 Tottenham star Toby Alderweireld was earmarked as a priority signing. And Mourinho was even ready to sanction a pursuit of the Belgium international in January

 Under Solskjaer, however, that looks unlikely. He prefers youth and, with the player turning 30 in March, Alderweireld now no longer fits the bill

Ivan Perisic It is an open secret that, both last summer and in 2017, Mourinho was hellbent on bringing Ivan Perisic to Old Trafford

 And, prior to the Portuguese's departure, links were again beginning to arise. Perisic has struggled at Inter and reports have claimed he may be allowed to join United on the cheap

 But Solskjaer will not be pursuing the Croatia international. The United boss places emphasis on youth and has already admitted he has more than enough attackers on the books

Paul Pogba Mourinho was ready to get rid of Paul Pogba in January, regardless of how United bigwigs felt about it

 But that is no longer the case. Mourinho's plans to sell Pogba will not be carried out by new United boss Solskjaer

 He has already claimed he will look to build his team around the World Cup winner

 And the United hierarchy will be just fine with that.
