Progressive rock is a subgenre of rock music
which started to exist from psicodelic rock.

It started as an attempt of giving more artistic credibility
to rock music. When this appeared, bands stopped being forced
to make songs of 2 or 3 minutes and they stopped thinking about duration limits.
That is why we have 10 minutes songs,
20 minutes songs, or even 40 minutes songs!
And they added new instrumentation and composition techniques
that had never been used in rock music before.
With this elements borrowed from
Jazz and classical music, they pretended to achieve the same sophistication level.
and respect from the press. There are great
examples of this
subgenre, which you will probably know,
such as Yes, King Crimson; which we are currently
listening to; or Marillion, Emerson,
Lake and Palmer; or even today's people, such as
Haken or Steven Wilson.
Another subgenre of rock music is Art Rock.
It is sometimes misleaded with progressive. Both of them are distinguished because
they are experimental music and
seek for an elevation
of rock music to a whole new level. But intelectual ambitions of Art rock,
make it experiment with ambitious rithms,
