CHOSEN BY THE PATREONS

PLOT HOLES!!

In 1982 a film entitled Blade Runner. He passed without penalty or glory through the box office and did not have too many good reviews, but

to this day is a cult movie between the moviegoers. It is?

The shooting was an absolute chaos, full of fights between all, as well as the writing of the script,

his continuous rewrites, his improvisations during the filming and also the different assemblies.

But within that chaos, a miracle emerged, a conjunction of coincidences. Many professionals working together.

Good artists, good designers, good special effects specialists, the music of Vangelis, visionary photographers,

actors cojonudos and great improvisations, as the classic phrase of the end that took the actor of the hat ...

"Do not drink, do not smoke, do not take drugs ... sex and rock & roll"

And of course, the special ingredient.

For a cult work to succeed it has to leave a mystery, a loose end that makes the audience elucubren for decades.

Is Deckard a replicant? At the end of the video I will talk about it.

Now the thing is ... do you have script holes the film that concerns us?

Yes, it has certain points that do not end of being well spun and that does not make much sense.

And of course, there will always be someone who puts the typical comment of "that is explained in the book".

Well, since I read the book years and I've read it again, let's see if we solve these holes or not.

DO ANDROIDS DREAM OF ELECTRIC SHEEP?

The little stories of Philip K. Dick freak me out since I was a kid. I have all the fucking collection and whenever I can I reread them.

My first short film attempts were adaptations of their stories, and therefore I have a very special affection. To his stories. The thing about his novels is another song.

I liked some, like Ubik, but in general I think Dick tends to be a lot of the pot.

'Do Androids Dream of Electric Sheep?' was published in 1968, and Dick wrote it until the speedy ass. I suppose that is what gives quality to the work.

The differences with the movie are a few. In the novel, the story takes place in a San Francisco of the future, decadent and full

of dust and ash, in which a nuclear war it has left many people sterile and deformed, and has practically extinguished the animals.

In that world, having a real animal is a symbol of a high social status. But of course, if they die, so as not to lose it, they replace it with an identical but artificial copy.

That's what happens to the protagonist Rick Deckard with his sheep. I have never finished seeing the meaning governments make people adopt animals

and have them on their roofs or in their houses.

If they are in danger of extinction ... no Would it be better to have them all together in reserves so that they reproduce freely? Or transport them to the outer colonies?

It is precisely to these colonies as Mars where every god tries to flee in order to have

a normal and healthy life, as cities they have come from radiation and kippel, that is, lots of garbage and shit.

But it's from the colonies where the androids they try to flee, because they are enslaved in a lot of different tasks.

Dick also speaks in the religion novel, through a movement called Mercerism.

It's a kind of sect where the rock feels shared experiences thanks to some boxes

of empathy that makes them relive history of his savior Wilbur Mercer, a guy who

climb a hill, while everyone throws him stones, with the aim of reversing all the evil that afflicts the world.

Dick establishes a paradox. While the androids are not empathic but they feel emotions and they want humanity, what

authentic, human being ... humans They are cold but they channel their empathy taking care

of real animals ... and human mercerists they worship a false idol through a machine

to create emotions that are not real, but that help relieve their existential suffering and feel alive.

Dick really never explains how it works the machine simply exists with a specific function and point ball.

In the end the question is ... What is real and authentic? The prota sheep? The Lombard Street police station? Deckard himself? And what is unreal? The friend Buster? The emotions of the Penfield Organ of Animus? And which of the two is better?

The real is withering, while the unreal and artificial lasts forever, in theory it is better, more perfect.

I guess that's how pessimistic I saw the world poor Philip K. Dick, full of obsessions and mental problems. But the man was excited about this first great adaptation of his work that was

doing Ridley Scott ... but he died in 1982, very little before the premiere of the film. It's also bad luck, fuck.

THE REPLICANTS

Apparently, in some assembly versions it was said that 6 replicants had escaped and that one had died on the way to Earth.

When we see the movie there are only 4.

It turns out that that fifth android was removed of the movie at the last moment, but not the dialogue.

This was fixed in the 2007 Final Cut, which is the one that I have seen and the one that I am going to analyze, so I will ignore this.

Replicants are androids with appearance human who serve as slaves in the outer colonies; on Earth are forbidden and they are illegal.

Ok, very good, but ... why Tyrell Corporation decides that they are so fucking human-like that it's almost impossible distinguish them?

Why not create them with some distinctive clear to make them see that they are not human?

Something physical, I mean, plan antennas or something metal. There should be laws in that sense.

You avoid many problems if they escape or rebel, as is the case. Okay, they only live 4 years, but in that they can bind it brown

And they could also make them all the same, because if each one is different, apart from the extra expense, it is more fucked up to find them.

And how the hell escaped the colonies after charging more than twenty people?

How could they land so quietly in the 2019 California?

Does your programming also teach you to piloting spaceships?

Is there no security system that prevent the illegal passage to the planet?

I do not care so much how they did it. But what does scare me a little is the fact that, even though the cops

they have the photographs of the four replicants escaped, they see it necessary to give them the Voight-Kampff Test,

the psychological analysis to unmask to the replicants, the only way to know if they are human or not.

We see it in the first scene, when Holden is examining Leon in the Tyrell building.

How has Leon finished in the building with the Blade Runner quietly doing the test?

Was not he running away with Roy and the other replicants? If they have your picture, why does not Holden shoot instantly? Why not tie him even if it is preventive?

Where does the Leon gun come from? Is there no metal detector? Fuck, this guy is supposed to have killed a lot of people.

And how Leon escapes from a building supposedly as safe as Tyrell Corporation?

And why flee? Was not that where they wanted to be? to go? See your creator?

Fuck, they spend all the fucking movie looking for him. The same thing happens in the book in the part of Luba Luft.

Deckard knows that she is a replicant who He dedicates himself to the opera and goes to his dressing room to do the test. And in the middle of the test he gets a gun, normal.

By the way, the girote of plot that comes after This kid's thing freaked me out, but re-reading it now ... do not you think it's a fucking madness?

That is, that there is a police department parallel and hidden in which the boss, Garland, is android, and has police employees humans for at least 3 years as Phil Resch ...

but let none know of the existence from the police department really ... What the fuck ... Here is a literary hole of the host. I'm going to have to make another channel.

THE EMPATHY TEST

What exactly is the Voight-Kampff test? What does it consist of?

Well, as they explain in the film, the replicants they do not have the same emotional response as humans, they lack empathy, and by making questions about babies,

about his mother or about turtles turned around apparently a few more seconds to imitate normal responses.

Does that mean that a human person Could it be "withdrawn" if it was not especially empathetic?

Go movidón, no? Of course in the novel they touch the subject, and They treat it as a lesser evil.

If we charge a non-empathic nothing happens, because most likely he is a crazy fool, a psychopath or something like that.

Anyway, they have a bone marrow test to make sure of everything. That in the movie does not come out.

As I say, in the book the test this has its importance, but in the movie it seems that it will be an element of the mega important plot, and yet then they completely forget him and ale, shots for everyone. Do not even ask.

Anything that attacks Deckard will receive a bullet. There are no half measures.

But the funny thing is that the same movie it shows us that replicants have something different.

Apart from stronger, they also resist Cold fucking temperatures without being affected.

Instead of having to do a very long test and nagging with dozens of questions ... why do not they just lower the temperature of your cell to see how they react?

Or they throw ice at him, what do I know? Or they take samples of their skin to measure their resistance. Anything but the test cognac.

RACHEL

Rick says that to detect a replicant with the test sometimes it is necessary up to 30 questions. Rachel does not, she needs 100.

Why, Tyrell? Why this mania to make androids undetectable to scanners? And why is it so hard for Rick to find out that she is a replicant?

Why did they implant memories? Does that make her more empathetic? This scene is practically the same as in the novel, but it is in this one that there is a very strange thing.

Both Tyrell and the police are supposed to be They benefit from the fact that the test works. If there is no way to detect the Nexus 6, he will not be able to continue making them.

Why then Tyrell insists so much on that Rachel is human and that the test is defective? Did you want the business to be plated?

Later in the movie Deckard receives orders that I also remove Rachel, who has escaped. First, how the fuck has escaped?

Did Tyrell let him piro the building? She tells Deckard herself that she does not think Go back with Tyrell because he would not let him.

If the guy has warned the Blade Runners to let them get rid of her ... why do you let her go?

The fact is that Rick and Rachael fall in love. But Rick, who is a robot! Why is it thrown away? Not that they were in Japan. What do you see in it? Incomprehension? Do you also feel that it is different?

It is necessary that they roll up in favor of the plot, but something forced yes I see it. More character development would not have been wrong.

ZHORA AND LUBA LUFT

The 4 replicants have landed in Los Angeles after killing several people and now take refuge in a fucking apartment. What do they do?

Do they pay rent? Have they occupied it? Do the replicants have a need to live in apartments? To eat?

The policemen manage to find the floor and there that go. How did you find out?

Apparently they find it because Deckard remembers Leon's recording and he specifically says where he lives. Why does he do it if he did not want them to find the floor and the photos?

And nobody else from the department has been costing of that clue so fucking obvious?

Deckard finds something in the bathtub that it draws attention. Some scales of artificial snake.

Apparently each and every one of the scales The animal has a serial number, which sends balls, and that takes you to the club of Taffy Lewis.

He also finds on the floor a series of photographs that Leon apparently kept with affection or something like that. He tells Roy that he could not get them back when police arrived.

Rick starts to investigate one of them and doing zoom to the beast sees the image of a woman, Zhora, one of the replicants, with a tattoo in the face, and in the club that is his way of recognizing it.

It is assumed that he also had his photos of the file of the police, but good. Here my doubts are: Why Zhora is the Only one that works?

I suppose that Zhora, like the Luba Luft of the novel, she was not interested in extending her life but in living as much as possible a human life, or similar to it.

But what does the rest of your friends think? Do you see it well? What are they doing in the meantime? Do they work on something or are they just killing people?

When did they take those photos and why? Why were they so guarded? Does it have something to do with the search for memories and memory to gain empathy?

In the end Deckard is shot with Zhora down the street and hey, the cop goes directly to pick up the body. The Blade Runner takes a while to identify and teach them their credentials.

If I'm an agent and I see that scene first thing What I do is point Rick and disarm him. He just loaded a half-naked turkey in the middle of the street.

By the way, do not you think that Deckard is the worst fucking cop in history? Except for the photo, do not investigate shit. All the tips are given by your boss.

And in the novel it happens the same, it talks more about goats and sheep that police investigation. And the poor man is that he does not give one, because the four replicants you have to capture,

they all beat him with a shit and almost they kill him He saves himself from everything pure miracle.

TYRELL

The goal of Roy, the chief replicant, is to reach his creator, Eldon Tyrell, for chat with him and make him live forever. The typical Something simple.

His way of finding him is to look for a guy who makes replicant eyes, and have him tell him that there is a certain JF Sebastian who meets periodically with the boss.

The guy has a very important position, but he prefers to live in a house to be abandoned and filthy. And without fucking security.

In this movie, many guards are missing, because everyone can enter the homes of others without any fucking problem.

Roy and Pris go to the man's house this one and force him to call Tyrell to let them climb into his attic inside the building of the corporation.

But is that the way they get access It does not make fucking sense.

The Tyrell of the balls is supposed to be lonely and very suspicious of security. But you do not see a fucking guard at any time, no security cameras, no detectors.

Already at first it is strange that Sebastian suddenly appear there. Normal, you have to remember that there are several replicants loose that have been charged to several people. But it goes, it does not matter.

Apparently Sebastian and Tyrell had pending a game of chess. Sebastian complains that his boss always I won him, less once.

However, on that occasion, with only two plays already achieves a perfect checkmate and the impressed Tyrell lets him climb to "Discuss the matter."

What business? What has won you? Assume it and go to sleep, crust!

And then of course, when you see that the guy has brought to a little friend who is the dangerous escaped replicant ... instead of squeezing some alarm button or some shit style ...

no, he starts to chat with him until he bust the skull. By asshole.

And Roy is a good time talking with him to tell him to see if there is a cure for his imminent death. And what is the other going to say?

Well, no, and let him go to his fucking house. Tyrell could be lying to his face, So ... what real options did Roy have to achieve his goal? I think very few.

Of course he was never in the best position to demand from Tyrell an operation to improve him. Being Tyrell its creator could have rip off a thousand ways. There Roy was not very smart.

REPLICANTE OR NOT?

After the final scene where Deckard confronts Roy, he decides to save his life before that he throws himself off the ledge, releases his shit and dies. But does it make sense for the replicant to save Rick?

I suppose Roy, who craved humanity but he also did not know what that was, he somehow manages to be empathetic.

Empathize with Deckard and decide not to let him die. And the key would be in his memories.

They already say it at the beginning of the movie, that the artificial memories in Rachel serve as an emotional basis to humanize her and make it better the test.

And in the end it's like the memories of everything what Roy has experienced, the C rays beyond Orion and that fucking shit, they end up transforming in that, in empathy with human beings.

Gaff arrives and tells Rick it's a shame Rachel can not live either. But when she gets home, she is alive.

He sees Gaff's origami and understands that it's like that gives them free rein to get together if they want, even if the girl does not live to live a lot. Why does Gaff do that?

We do not know, it's a character with hardly any development, like everyone in the movie, but that's the mystery.

The doors of the elevator and end are closed.

This version does not have that country plan that the producers of the leftover planes of the Radiance were given to give it a final happy to the tape.

The truth is that it was quite fun. A shit that you flip. And here comes the big question.

Is Deckard a replicant? Well, everything seems to indicate yes. What better than someone without empathy to hunt to androids that look human.

And what proof do we have of it? Rachel tells him at one point to see if He has done the test himself. And Rick sweats to answer.

And then there is his dream with a unicorn and the figure of the same animal that leaves Gaff right at the end. How did Gaff know about the unicorn? Is it an implanted memory?

Why implant the memory of an animal mythological? Is Gaff a Blade Runner in charge of monitoring Replicator Rick?

What do the creators say? Screenwriter Hampton Fancher says he does not He is a replicant, and Scott says yes.

And the boss is Scott so ... from then the sequel does not clarify it, and if the androids lived only 4 years ... I would not have It felt like Deckard came out so old.

Many doubts, of course. In the book the identity crisis of Deckard It goes in another direction.

Meet another bounty hunter, Phil Resch, that has no remorse when killing the andrillos.

Deckard eats the jar because after killing Luft begins to feel empathy for them.

It's not that he thinks he's an android, but that the androids could have something of humanity, and therefore, not be so different from them.

So he decides to buy a goat and then Fuck Rachel.

It does not help much, it turns out that the girl is dedicated to sleeping with these hunters so that they empathize with the artificial and mine them morally or something like that. And then protect the other andrillos.

The explanations given are quite confusing, because first he says that he is afraid that Pris, who is like her, will replace her, But then he wants to protect the rest ... Does Eldon Rosen, the owner of the Rosen Association, know this?

And if you know what's the point, what's Does it make up for that there are droids of his own killing people? For your company it is bad reputation.

And why after Rick kills everyone ... the android shoots his goat off the roof? For revenge? Spite? I dont know. It is open to interpretation.

It also turns out that the androids have years infiltrated in the most watched TV show on Earth, that of friend Buster,

only to reveal at the same moment that mercerism and everything related to human empathy, is pure fantasy.

But it does not matter because people will believe in This is as long as it makes them happier, even if it is a trick.

This part becomes especially confusing, especially when Deckard gets out of town and merges with Mercer, realizing that empathy can also occur not only with the real,

but also with the artificial, as with the toad that is then mechanical and adopts it equally.

The questions I ask myself are: How the fuck does Rick connect to the empathy machine? Where does the electric toad come from?

Who throws stones? How the fuck does Mercer appear in the middle of the stairs to warn him that Pris is going to kill him? Deus ex machina?

Fantasy, reality? I guess it's the grace of the book, which is a fucking madness.

The truth is that if we start to theorize about the novel, everyone could be a replicator, Isidore included.

Anyway, here we finish this analysis of Blade Runner. I have pending The Awakening of the Force and Deadpool 2, also with surprise included.

And if you want me to talk about Blade Runner too 2049 give like and share the video to sack. And if you like the Middle Ages visit my other channel But that's another story.
