The Spanish giants lost their prized possession in the summer as Ronaldo opted to switch La Liga for Serie A by joining Juventus

And former team-mate and close confidant of Ronaldo, Marcelo, claims it is 'obvious' that Julen Lopetegui's men miss playing with the former Manchester United star

"[Ronaldo] is the best in the world," he said. "It's obvious that you miss playing with him but [Gareth] Bale and [Karim] Benzema are really good too

"£9m windfall… Real Madrid are set to earn a cool £9million from Mariano's transfer from Lyon to Sevilla

Real Madrid sold Mariano to Lyon last summer after the Spaniard failed to make the grade at the Bernabeu

The 25-year-old enjoyed a stellar first season in France, helping Lyon to a fourth-place finish

Sevilla have come knocking this summer, with the La Liga club keen to sign the Real Madrid academy product

And according to Spanish newspaper Marca, Real will earn a tidy sum from the transfer

According to Marca, Real included a clause in Mariano's sale to Lyon that stated they would earn 35 per cent of any profit made on a future transfer

Sevilla are set to sign Mariano for around £36.2m (€40m) before the Spanish transfer deadline on Friday

Should the deal go through, Marca claim Real Madrid will earn just shy of £9m. The bulk of that will be from Mariano's transfer fee but Real will also earn around £800,000 they are owed for development costs

But Transfermarketweb say Los Blancos are now hellbent on landing Mbappe, with Chelsea's Hazard also in their sights

They have reportedly made Mbappe their 'ultimate' choice to fill the void left by Ronaldo's departure

PSG are currently the subject of a UEFA investigation and are reportedly struggling to pay Monaco the £166million they agreed to pay for Mbappe 12 months ago

Madrid could now make their move for the Frenchman if he becomes available.Girona 1-4 Real Madrid - Report Real Madrid overcame a slow start to secure a routine 4-1 victory over Girona and continue their winning start to the LaLiga season

Girona had been surprise winners in the same fixture last term but despite threatening a repeat when Borja Garcia opened the scoring early on, they could not contain Julen Lopetegui's side at the Montilivi

Penalties either side of half-time from Sergio Ramos and Karim Benzema shifted the momentum before Gareth Bale made it two goals in two league games since Cristiano Ronaldo's departure

Benzema popped up again late on to add the gloss and ensure Real matched Barcelona's six-point haul
