China's J-20 Stealth Fighter Is Operational

According to a Chinese military spokesman, China's first stealth fighter, the Chengdu

J-20, has officially entered service with the People's Liberation Army Air Force.

First revealed in 2011, the J-20 is only the third stealth fighter to enter service with

any air force, after the F-22A Raptor and the F-35 Joint Strike Fighter.

A spokesperson for the Chinese Ministry of Defense, Senior Colonel Wu Qian, made the

announcement on September 28th in Beijing.

The aircraft was known as the J-20 during development, but the operational aircraft

is apparently called the J-20A.

This mirrors the development of the F-22 Raptor, which was labelled the F-22A Raptor when it

entered service with the U.S. Air Force in 2005.

China's development of the J-20A goes back to the late 1990s, when the government decided

to begin work on a large, twin engine fighter.

The first leaked photos of the aircraft appeared in December 2010, and the fighter was finally

sighted in early January 2011 at Huangtianba airfield.

U.S. intelligence expected the J-20A would enter service in 2018.

The J-20 has had a very public development period, with at least seven prototypes appearing

over the last six years, often with subtle but important improvements.

The fighter's nose shape, canopy, air intakes, and wheel doors were all altered and improved.

Engineers added radar-absorbent paint to further reduce the J-20's radar signature.

An infrared search and track sensor was added, which uses infrared cameras to detect, identify,

track and ultimately shoot at enemy aircraft with infrared guided missiles.

Yet another addition was a distributed aperture system (DAS), a series of cameras mounted

on the airplane that allows the pilot to "see" in all directions using a 4K cockpit display.

The only other fighter with a DAS is the F-35.

The official role of the J-20A is unknown, but it is most likely meant as a long-range

fighter.

The airplane stores all of its weapons internally to preserve its radar-evading shape, and has

three internal bays: one large bay for up to six PL-12 beyond visual range air-to-air

missiles, roughly the same as the American AIM-120 missile, and two smaller bays with

one short range air-to-air missile each.

J-20 fighters have flown with the 176 Brigade, a part of the air force's China Flight Test

Establishment, for approximately a year.

It's unclear what unit of the PLAAF the J-20A is operational with.

Media ≠ News - Duration: 4:09.

Nixon - The Press is the enemy...

Trump - Don't be rude...

Clinton - vast right-wing conspiracy

[voices overlapping]

Historically the free press is generally resented by politicians and people of influence

And recently leaders from around the world have waged war on the pre press

Many are accepting that media and news are synonymous

This seemingly innocuous. Why is having disastrous consequences that will only continue if we don't confront it

According to Merriam-Webster dictionary

News is "a report of recent events" Facts. Stuff that happened. Whereas media is "a medium of expression"

Conjecture. Speculation, hopefully based on facts.

President Trump is infamous for criticizing news outlets and the mainstream media and

calling anyone out that reports anything negative fake news.

This administration has locked media and news together as a singular entity

while Fox News and CNN have both been guilty of shoddy reporting,

they're not investigative journalistic institution; they're a mass media outlet. Thus, combining

talking Heads like Tucker Carlson or Anderson Cooper, with a journalistic institution like the New York Times or The Washington Post is

utterly ridiculous.

24/7 news is

constant speculation and analysis, whereas genuine news outlets are devoted to uncovering and reporting on the truth.

We are in a precarious position

for if we continue to build by the truth and

discredit legitimate news agencies will no longer be able to differentiate fact from fiction. Just because someone published a truth

that's unpopular does not make it any less true and vice versa. Instead of attacking someone who's doing their job with integrity

We should be encouraging media outlets to report on what's true and accurate.

If we have no investigative journalists

No genuine new source is no truth in the media. Then we will no longer

have a free press. We would become like the Soviet Union or

Nazi Germany relying on news the government deems is OK and positive about itself.

So what can we do to combat this?

Firstly check your sources. Before accepting anything to be true or sharing it verbally or on Facebook,

verify through at least three other sources, preferably ones with varying biases. Are your new source is credible and reliable?

There is a massive difference between Breitbart News and the BBC,

but what makes one source more credible than another?

Ask yourself: is the purpose of the article to inform or to feed a bias? Is it an opinion article?

Is it satire? Is the article designed for specific audience? Is the news agency extremist ? Does it simply

reinforce your point of view? Does the content make logical sense?

Does the agency post public retractions and corrections when they make a mistake or error? Have they lied or do they simply

Challenge your point of view? Are they historically on the correct side of things?

The BBC, The Washington Post, The New York Times, NPR , and C-Span are all solid sources if you're looking for a place to start.

Another way to combat this is is to hold others accountable.

If you hear a friend complaining about the fake news media,

ask what they mean. Are they conflating political

speculation with a legitimate news article that simply challenges their perspective? Is a person in high position

slandering the news for publishing something negative? As a citizen of republic

we must do our due diligence and strive to minimize the damage already done,

so that the Free Press is a right people generations from now can still benefit from.

Monaco 1-1 Montpellier - Football Sports News - Duration: 1:05.

Monaco 1-1 Montpellier

Second-half substitute Souleymane Camara struck in stoppage time as visitors Montpellier snatched a 1-1 draw with champions Monaco in Ligue 1 on Friday.

Camara found the back of the net two minutes into added time to cancel out Radamel Falcaos first-half opener as Monaco stayed second on 19 points, behind Paris St Germain on goal difference. PSG take on Bordeaux on Saturday.

Montpellier, who also held PSG in their previous game, are 10th on nine points. Monaco were defeated 3-0 by Porto in the Champions League on Tuesday and their limitations were once again exposed on Friday.

Montpellier dominated for long spells in the first half, shooting 10 times, but Monaco were more clinical.

On their first shot on target, they took the lead as Falcao latched onto a Rony Lopes cross for his 12th league goal of the season in eight games.

Leonardo Jardims team were more focused after the break as they held on to their minimal lead. But Camara, who came on in the 72nd minute, headed home to secure a deserved draw for Montpellier.

Camaras celebration was understated due to his respect for Monaco. The 34-year-old Senegal international had played for the Principality club as a youngster until 2005.
