Tottenham set to sign Juan Foyth after agreeing deal with Estudiantes

Tottenham have agreed a deal with Estudiantes for Argentina U20 defender Juan Foyth, Sky Sports News understands.

Spurs boss Mauricio Pochettino has been targeting Foyth for much of the summer although, for a while, it appeared the move was dead because of the Argentinian sides valuation of the player.

Pochettino decided to withdraw from talks after Estudiantes chief Juan Sebastian Veron - who played with Pochettino for Argentina - demanded more money for the 19-year-old.

Foyth is rated one of the most talented young defenders in world football and Spurs move for him had also been complicated by interest from big-spending Ligue 1 side Paris Saint-Germain.

But it would appear the ball-playing defender has instead chosen to come to the Premier League after speaking with Pochettino - he would become their second summer signing after Ajaxs Davinson Sanchez.

Speaking to Argentinian newspaper El Dia, Foyth is quoted as saying: Its a club that bets on the young and I think Im going to have a chance to play.

I also spoke with Mauricio Pochettino and I liked what he said. It was what helped me decide that Tottenham was the right place to continue my career.

He told me to go, train and that I would be involved I would play. He also told me what the club was like, what job idea it had..

News Sport:Ousmane Dembele officially a Barcelona player after signing five-year deal - Duration: 2:48.

Ousmane Dembele officially a Barcelona player after signing five-year deal

Ousmane Dembele has been presented as a Barcelona player after completing the formalities on his move from Borussia Dortmund.

The clubs announced agreement had been reached on a £97m deal on Sunday and Dembele completed his medical on Monday afternoon in the Catalan city.

There was a brief delay, with almost 20,000 fans waiting around for a couple of extra hours, before the 20-year-old appeared alongside Barcelona president Josep Maria Bartomeu to put pen-to-paper on a five-year contract.

Im really pleased to form part of the Barca family, Dembele said after signing a deal that could eventually earn the Bundesliga side nearly £135m.

I have always wanted to play for Barca since I was a kid. I watched all their matches. Im really happy to now be part of the best club in the world with the best players in the world.

I hope to win lots of trophies and titles here. Im hoping forward to a good year, a successful year and looking forward to playing here in this stadium..

The forwards transfer is the second highest of all time, just behind the £200m Paris Saint-Germain paid Barcelona for Neymar earlier this summer.

Dembele joined Borussia Dortmund for £13m from French side Rennes last summer and went on to score 10 goals in 50 appearances in his debut season at the Westfalenstadion.

He could make his Barcelona debut after the international break with Ernesto Valverdes men facing city rivals Espanyol in their next La Liga game on September 9.

Dortmund have signed Dynamo Kiev playmaker Andriy Yarmolenko as Dembeles replacement, paying £23m for the Ukraine international.
