Rand Paul Gives Trump Major News, MSM Stunned.
Sen. Rand Paul (R-KY), published an op-ed on Fox News explaining his work over the past
couple of weeks.
He wrote of his promise to the American people, and how he hopes to keep it at any cost.
Sen. Paul expressed that he plans to vote for the Senate version of the tax cut legislation,
according to The Washington Examiner.
"I plan to vote for this bill as it stands right now," Paul wrote.
As the end of the year approaches, many are wondering if tax reform will make it through
the system in time.
Paul may be the missing link to assure that happens.
Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-KY), can only lose two votes on the Republican
side if he hopes to pass the bill without help from Democrats.
The Left is still steadfast in their opposition to President Trump and likely will not vote
for the bill.
Many questioned Sen. Paul on whether or not he would vote for the bill.
He has challenged the GOP's methods and even voted against the budget resolution that
allowed the bill to pass the Senate with a simple majority.
Some GOP Senators are still unsure about voting for the bill.
The Left has heavily criticized it, leaving some Republicans skeptical.
Small amendments are expected to be made to get additional Republicans on board.
Rand Paul explained in his op-ed that he wants a tax reform bill that actually saves the
American people money.
Only then can he promise his vote to the people.
"One of the fundamental problems in Washington is the attitude that the money that people
make belongs to the government," he wrote.
"I believe it is the other way around.
Our default position should be that the money you earn belongs to you, and government has
to justify why it should take it from you," Paul deduced in his piece.
Sen. Paul described how he worked "directly with President Trump" to "keep multiple
promises in one bill."
Aside from cutting taxes, the new bill will also repeal the Obamacare mandate that has
been burdening many Americans.
He further explained that he favors a more significant tax cut, but notes that the
current bill is a step in the right direction.
As it stands, the bill is slated to cut $1.5 trillion over 10 years.
The closing of his op-ed is an open message to the rest of the GOP.
The message is powerful, and one Republicans in Congress should heed to understand the
importance of their promises made to constituents.
"The next few weeks in Washington will be important.
Will we keep our word and cut taxes?
Will we do what we campaigned on and repeal the ObamaCare mandate?
I will fight for both, and I look forward to ending the year keeping these important
promises to the American people," the Senator wrote.
Hopefully, other Republican members of Congress will follow Senator Paul's lead and support
the bill.
It would be a remarkable Christmas gift to Americans if Congress kept their promise.
Sen. Rand Paul announced that he plans to vote for the Senate tax bill as it is now.
