Liverpool Transfer News: Virgil van Dijk and Thomas Lemar deals now very unlikely - Duration: 2:00.

Liverpool Transfer News: Virgil van Dijk and Thomas Lemar deals now very unlikely

The Reds have had a busy summer, adding the likes of Dominic Solanke, Mohamed Salah, Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain and Andy Robertson to their ranks.

They have also agreed a deal for Naby Keita who will move from RB Leipzig to Anfield next summer. But the Liverpool Echo claim long-term interest in both Van Dijk and Lemar will not end in success this evening.

Jurgen Klopp was keen on Lemar but it appears Arsenal have trumped the Reds with a €100m bid.

And any deal is further complicated by the fact the Monaco star is on international duty with France and is set to play against Holland tonight.

Liverpool do have staff in Paris to conduct a medical but it now looks unlikely they will be needed. Southampton are also increasingly confident of keeping hold of Van Dijk. That's despite the centre-back handing in a transfer request at the club.

Van Dijk continues to train alone and Saints are determined to keep hold of one of their key players.

Liverpool went into the international break on the back of a dominant 4-0 win over title rivals Arsenal. And it appears they will have to make do with the business they have already conducted this summer.

Liverpool Transfer News: Van Dijk and Lemar updates, Vazquez to replace Coutinho claim - Duration: 2:37.

Liverpool Transfer News: Van Dijk and Lemar updates, Vazquez to replace Coutinho claim

Liverpool are unlikely to sign Thomas Lemar or Virgil van Dijk before the transfer deadline passes tonight.

But the Liverpool Echo claim long-term interest in both Van Dijk and Lemar will not end in success before the 11pm deadline. Jurgen Klopp was keen on Lemar but it appears Arsenal have trumped the Reds with a €100m bid.

And any deal is further complicated by the fact the Monaco star is on international duty with France and is set to play against Holland tonight.

Meanwhile, Southampton are confident of holding onto Van Dijk, despite the centre-back handing in a transfer request. The Holland ace is also training on his own away from his team-mates at St Mary's.

Liverpool are also preparing a late swoop for Real Madrid star Lucas Vazquez to replace Barcelona target Philippe Coutinho. The Brazilian has been chased by the Catalan club ever since they sold Neymar to Paris St-Germain.

However, Liverpool bigwigs are determined not to sell Coutinho and have snubbed several bids. Spanish news outlet Diario Gol reckon the Reds are eyeing a replacement if they eventually do sell and Vazquez could fit the bill.

The Spain international is only a fringe player at the Bernabeu and Zinedine Zidane might be tempted to let him go. The 26-year-old is a product of the Real academy having progressed through their youth ranks and into the first-team.
