So you are an entrepreneur.
If I'm correct you focus on...
Your revenue!
Of course.
Of course?
Maybe you're still in the initial phase...
and you're working on your business plan.
But it's more likely...
that you'll be running for a while.
At whatever stage you are,
I'm sure you're focussing...
on the R of Revenue since day 1.
That's what the formula starts with.
You know: Revenue - Cost =
The P of Profit.
So: make as much revenue as you can,
pay all your invoices...
and the P of Profit is what you remain.
Profit is needed for the survival of your company.
And yourself. Your private life.
6 of the 10 companies don't survive...
in the long run.
The entrepreneur with an annual salary of 3 million...
only needs a few bad months,
- and another damage item on top -
to be part of that.
How is that possible?
Revenue - costs = still very simple?
The point is, I think,
- and I'm not alone here -
that in practice under that line...
doesn't remain enough.
Revenue - costs = too thin of a result.
And that is...
because we focus on...
the Revenue and the Costs.
You get it already: revenue and costs grow together.
Because of that - indeed, you know - that attention. The focus.
I challenge you to start...
focusing on the P of Profit next month.
Profit is not something you have to postpone.
Profit must always be made...
with every transaction.
You have to focus on that.
On the Profit.
Profit is not luck.
Profit is a habit.
Focus on the profit. No bullshit.
My name is Hans Ruinemans, boardroom monk.
May you be truly happy.
