Ander Herrera has spoken out on Jose Mourinho's sacking (Image: GETTY) Herrera, talking after Manchester United's 3-1 FA Cup victory over Arsenal, has claimed that he was not allowed to attack under Mourinho

"Everyone is allowed to go and attack now – even me!" Herrera told the Mirror. "We are playing with no limits, yes - it's exactly what Ole [Gunnar Solskjaer] brought to the team since the first day

"We enjoy scoring goals and we enjoy defending together." United have won all eight of their fixtures since Solskjaer was appointed caretaker boss in December - including impressive away wins over both Arsenal and Tottenham

United have scored 17 goals in just six Premier League games during that period, and Herrera reckons the attitude of the players has made a difference

"You can see that when we are playing free with a smile and everyone is playing for each other then the results will come easier," Herrera added

"We are doing great. It's always beautiful to win. That's why we play. "Ole has said we want to be a team that controls the game but sometimes that's impossible

"Ander Herrera joined Manchester United in 2014 (Image: GETTY) Spain international Herrera has been a regular starter under the new United boss, and is reviling in his new-found freedom on the pitch

"Sometimes we have to defend, but when we defend we know anything can happen because we have so many quick, attacking, offensive players," Herrera added

"I can make runs to be in the box, Paul (Pogba) can make runs to drive the ball forward, Ashley (Young), Luke Shaw is allowed to win the ball in the box and make a run even to the opponents' box

"Now I am allowed to go into the box soon after I defend. Even Nemanja Matic is allowed to shoot

"Ander Herrera is relishing life under Ole Gunnar Solskjaer (Image: GETTY) Mourinho was slammed for his defensive style of play at Old Trafford, and fans have praised Solskjaer for giving the players more flexible instruction

Herrera said: "Of course it's wonderful to have that freedom. But it's also a responsibility because you know if you are in your opponents' box and you lose the ball, you have to come back

"Our feeling is that if we perform at our best we can beat anyone. "It doesn't mean we are going to beat every team

But we have that belief. Because we have the quality to do it."
