Welcome, today I am in Puy de Dôme
next to a village called La Tour d'Auvergne
And I am going to see the waterfall called : Le Gour aux Chevaux (The Gulf of Horses)
Let's go
Waterfalls of France presents
Waterfall Le Gour des Chevaux
La Tour d'Auvergne
Waterfall of Le Gour des Chevaux
I have never seen of photographed this waterfall
So I am always happy to discover a new one
3 minutes from the road
and you'll be there
Waterfall Le Gour des Chevaux
10 meters high
The river is called Burande
And if you follow the river, after few hundreds meters, you will find the Waterfall of Elisabeth
The history about the name of this waterfall is not so nice
It seems it's a horses tarder
who came to the village Tour d'Auvergne, the town over there
to buy horses, he would have bought 6 of them, and leaving
he would have came here, during the night
and then, without knowing, he would have fallen,
with his horses
in this Gulf with his horses
That's why it's called
The Gulf of horses
Since I do not know this waterfall
I am discovering it at the same time
and that's why I love it
That's when I am looking for compositions
I've got one
a nice one
When you think about it, we could have the ice
and the silky water
and a foreground to give depth
Let me show you the composition
Here I will have this foreground, with this nice dark here
which will give a nice depth
then, this, and the waterfall in the middle
Why in the middle, because I have this ice
which will be in a third
to have more dynamic, and then the stalagtites
on the top
we will then have the full waterfall
I wanted to keep that part
which I think fell not a long time ago
I took the wide angle, the 17-40 mm, I often use it for my waterfalls shots
I added the ND6 filter, because there is still some strong light
100 ISO f22
10 secondes
here is a good example
I did some shots with the wide angle
which I liked
Because I think, it shows well the overall waterfall
but I did not move, and stay there, on the same spot
which I do not often do
I only change the lens to the 24 -70
and
I am at
60 mm
to be closer
have a look
it looks good, it's simple
the 1st one was good to see the waterfall
to show
where it is
now it's more simple, more minimalist
we still have this foreground with a lot of contrast
this part with ice, but we lost the side
which finally were not necessary
and that's funny, it's exactly the same,
100 iso f22 10 secondes
I love it
just changing gear, will change your shots
so do not hesitate
to move
changing your lenses
to have closer shots, or larger shots
to be more precise
let's try this one
Changing lens, at the same place to see what it could bring
I want to try it further
So I started with my wide angle
I always start with the wide angle, it enables me
to figure out the distance and have a global view of the waterfall
Then I took the 24-70mm
Now i took the 70-200mm
The exact same place
And i will try to have a nice composition
with this lens
Here is what I found
on the top of the waterfall
Here I have a nice diagonal, all right it's not really a diagonal
which will bring a very nice 'third'
with all this ice
with the other part of ice and snow
And we will then have a very nice slow silky effect
For the technical part, I am still at f22, I did not move my DSLR
Doing the focus, it's going to be a 15 sec shot
At 100 ISO, let's do it
That's the end of the video
I hope you liked it. Please leave a thumb's up and a comment
And Subscribe if it's not already the case
Time to ay good bye, Salut
