I think,

and she has to walk for several days across the desertic plains.

Turns out, she gets her period,

so she starts leaving behind a trail of blood, since she has to get rid of her tampons

and obviously there are no trashcans in the desert;

so now she's like wounded prey leaving a bloody trail. And there's a zombie

walking after her, only after her, it's impossible to lose him. So you can imagine what it's like,

to walk nonstop until night falls and you're about to collapse. You have to stop

and sleep for a while, and you know that the goddamn zombie is like 20 metres (65ft) behind you,

and he won't stop, he needs no rest. It's a cool movie, because it's not like

"Bang bang guns, here's the Army, call for backup..." No; it's just

a woman trying to survive heat and hunger while chased by a zombie

who won't stop for a second until reaching her. It's a bit like IT FOLLOWS,

but funnier... and, you know, with more necrosis. Now, completely unrelated to zombies,

these 1-2 of September I'll be in Almuñécar at a Geeky-Comic-Books event

hosted by OUTWORLD SKS. They're new, it seems it's the first convention

they do in Almuñécar. And I'll be there

with other members of the Fantasy Club, signing and selling

my novel THE VISIT OF THE SELKIE (soon in English!). They'll bring their novels too,

which are pretty neat. So if you feel like dropping by

Almuñécar (Granada), near the beach... Come and say hi!

I'll be glad to meet you. The event, if I'm not mistaken,

opens at 10am and closes at 8pm, both 1-2 of September.

I'll try to be present as many hours as I can,

so come visit me if you're not too far.

And this was this week's video. I hope you liked it,

I hope you like zombies too; and, if you read any of these books, please

come back and tell me what you thought! You can comment in this video or in the next ones.

I love reading your comments, and try to reply as fast

as possible.

Well, I hope you're enjoying what's left of summer,

and thank you so much for watching me one week more. Until next time. Bye-bye! :D

Taller de Aprendizaje Inclusión de género - Duration: 4:41.

Generating knowledge from collective learning.

The Gender Mainstreaming within Coffee Producer Organizations project

is an initiative within the framework of the SAFE Platform,

Sustainable Agriculture Food Environment,

powered by the IDB-MIF and managed by Hivos.

SAFE is a platform that seeks to transform coffee and cocoa landscapes

in Latin America to create inclusive and people-centered environments

through the adoption of sustainable, climate-smart agricultural practices.

CLAC and TRIAS lead this collective learning initiative,

based on their joint construction experiences.

On May 8 and 9 in San Salvador, TRIAS and CLAC organized the first learning workshop

on gender-inclusive methodologies with some of the SAFE platform members.

Astrid Vreys, director of TRIAS Central America opened the event.

Astrid Vreys: Income lower than men.

The jobs that women do are paid less.

And also, women perform a lot of unpaid work,

which is not seen as work, it's considered support.

Narrator: The main objective of meeting with partners and related organizations of the SAFE Platform

is to identify common or complementary approaches to gender inclusion in the coffee chain,

based on concrete practices in Latin America.

The Neumann Foundation, Root Capital, CRS, Coffee Quality Institute (CQI),

Hivos, CLAC and TRIAS, presented and analyzed their methodologies and impacts achieved;

from a toolbox for sustainable coffee as a family business

developed worldwide by Hivos with counterparts,

or the inclusion of a gender approach in the cocoa chain applied by CRS in El Salvador,

to practical instruments of a checklist and a childhood care policy

by Root Capital in Mexico and Central America, among others.

In working groups, three methodologies were analyzed in depth, determining their success factors.

All methodologies are transformative; they look for lasting changes in people and their environments.

Neumann Foundation has a focus on teamwork between men and women,

while the experience of CQI's PGE strengthens the links in the value chain,

accelerating gender equity.

TRIAS and CLAC developed a toolbox that promotes the inclusion of gender

as a process of organizational change.

Before the end of the meeting, the vision of the future of the learning project was built,

concluding in specific continuity actions.

Esmeralda Cabrera (TRIAS): If there is something that has not been incorporated,

we can also take it and that is why it has its little arms open here,

so that when this learning space comes back stronger in a year,

we can add it and it will allow to continue contributing to this process.

Lula Perez (Root Capital): It is important to share between networks and also

share among the base organizations, that is, so it doesn't only stay between us.

The complementarity between the discussed approaches is seen in the articulation of work

at the personal level with men and women, at the home level where they relate to each other

and the organizational level where structural changes can be caused.

Juan Pablo Solís: And once the projects are approved, they are expected to report the percentage of women

in decision-making roles and the percentage of women benefiting from the actions.

Narrator: The interinstitutional dialogue has just begun.

The construction of knowledge is the objective of this learning community.

Exchanging experiences, strengthening approaches, sharing results;

the goal is to be able to influence a systemic change,

which includes from the producers and their organizations, to the coffee consumer.

Sara Becerra (CLAC): There is still a long way to go. There is still a lot to do,

but we are fully convinced that we will only do it and we will only go far

if we do it together and hand in hand with different actors.
