Hey guys for Complex News, I'm Natasha Martinez.
By now all airlines need to be having a reality show to keep up with all the issues going
on right now.
This time the latest drama comes from JetBlue where a family reportedly got removed for
having a birthday cake on board.
Minta Burke, Cameron, and their two children were aboard a JetBlue flight when a dispute
arose over a birthday cake the family chose to bring along as a carry-on item.
According to Cameron Burke, who captured some of the incident with his phone, he was asked
to remove his wife's birthday cake from an overhead storage bin.
The heartbreaking tears and confusion from the kids were caused when even after the the
family removed the cake from the overhead bin to the seat in front of them.
Things escalated when a second flight attendant reportedly berated the first flight attendant.
"She said I was being non-compliant.
I said, 'Miss, have you been drinking?'
Because her behavior was irrational and she stormed off."
None of the exchanges were caught on camera but you can see an airport security officer
confirming that there is no evidence of wrongdoing while filing a report but the plane was evacuated
and the Burke family was fully refunded for their flight.
On the other end of it, JetBlue offered a statement that painted a completely different
picture.
"[The customer] refused multiple requests from the crew to remove the items... became
agitated, cursed and yelled at the crew, and made false accusations about a crewmember's
fitness to fly."
Just another PR nightmare to add to the books for airlines in the US.
