Ruby Rose: I know Australia hated me
"I had done everything in Australia that I could do," she told News Corp during a return visit, "like literally I had a clothing brand, a radio show, I hosted my own TV show, there wasn't really anything I wasn't doing.
My relationship when I left was like 'oh my god, they hate me'.".
But yesterday, having flown in from the US for a whirlwind two-day trip to promote makeup brand Mecca Maxima's 20th birthday, fans couldn't get enough of the Aussie actor, proving Australia has most certainly fallen in love with her all over again.

During an appearance for Urban Decay at Chatswood Westfield yesterday, Rose looked every inch the bona fide Hollywood star, a far cry from her humble beginnings as a little known Aussie MTV VJ just a few years ago.
"It's hard work," the 31-year-old said yesterday of trying to make it in the US. "I had everything against me from a young age. For me to be where I am seems impossible looking back.".
Having been given her big Hollywood break in the third season of Orange Is The New Black, Rose went on to co-host the MTV Europe Music Awards alongside Ed Sheeran and land roles in Pitch Perfect 3, Resident Evil: The Final Chapter, xXx: Return of Xander Cage and John Wick: Chapter 2.

But she says she owes a lot of her achievements to a "squad" of Australians before her who helped ensure US film executives would take her calls and open their doors to her.
"It's because of people like Cate Blanchett, Nicole Kidman and Rebel Wilson, there's a whole squad of people who have worked so hard," she added.
"Australians are known to be such hardworking people and Americans see that and love it and already assume you're going to be someone who will work hard and do something spectacular, so I feel very happy that people paved the way for me to do that.
