Higuain's place as Juventus' lead striker is in doubt following the arrival of Cristiano Ronaldo from Real Madrid

In his two seasons at the club, Higuain has been his usual prolific self with 55 goals but Juventus appear ready to let him leave and Chelsea are among the clubs interested

The FA Cup winners face competition from AC Milan for the Argentina striker but if he wants a fresh challenge, could move to England and link up with his former manager Maurizio Sarri at Stamford Bridge

In one season together at Napoli, Higuain scored 36 goals under Sarri and with doubts over Alvaro Morata, he would be an ideal replacement should the Spaniard leave

And Marotta admits Juventus are deliberating with Higuain's agents about his next step

"He is still an important player for us, but now we obviously have greater competition [up front], but he is a professional and we are evaluating his future together with the people who represent him," Marotta told Sky Sport Italia

"We have a great deal of respect for him." Ex-Fulham star Brian McBride believes Higuain would be a good signing for Chelsea because he would be the "main man"

"I think he would enjoy it from the standpoint that he would be the main focal point of that attack," McBride told ESPN

"Everywhere Higuain has gone, where he's been the main focal point, he's scored goals

"Certainly in the last year, not so much with Juventus, but still getting the job done - I still think he has a lot to offer

"Really, he's your true goalscorer. He's not a player who is going to hold the ball up

Whether or not that part gets solved by Chelsea, because they needed it last year, that's a different question

"I just think Higuain is gone [from Juve] from my point of view because he wants to be the main person, the main man to score goals

Man Utd transfer news: Ed Woodward proposed Neymar, Mbappe and Bale moves to Jose Mourinho - Duration: 2:40.

Manchester United boss Mourinho has told Woodward to sign Willian from Chelsea as he hunts a solution to the club's right-wing woes

Many fans, however, have been clamouring for a marquee arrival with Bale, Mbappe and Neymar all linked

Yet The Independent say that, while Woodward wanted to hunt a big-name signing, Mourinho had other plans for his Manchester United team

Mbappe and Neymar have both been linked with moves away from PSG, though both players have moved to quash any talk of a Parc des Princes exit

Bale, meanwhile, was seen as an attainable target in the wake of comments made after the Champions League final

The Real Madrid star hinted at a new challenge away from the Bernabeu but, with Cristiano Ronaldo and Zinedine Zidane no longer at the club, a deal is unlikely

The Independent say Woodward told Mourinho he was willing to push for Mbappe, Neymar or Bale in a meeting

Mourinho, though, turned down the United chief because of how he feels his side should play

He reportedly thinks a hard-working player like Willian would suit the club more than a flamboyant star

And that is also why he is ready to sell Anthony Martial, with United slapping a huge £80m price tag on the France international

Signing Willian now looks to be Woodward's main task with negotiations supposedly ongoing

Italian newspaper Tuttosport say, though, that a £66million fee between United and Chelsea has been agreed

United also have interest in Tottenham's Toby Alderweireld. But signing him from Spurs will be no easy task with the north London giants refusing to let him go for anything less than £50m
