Aaron Ramsey has received a fresh contract offer from Arsenal after Unai Emery informed
the club he wanted to build his side around the talented Welshman, reports say.
Arsenal and Ramsey have been locked in talks for much of the season, as the midfielder's
current deal is set to expire next summer.
Ramsey has so far turned down every offer from Arsenal, but on Tuesday he hinted he
wants to stay at the club after the appointment of Emery.
Emery succeeded Arsene Wenger and informed Arsenal he did not want to lose Ramsey.
The Times claim Arsenal have reacted to Emery's instructions and offered Ramsey a five-year
deal which includes a significant wage increase.
Arsenal are desperate to avoid a repeat of Mesut Ozil holding the club to ransom and
Alexis Sanchez exiting to join a rival.
Sanchez forced a move to Manchester United in January and Arsenal were powerless to stop
the Chilean, who had just six months left on his deal.
Arsenal then handed Ozil a massive pay rise to ensure he signed a new contract, and the
German's new wages has caused friction among the first-team stars.
Ramsey earns £110,000 a week and was holding out for something closer to Ozil's mammooth
£350,000-a-week contract.
The 27-year-old is now mulling over the offer and is due to return to London for further
talks on Wednesday.
Ramsey has been representing Wales in the United States and Arsenal are anticipating
the negotiations to drag on throughout the summer.
