Liverpool transfer news: Barcelona have NOT agreed £148m Philippe Coutinho fee

Barcelona have had three bids rejected by Liverpool for this summer, with the latest thought to be around £118million.

The La Liga giants looked to be edging closer to the Brazilian, with Catalonia-based publication Sport reporting yesterday that Liverpool agreed a £148m fee.

But Balague has shot down those reports, claiming Liverpool are not willing to enter negotiations with Barca for their star man.

He posted on Twitter: "No matter what Catalan press, LFC insist on Coutinho: they not negotiating, no meetings, no conference calls, no putting a price.

Coutinho handed in a transfer request via e-mail earlier this month in a bid to force through a move to the Nou Camp.

But Liverpool owners Fenway Sports Group swiftly turned it down and issued a statement that the 25-year-old playmaker is going nowhere.

The former Inter Milan ace, who cost Liverpool £8. 5m back in 2014, is yet to play for the Reds this season due to a back injury and a current bout of sickness.

Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp reiterated the owners' stance on Coutinho after yesterday's 4-0 win over Arsenal, insisting he is not for sale.

He told Sky Sports: "It is not about confidence in this situation, it is about what the owners have said. That is the situation.

"There is no problem like this. You can imagine, if he had been a part of this game it probably would not have been worse huh?. "Today we had 11 outstanding individual performances.

Liverpool transfer news: Virgil van Dijk dumps agent to force through move

Liverpool have been frustrated in their attempts to sign Van Dijk from Southampton all summer. Chelsea have recently emerged as strong contenders to sign the Dutch international while Arsenal could reportedly reignite their interest in the former Celtic star.

Southampton are seemingly reluctant to do business with Liverpool after the Merseyside club were forced to apologise for their approach earlier in the summer.

At the time, Liverpool stated they had ended their interest but Van Dijk's transfer request earlier this month has supposedly changed that. And the claim the 26-year-old has taken another step to force through a move away from Southampton.

It is reported the contract Van Dijk signed last summer included a clause that would ensure he was unable to leave for at least two years.

But the centre-back is determined to break the terms of his contract in order to force through a move. Van Dijk prefers a move to Anfield but Southampton have insisted they are not selling any of their star players this summer.

Southampton chairman Ralph Krueger recently came out to try and offer some clarity on the situation by stating the club are heading in a different direction. "Virgil is not for sale in this window and it's not personal," Krueger said.

"It's not about him, it's about an overall much, much, much bigger picture - a change of course for Southampton. "We will not sell players we don't want to leave this summer. We are very, very adamant about carrying this through.".
