Brendan Rodgers believes Celtic will only get their mojo back if they string together a run of positive results

The Parkhead club had substitute Leigh Griffiths to thank for claiming an opening night win against Rosenborg in the Europa League, the striker's 87th minute header proving the difference between the teams

His goal prevented Celtic from racking up a second successive goalless draw but the slender win means only Partick Thistle and Suduva are the only team to have conceded more than once against the champions' in their past 10 games

Acknowledging that his side have rarely fired in all cylinders this season, the Celtic manager, who takes his team to Kilmarnock tomorrow, believes the dynamism seen in the past two season will only return by racking up victories

Asked why his side were still to find their best form, Rodgers said: 'I'm not sure

It's a bit of everything really. 'We lost dynamic players. We have had lots of games

We just have to continue to work hard on the training field and win games when you are not at your best

Being able to win and not give away much is important because that helps your confidence and you grow and grow from there

'The squad are very honest, a brilliant bunch of boys to work with. 'We haven't been as dynamic as we have been in the last couple of years

It might be a season for us like that, but we will always find a way and try to find a solution to perform well because performing, for me, is very, very important

' While the positive for Rodgers is five straight clean sheets, just five goals scored in as many league games to date is the obvious concern

'You can't score perfect goals all the time,' he added. 'That's probably the bit that's missing

When you get into the final third of the pitch, you see balls where they just need a bit of subtlety and a bit of softness for a pullback

'We're rifling a cross and you have no chance to finish.' Effusive in his praise for the way his players kept going against a Rosenborg side who set out to frustrate them, though, Rodgers feels the importance of getting the club's first opening night win in a group stage is hard to overstate

'The boys put a great effort into the game,' he said. 'I asked them to have this resilience and to have great spirit and persistence to keep going and they did that

'And they got the win. It was a very good three points for us against a team who came with a huge level of confidence

They won nine of their previous 11 games, and drew two. They were always going to be difficult for us, but we coped well

'I don't think we are anywhere near the level of our game. The win was probably down to spirit and persistence

'Whilst we are not conceding - that's five games when we have not conceded - you just have to keep going

'You have to be persistent and you have to trust right to the very end that we will get the goal

' Shorn of Kristoffer Ajer and Jozo Simunovic through illness and injury, respectively, Rodgers paired Dedryck Boyata with Filip Benkovic to good effect

A one-man soap opera as he failed to get his move to Fulham in the summer, the Belgian appears to have refocused to strike up an understanding with the on loan Leicester man

'You can see his (Boyata's) commitment,' Rodgers said. 'It was a wonderful header back into the second six-yard box

Griff read it really well and finished it. 'I thought he (Benkovic) was good. He is just finding his way

When the ball comes into the box and you are under a bit of pressure from set-pieces and crosses, you're looking at a centre-half who can really go and head it

I thought he was very good at that. His distribution of the ball was good. 'He will find more comfort the more he plays and once he understands how we play a bit more

For 21, he is very promising.' Rodgers will now implore his players to go again at Rugby Park tomorrow - a stadium where they lost last season

"That's what you have to do with all the games,' he said. 'It's just a case of recovering and that's why we have a biggish squad

"It will be a tough game for us. Steve's (Clarke) team are very well organised, tough to break down and are good on the counter attack

Transfer news: PSG threaten Barcelona over Rabiot approach in shadow of Neymar spat - Duration: 3:42.

PSG remain in Barcelona's and books after forcibly signing Neymar from the Nou Camp club last summer

The £200m deal - paid for up front - was only possible becuase PSG triggered Neymar's release clause

There has been a back-and-forth since between the two clubs, with Barca wanting a full investigation from UEFA into PSG's finances

Now the two clubs look set to lock horns again, just 12 months after the Neymar deal

PSG claim Barcelona have approached midfielder Adrien Rabiot without their permission

The Ligue 1 giants have threatened to report Barca to FIFA over the alleged illegal approach, unless Barca back off

Clubs are not allowed to directly contact players of another side unless that side has given them permission to do so

But in a twist to the transfer tale, Barcelona claim to have done everything above board in their pursuit of Rabiot

They insist, as reported by SPORT, that officials Pep Segura and Eric Abidal travelled to Pairs to inform PSG of their interest in the midfielder

Tensions between the two clubs have simmered since last summer - before Neymar's deal was even considered

PSG were irked by Barcelona's public pursuit of midfielder Marco Verratti, who was caught in the middle of a transfer battle

Verratti was snapped holding a front page of Barcelona-based newspaper Mundo Deportivo, with a report of his supposed impending transfer to the Nou Camp on the cover

PSG reacted furiously and it is thought Barca's actions over the failed transfer helped fuel the French club's decision to go for Neymar

Ligue 1 giants PSG have been under siege from transfer interest this summer. Barca have wanted Rabiot for a while after failing to make any headway over a deal to sign Manchester United midfielder Paul Pogba

And Real Madrid are interested in landing one of Neymar or Kylian Mbappe - although a deal for either man this summer appears very slim indeed

Neymar's future in Paris had been subject to speculation almost as soon as he joined from Barcelona

Neymar's father is said to have spoken to Real president Florentino Perez - via intermediary Wagner Ribeiro - regarding a possible move to the Bernabeu

As yet it appears as though the Brazilian will be remaining at the Parc des Princes, with manager Thomas Thuchel not wanting to lose any of his players at this stage of the transfer window

But a UEFA investigation in their Financial Fair Play activities could lead to a shock sale if the decision, which may not come this week, heavily impacts on PSG

Good news in battle against rhino poaching

Good news in battle against rhino poaching.

There has been a significant drop in the numbers of rhinos poached across the country.

According to a department of environmental affairs statement on Friday‚ a day before World Rhino Day‚ there were "dramatic declines" in the number of rhinos poached between January to August this year in nearly all provinces.

Departmental spokesperson Albi Modise said 508 rhinos were poached in the eight-month period this year compared with 691 over the same period in 2017.

"Rhino poaching numbers in the Kruger National Park also continue to decline.

In the period under review‚ a total of 292 rhinos were poached‚ compared to 332 in the same period last year‚" Modise said.

This comes despite a rise in poacher activity inside the Kruger‚ including sightings and incursions with poachers.

This year 1‚873 incidents were recorded compared with 1‚702 in 2017.

There was also a drop in rhino poaching in KwaZulu-Natal‚ from 163 last year to 83 this year.

The department said about 400 people had been arrested on various charges‚ including rhino poaching‚ since the start of the year.

This includes the arrest of 13 wildlife traffickers - eight South Africans and five Chinese – as they were heading towards China and Vietnam.

Since the start of the year 162 alleged poachers were arrested‚ 83 rhino horns confiscated and 145 weapons seized in the Kruger.

"It is still of concern that our own personnel are being arrested for rhino poaching-related offences.

Since January‚ four officials have been arrested by SANParks [South African National Parks] enforcement staff in the Kruger National Park for poaching-related offences.

These include members of the SAPS [South African Police Service] and the SANDF [South African National Defence Force]‚" Modise said.

But he said there were still concerns over the delay in the time it took for cases to get to trial‚ saying that traffickers had time to hide or dispose of their proceeds due to these delays.

"A welcome development is that a number of rhino poaching-related cases are now being dealt with by the [National Prosecuting Authority's] Asset Forfeiture Unit‚" he said.

Modise also added that 530 rhino poaching-related cases on court rolls across the country‚ involving 750 accused and 1‚738 charges.

"From January to August 2018 a total of 70 cases‚ involving 163 accused were finalised.

The trials have resulted in 93% guilty verdicts‚ translating to 288 years in sentencing‚" he said.

SANParks has 63 south-central and 199 south-western black rhinos in their rhino parks.

There were between 427 to 586 black rhinos in the Kruger last year.

"White rhino numbers in the park‚ however‚ continued to decline‚ with the population estimated at between 4‚759 and 5‚532 individuals during 2017.

White rhinos‚ unlike black rhinos‚ were affected by the drought – with natural mortalities increasing from 1% to 1.5% during the drought‚ while the birth rate dropped from approximately 9% to 5% one year after the drought." South Africa has exported 538 live rhinos since 2014 as part of the requirements of the Convention for the International Trade in Endangered Species of Wild Fauna and Flora (CITES).

Most (361) were exported to former range states‚ including Botswana‚ Chad‚ Namibia‚ Rwanda and Zambia for zoological purposes and for reintroduction to range states.

Since the Constitutional Court lifted the moratorium on the domestic trade of rhino horns‚ 28 trade permits have been issued.

"In terms of the permits issued‚ 12 permits were granted for the sale of 1‚219 rhino horns‚ while permits were granted to 16 buyers‚" said Modise.

Breaking News - Justin Rose and Tiger Woods share halfway lead at Tour Championship - Duration: 3:42.

World number one Justin Rose and Tiger Woods claimed a share of the halfway lead in the Tour Championship in pursuit of hugely significant victories in Atlanta

Rose carded a second round of 67 at East Lake to finish seven under par, a total matched in the following group by 14-time major winner Woods, who added a 68 to his opening 65

A second win of the season for Rose on Sunday would see the Englishman secure the overall FedEx Cup title and a bonus of £7

6million, while Woods is seeking a first victory since 2013 to put the seal on his remarkable comeback following spinal fusion surgery in April 2017

Woods covered the front nine in level par despite finding just two fairways, but birdies at the 12th, 14th and 15th briefly gave him a two-shot lead before a costly double bogey on the 16th, where he was forced to play out sideways from a fairway bunker after pulling his tee shot into thick rough

The 42-year-old bounced back to birdie the par-five 18th and join Rose at the top of the leaderboard, with Rory McIlroy two shots off the lead on five under and Jon Rahm, Justin Thomas, Patrick Cantlay and Billy Horschel a shot further back

Rose, who carded five birdies and two bogeys in his 67, told Sky Sports: '(I'm) happy with that score, it was a little rough around the edges compared to yesterday but you can't play like yesterday every single day

Happy that I was able to find a score out there for sure. 'I was waiting for a bit of momentum, felt like the round had got a little flat around the turn and then those two birdies in a row (on 13 and 14) really got me going

I took a look at the leaderboard at that point and realised that no-one had gone anywhere today, it was obviously a bit trickier for some reason

' As for playing with Woods in the final group on Saturday, Rose added: 'I'm very much looking forward to it, in my mind he's the greatest of all time just cause he's in the era I've witnessed

'It will be an honour to play with him as world number one but there's more at stake than playing with Tiger Woods and I'm looking forward to another day of business and edging my way towards an exciting Sunday

' Woods, whose last win came in the 2013 WGC Bridgestone Invitational, told Sky Sports: 'I ground out a round today, I wasn't as sharp as I was yesterday and missed a few shots but hung in there with a bunch of pars and made a couple of putts which was nice

' McIlroy, who won the Tour Championship and FedEx Cup title in 2016, was left to rue failing to take advantage of the par fives as he added a 68 to his opening 67

'I'm making enough birdies but I didn't birdie either of the par fives which is disappointing,' the four-time major winner said

'If I had been able to do that I might have been a little closer to the lead but no-one is going anywhere out there it seems

'I'll probably be one or two behind and it was nice to play the last four holes in two under par
