It all started from wild strawberries.
For a friend of mine with high aesthetic standards,
who already had everything,
I was wondering what I could do to brighten up his life.
I came up with the idea of planting a wild
strawberry flower in a little test tube.
I surrounded it with moss
and tiny round stones.
Maciek called me and said:
„Listen, this is amazing, I have a fruit,
a wild strawberry, it's all alive.
I made a piece of glass that looked
like air bubbles, drops of water
that melt into nature.
It was fused onto tree stumps,
branches, obviously melting into this nature.
I spend a few months on each work.
Nature takes the first step.
Nature sows what appears later.
I love to immerse myself in this world like a child,
I love to observe it.
I love to imagine all kinds of
stories, small creatures, microworlds,
so this actually began when I was a child.
And now I'm literally transplanting
this land of my imagination in to these glass capsules.
There was no particular mission related to these forests;
they were a response to human longing,
whose vastness I didn't even comprehend.
And my forests have awakened this reaction.
These were amazing meetings, amazing stories,
when the president of a large bank came to meet me.
A man who had done it all:
He had a family, a career, money.
He was even broght to tears when
he realized that his grandparents had showed
him the forest, and he couldn't
remember when he had last been in a forest
with is kids, or if he had been at all.
