After winning the Premier League in his first campaign at Stamford Bridge, things went awry for the Italian in his second season
Chelsea missed out on Champions League qualification after stumbling home in fifth but ended the season on a high by winning the FA Cup
It's understood Conte will now be shown the door with Maurizio Sarri the prime candidate to replace him
But Balague, while discussing the vacant Real Madrid job on Sky Sports, claimed Conte could be going nowhere because Chelsea don't want to pay him off
Balague said: "It doesn't seem obvious for Mauricio Pochettino to leave right now even if Florentino Perez will want him at some point
"Then there is others, there have been other names that have been linked to Real Madrid in the past like Thomas Tuchel but he is now at PSG
"There's even Conte who has been put up in the betting odds even though he doesn't really suit Real Madrid in the way he plays
"Right now Conte is in a stand-off situation with Chelsea because Chelsea don't want to pay off completely what Conte wants to be paid off
"That situation may even mean he stays at Chelsea, we will see."Blues skipper Cahill this week admitted talk about Conte's future had impacted the atmosphere around the club but believes a resolution is not too far away
"It's been a strange season," he said. "There's been a lot of speculation for many months now
"The season has finished, it finished on a high for us."We won a major trophy so that was great for everybody - for the fans, the players and the staff
"And what will be this summer will be and as players we have no influence over that and I'm sure you will get your answers to your questions in the next month or so
"Asked if he wanted Conte to stay, Cahill added: "Listen, he's been good for me."I have taken things from him, like I have from the rest of the managers
"I've enjoyed the success we've had together. He's been great."It's difficult because you see the speculation for so many months now and it's difficult in some way
"But the only aim for us was to finish the season very well - i.e. win the cup - and we managed to do that together
"So, two major trophies up to now with the manager, it's been good."
