Liverpool transfer news: Virgil van Dijk has already agreed terms over move - Duration: 2:39.Liverpool transfer news: Virgil van Dijk has already agreed terms over move
Jurgen Klopp faces a busy final few days of the transfer window as he looks to bolster his squad with new faces. Dominic Solanke, Mohamed Salah and Andy Robertson have all joined Liverpool this summer.
And the Merseyside club finally snapped up a deal to sign Naby Keita from RB Leipzig, although the midfielder will not join until next summer.
But Liverpool have continued their pursuit of Virgil van Dijk with Klopp keen to bring in another defender before Thursday's deadline.
The Reds have so far been frustrated in their attempts to do business with Southampton, after being forced to apologise earlier in the summer regarding their approach for the Dutch international.
Southampton have repeatedly insisted the defender is not for sale, with Chelsea, Arsenal and Manchester City also rumoured to be interested in his signature. But the claim Van Dijk already agreed terms over a move to Anfield several weeks ago.
The Saints reportedly gave no such permission for talks to take place between Liverpool and their player.
Van Dijk has currently been training with Southampton's under-23 side and has not been involved in any of the first three Premier League games of the season.
And Southampton midfielder Steven Davis insists the 26-year-old may not walk straight back into the starting line-up should he remain at St Mary's. "If he comes back he's going to have to fight for that place again," Davis said.
"But hopefully we can keep him because it will make our squad stronger. Jurgen Klopp faces a busy final few days of the transfer window as he looks to bolster his squad with new faces.

North Korea accuses U.S. of driving peninsula to "explosion" |News General - Duration: 4:05.North Korea accuses U.S. of driving peninsula to "explosion"
North Korea accused the United States on Tuesday of driving the Korean peninsula towards an extreme level of explosion and declared that it was justified in responding with tough counter-measures.
The combative statement came hours North Korea fired a ballistic missile over Japans northern Hokkaido island into the sea, drawing a sharp reaction from Japan, the United States, South Korea and other states.
Han Tae Song, North Koreas ambassador to the U.N. in Geneva, did not explicitly refer to his countrys latest test. But he said U.S. pressure and provocative acts would only give his country grounds to take unspecified measures.
It is an undeniable fact that the U.S.
is driving the situation of the Korean peninsula towards an extreme level of explosion by deploying huge strategic assets around the peninsula, by conducting a series of nuclear war drills and maintaining nuclear freeze and blackmail for over half a century, Han told the Conference on Disarmament in Geneva.
Fears have grown over North Koreas development of missiles and nuclear weapons since Pyongyang test-launched intercontinental ballistic missiles (ICBMs) in July. Those fears worsened after Trump warned that North Korea would face fire and fury if it threatened the United States.
Joint U.S.-South Korea military drills, currently taking place on the peninsula, are part of long-standing U.S. hostile policy towards the Democratic Peoples Republic of Korea (DPRK), Han said.
Now that the U.S. has openly declared its hostile intention towards the Democratic Peoples Republic of Korea, by waging aggressive joint military exercises despite repeated warnings.
my country has every reason to respond with tough counter-measures as an exercise of its right to self defence, Han said. should be wholly responsible for the catastrophic consequences it will entail..
U.S. disarmament ambassador Robert Wood, speaking to reporters, said that North Koreas test was another provocation and big concern to be discussed by the U.N. Security Council later in the day.
My country and I know a number of other countries are going to continue to demand that North Korea ends these provocative acts and take a different path, Wood told the forum.
The United States has an iron-clad commitment to its allies, he added. Both Wood and South Koreas envoy Kim Inchul called for Pyongyang to resume talks on giving up its nuclear arsenal.
Denuclearisation is the only way forward to guarantee security and economic viability instead of continuing with provocations which are unacceptable, Kim said. Japans envoy Nobushige Takamizawa condemned the missile test noting it also posed a danger to aviation and navigation.

Liverpool Transfer News: Van Dijk update, Ox rejects Chelsea claim, no Lemar-Coutinho link - Duration: 2:50.Liverpool Transfer News: Van Dijk update, Ox rejects Chelsea claim, no Lemar-Coutinho link
Liverpool transfer target Virgil Van Dijk will consider offers other than one the Reds put to him, according to pundit Jim Beglin.
The wantaway Southampton star, 26, has also been linked with moves to Chelsea, Manchester City and Arsenal this summer. And Beglin has offered his take on the Holland international's situation during an exchange with a Reds fan on Twitter.
Referring to Van Dijk, a supporter said to him: He is Liverpool's. In response, Beglin revealed: Not yet. Meanwhile, Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain has reportedly turned down the chance to join Chelsea from Arsenal.
The England midfielder, 24, has entered the final 12 months of his contract and wants to leave the Emirates. And the BBC claim his preferred destination is Anfield - rather than Stamford Bridge.
Oxlade-Chamberlain is apparently concerned he'd have had to play wing-back if he joined Chelsea instead of Liverpool.
Finally, Liverpool's pursuit of Monaco ace Thomas Lemar is not linked to Barcelona's interest in Philippe Coutinho.
At least that's what insiders have told Brazilian journalist Dassler Marques with deadline day looming large. On Twitter, he revealed: On Coutinho: sources deny that Liverpools negotiations for backup (Lemar and etc) are connected to the sale to Barca.
No link. Regardless of whether Liverpool are targeting Lemar as Coutinho's replacement or not, the 21-year-old Frenchman is likely to cost more than £60m. Thats the end of our news for today.
