Hi guys, we are in Laos right now.
It's actually already our fifth day here.
The first four days, we were in the capital Vientiane.
But we are sorry, we didn't make a video about that city.
Because it was just to hot,
there is actually not so much to do there
and most importantly, after 3 months of traveling we had to recharge our batteries.
But we did visit some place
like the Buddha park and the arch of Patuxai.
Places that we really recommend.
And you obviously know that if you want some tips about traveling to Vientiane,
you can always contact us on Facebook, Instagram or here on YouTube.
So after 16 hours of traveling from Vientiane, we have arrived at this place.
What you can see behind me is the Mekong River.
This is the 8th longest river in the world.
It passes through China,
Myanmar,
Vietnam, Cambodia, Thailand and Laos.
Apart from that, it forms the border between Thailand and Laos.
So here is Laos.
There is Thailand.
And behind me, a few kilometers from here, is the border with Cambodia.
And to be a bit more precise, we are in Si Phan Don.
This means 4000 islands.
Because in this place the Mekong River opens up
and streams through 4000 islands,
of which the majority are uninhabited
because in the rain season they get flooded.
We are currently on the island called Don Det, the most famous island amongst travelers.
In the days that we'll be here, we'll explore this island
and an island called Don Khon.
But today no discovering and no exploring.
Today we're going to rest here in our hammocks.
And as you can see, Mónica is already giving a good example.
So I'll just join her.
See you tomorrow.
Third day on the island and we finally managed to activate ourselves.
Today we're going to Don Khon to see what if has to offer.
Right?
Yes.
We are here on Don Det because of a recommendation from a friend we met in Yangon (Myanmar).
Yes, thanks Luke, from Malta.
Normally we weren't going to come here.
We were actually going to visit the north of Laos.
But we decided to change our plan and come here to the 4000 Islands
of which everyone talks very higly.
So we're here,
ready to explore.
We just arrived at the famous waterfall park here in Don Khon.
Although I don't know if it's that famous,
but everyone just comes here.
The entrance fee is 35.000 kip.
So let's go see if these waterfalls are worth it.
As you could see, we came here on a scooter which cost us 100.000 kip for the whole day.
A good price I think.
But lots of people also rent a bicycle.
This is obviously cheaper, just 10.000 kip per day.
But a scooter is faster, more fun and just easier.
Which is really appreciated in this heat.
It looks like there is no age limit for scooter use here in Don Khon.
This kid must be like...
10 years old maybe.
So we are here, look.
It's not bad, although it's not the Niagara Falls.
But for 35.000 kip...
It's worth it.
And as always...
A temple.
If you have a really low budget...
you can always sleep here.
I think you'll have a spectacular view in the mornings.
Be careful with this tree.
It's a bit spicky.
This is the result of our attempt to taking our special photo.
This really hurts.
So just be careful.
Poor Kevin...
Way in the back.
Walking slowly.
Because he hurt his foot.
Why didn't anyone tell us earlier?
Here they have free bungalow, free WiFi,
free pool, free volleyball,
free sunset...
Everything is free.
We should have rented a room here.
Cheers.
Something to refresh ourselves.
Because although it's not 40 degrees anymore,
31 degrees is still a lot.
Look at this beautiful beach.
It's supposed to be possible to rent a boat here, to go watch the Mekong dolphins.
It costs 35.000 kip per person.
But we're not going to do it.
Because it's our last day here on the islands.
And there aren't any ATM's here.
And we have just enough money to eat, so...
I think Mónica prefers to eat.
That's right.
They also say that it's not always sure that you'll spot any dolphins.
And the dolphins aren't sea dolphins
so they aren't jumping.
So let's not take the risk and let's go eat.
We made it the most southern part of the island of Don Khon.
And the island you can see behind me is already Cambodia.
That's just crazy.
We are so close to crossing the border.
But we aren't going to.
Yet.
But just look how beautiful this all looks.
We'll eat something here while we wait for the sunset.
And before we say goodbye to the 4000 islands and to you,
we'll give you the answer to the question: how much does a trip to Laos cost?
We were just here for 1 week.
We arrived at Vientiane and we didn't make a video about this place.
But if you need tips about traveling to that city, you can contact us on our social media.
The hostel were we stayed in Vientiane costed 60.000 kip per night.
But if you want more privacy,
you can rent a bungalow here on the islands
starting from 100.000 kip.
And as we just received our food, we'll now tell you how much it costs to eat in this country.
You can find cheap and large meals for about 15.000 kip.
End lastly, transportation.
You can move from one city to another by bus.
The night buses have beds so they are pretty comfortable.
And as means of transportation inside the cities,
the most convenient thing is to rent a scooter.
This will cost about 100.000 kip per day.
And if you're not lazy, you can also rent a bicycle.
We chose not to, because of the tremendous heat.
But it's a nice alternative which is cheaper and more ecological.
And now we say goodbye to you and to this country to go to our next destination.
If you want to know which one that is,
don't miss the next video of VagaJuntos.
Thank you!
