Big news from Lemont High School! - Duration: 4:11.

(VOICEOVER): For more than 125 years, Lemont High School has served as the lone public

high school in the village of Lemont.

Over the last 15 years, it has stepped into the spotlight, affirming its place among the

top schools in the Chicagoland area.

With a majority of students having gone to school together for years - and many having

older siblings, parents or grandparents who are alumni - Lemont High School features a supportive, hometown feel.

(CHEERLEADERS): L-E-M-O-N-T

(VOICEOVER): So what makes Lemont High School special?

(MATT DOHERTY): There's something for everyone at Lemont High School, and that's important.

I think if you're going to offer a public education, it needs to be complete, and I

believe Lemont High School offers that.

(BRIANNA CARLSON): Lemont High School is a special place because it's not just a school.

You don't just walk in, learn, and then leave.

You walk in and it's your second home.

And it's also your second family because you have such close relationships with your teachers

and friends.

(KATHY YOUNG): The best thing about Lemont High School is that it's a part of a community.

And it's small enough for teachers and students to make connections, but it's big enough for

them to have a lot of opportunities.

(ANNA FORD): Lemont High School is a special place because it acts as a stepping stone for students.

It takes in middle schoolers and turns them around and makes them ready for college.

(RICK PRANGEN): I get the opportunity to work with some unbelievably talented and committed professional

educators, and we get to work with some of the best students in the state of Illinois.

(LILY GOODMAN): I like coming to school every day because of the staff.

If I ever need help with anything, all of my teachers are always really, really helpful,

and they're always within reach.

I can e-mail them at 11 o'clock at night and get a response the next morning, sometimes

before I even wake up.

(PAUL O'LEARY): Then you go to class and you see staff that really care, and they want to be there.

(WILLIE HAYES): I'm living my dream.

I grew up in Lemont, graduated from Lemont, now I'm back here teaching and coaching, and

it's an absolute privilege.

(BETH CANNON): For starters, my grandpa went here and my family all graduated here, so I have

deep roots here.

And it's a perfect size, where it's big enough for everyone to have something to do, but

small enough for it to be a close-knit community.

(ANGELA MARSHALL): The sense of community here that the students bring and the climate that is

cultivated by faculty and staff, it all works .... it all works.

(ARJUN REDDIGARI): I have a sense of belonging here, and it also allows me to grow overall and

sets my path for the future.

(EASTON TALLY): I would say we're really lucky here at Lemont High School because we get

both the opportunities of a big school - such as a bunch of different clubs, AP classes,

and even some college classes.

But we also get the attention from teachers that a small school would get.

Like, we can always come in and ask our teachers for questions or extra help, and I think that

really benefits us.

(JEANA PARRY): I love working at Lemont High School!

I have the greatest students, I've always had the greatest students.

I love that we have an administration that supports its teachers, and a community that

values education.

(VOICEOVER): Lemont High School is special because the students, faculty and staff who

are in the building each day perform their roles to the best of their abilities, and

work tirelessly to ensure that nothing falls through the cracks.

Each year, the United States Department of Education celebrates great American schools

through the National Blue Ribbon Schools program.

The National Blue Ribbon School flag is a widely recognized symbol of exemplary teaching

and learning.

(ERIC MICHAELSEN): I am happy to say that that flag will be flying at Lemont High School.

I would like to congratulate the students, faculty, staff and the community.

Lemont High School has been named an Exemplary High Performing school by the National Blue

Ribbon Schools program.

(VOICEOVER): A passionate faculty, driven students and consistent community support

have made Lemont High School home to families for generations.

All signs point to Lemont High School maintaining its status as the crown jewel of the community.

(BOARD OF EDUCATION): Go Lemont!

(P.E. CLASS): Go Lemont!

(VOLLEYBALL TEAM): Go Lemont!
