Arsenal are expected to make several changes to their starting XI when they look to get back to winning ways against Fulham on New Year's Day

Unai Emery's side were humbled 5-1 by Liverpool on Saturday and a number of players are in danger of losing their places in the first-team as a result

**PREDICT FIVE RESULTS AND WIN £25,000 - FREE TO PLAY HERE** However, the Gunners continue to be constrained by injuries with Ainsley Maitland-Niles – scorer of Arsenal's only goal on Saturday – the latest to be sidelined

Emery's men are now five points adrift of the Champions League places and major changes may take place ahead of Fulham's visit to the Emirates

Shkodran Mustafi was substituted at half-time during the mauling at Anfield and could miss out in favour of club captain Laurent Koscielny

Stephan Lichtsteiner and Sead Kolasinac may also drop to the bench with injured stars Hector Bellerin and Nacho Monreal closing in on returns to full fitness

Emery has employed a diamond formation in recent weeks but opted for a 4-2-3-1 at Anfield and is expected to persevere with the same shape against Fulham

If this is the case, Lucas Torreira and Granit Xhaka should continue in central midfield behind an attacking trio of Alex Iwobi, Aaron Ramsey and Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang

Mesut Ozil remains a doubt due to a knock on his knee while Alexandre Lacazette should get the nod up front after being restricted to a substitute appearance last time out

Henrikh Mkhitaryan, Danny Welbeck and Emile Smith Rowe are all ruled out while Konstantinos Mavropanos and Rob Holding are also unavailable

The Gunners have won their last four meetings with Fulham, including a 5-1 rout at Craven Cottage earlier this season

However, Fulham come into the match unbeaten in their last three matches and are likely to prove a sterner test under Claudio Ranieri

Arsenal predicted line-up vs Fulham – Premier League (4-2–3-1): Leno; Bellerin; Papastathopoulos, Koscielny, Monreal; Torreira, Xhaka; Iwobi, Ramsey, Aubameyang; Lacazette

Liverpool news: Mark Clattenburg grills FA over Mohamed Salah dive against Newcastle - Duration: 3:01.

Liverpool cruised to victory against Newcastle on Boxing Day, winning 4-0 in another stunning display at Anfield

Salah was on target that day - scoring after Dejan Lovren's opener and before goals from Xherdan Shaqiri and Fabinho - but made the headlines for all the wrong reasons

**PREDICT FIVE RESULTS AND WIN £25,000 - FREE TO PLAY HERE** Many fans felt the Liverpool star has dived to win a penalty - though the FA refused to take action in the aftermath

But former Premier League referee Clattenburg has criticised the Egypt international for his actions

"Diving has once again become a problem in the Premier League," he told the Daily Mail

"Mohamed Salah won two soft penalties in three days and Harry Kane was booked for simulation against Wolves

"It is time the FA got strict and their panel must be ruthless when reviewing incidents

"If referee Michael Oliver had decided Salah dived against Arsenal, Salah would have received no punishment other than a caution

"But if the panel decided retrospectively that he dived, he would receive a ban. It's flawed

The only way to kill diving is if the FA are strong. "People have said Salah did not dive against Newcastle on Boxing Day, so are we saying that contact was enough to knock him down? "What will happen when video technology comes in? Will they see that hand on his left arm and decide it is a spot-kick? " Clattenburg also criticised Harry Kane

"If a player has a chance of scoring, hitting the deck is not in his head," he said

"Look back at Sergio Aguero's goal against QPR to win the title for Manchester City in 2012

"How many chances did he have to go down? He didn't because all he wanted to do was score

"Salah was not likely to score from either of the positions he was in against Newcastle or Arsenal, and neither was Kane

"These are the incidents the FA should be trying to stamp out."

Chelsea latest news Chelsea fan compile an interesting video of Mateo Kovacic's displays in December - Duration: 5:00.

Say what you like about Chelsea this season, but their midfield is stacked with quality

David Luiz is still worrying some of the nervier supporters at Stamford Bridge in defence and Alvaro Morata certainly isn't the prolific goalscorer Chelsea need, but they're unstoppable in between

First things first, they have N'Golo Kante patrolling the defensive areas of the pitch and although he's been deployed differently under Maurizio Sarri, he remains one of the world's best at his job

Then there's Jorginho who has helped the Blues to embrace the club's new brand of football and has been a passing machine, breaking his very own Premier League record at the weekend

The final midfield spot is unquestionably the most debated, however, with three in-form players all scrambling for that remaining position in the starting XI

Ross Barkley is one of the contenders, having enjoyed an unexpectedly impressive start to the season after choosing a move to west London back in January

Up next is Ruben Loftus-Cheek who has won the hearts and minds of supporters with his rise from the academy, scoring six goals in 15 appearances this season

In spite of their efforts, however, it's Real Madrid loanee Mateo Kovacic who remains the favourite of Sarri and he has already been deployed on 24 occasions across the 2018-19 campaign

Although undoubtedly technically gifted, Kovacic has often proved a divisive figure amongst Chelsea fans and popular opinion of him can shift from game to game

Yet, just as debate about his position reached fever pitch, his performances saw an impressive upturn and December has been something of a watershed moment for the Croatian

So it's only fitting that YouTuber user and Chelsea fan 'CFC videos' has strived to get the message out, compiling a compilation titled: 'Mateo Kovacic did all this in one month

An apt title for a superb set of highlights - check out the video down below: One of the most underrated players in the Premier League, there's no doubt it

The only thing missing from his game is the goals that graced his time with Inter Milan, but almost every other aspect of his performances have been superb in recent weeks

It's credit to Kovacic that he has been able to maintain his spot in the starting XI despite brilliant form from Loftus-Cheek and Barkley since the summer

And it really makes Chelsea fans wonder: should they sign Kovacic on a permanent basis next year? The player himself is certainly open to the idea, remarking in last week: "I think it [leaving Real Madrid] was the most important thing I did for now in my career

For now, I am happy here. The city is amazing, the club is one of the best in the world, and my team-mates are great

I need to respect my previous club, Real Madrid." Do you think Chelsea should sign Kovacic permanently? Have your say in the comments section below
