Good morning, today I will talk about the "HD Tune ", a free program that includes

several utilities for your hard drive, as for example, check your speed,

see its temperature, or check its status.

and even if on your official page you see that has a Pro version that is paid, the

that we are going to download is the normal version, which is free and brings almost the same options.

I already have it downloaded, so I'm going to proceed to install it, I say yes,

we give it to next, we accept the terms, we keep giving it to next, here we mark

the box to create shortcut on the desktop, and we will continue with the installation to finish it.

Now we open the program, and I tell you each one of its functions.

Being the most visible data, the can see the temperature of the hard drives,

than this number here.

And to select the hard drive of which we want see the information, we just have to indicate it

in this tab here, and they will appear all our units, whether it is

of internal and external hard drives.

In my case for example I have 4 hard drives As you can see, one Thoshiba of 1Tb, another

600Gb secondary disk, an SSD disk of 120Gb, and an external hard drive that I have

connected by USB of 1Tb.

Although, something that you have to take into account, is that if you look, I can see the temperature

of my internal hard drives, but when selecting the external hard drive does not come out, this being

something normal, since that data is only provided with the Pro version of the program.

Although usually, the temperature of a External hard drive is not something that usually worries

Once this has been clarified, I begin to comment the rest of the options, and first of all we have

the "Benchmark" tab, with which we can do a speed test.

For this, once we have selected the disc hard, we just have to click on the button

that says "Star", and as we see the program we will be marking both the maximum speed

as the minimum reading.

As is logical if I select my hard drive SSD, the reading speed is very much

greater, than if I choose one of my hard drives mechanics

In addition, this speed test works by supposedly as much as internal hard drives,

as with any external hard drive or even USB memories that we have connected to our

PC

As you can see, it takes a few minutes to finish if we want to do the complete test, but if

we leave it until the end, it will also indicate us what has been the average speed of reading,

which is the data that interests us the most, as the access time, or the percentage

of the CPU that has been used.

This test is very useful if we want to know which of our hard drives is the most

fast, to use that as our disk principal.

It is also important to say that for that the data is as accurate as possible

Ideally, we do not use the PC during the course of the test, since if we do other

things at the same time could influence the result.

Continuing with the program options, then we have the tab "Info",

that gives us some information about our hard disk, although it is not very relevant,

what will happen directly to the third tab, the one that says "Health".

This tab is the most useful when it comes to know the status of our hard drive, and

for this we have to look at all the parameters come to us in OK, as you can see

here.

Also right at the end of the whole we can also see what it says "Health Status", and if we

OK mark in green, is that the health of your Hard disk is good.

Also if we look down to the left says "Powe On Time", and that data gives us

a track of the time of use of our disk hard.

For example, if my hard drive was selected of 640 GB that is an older disk, we see

that the figure marks almost 14 thousand, but in change yes I check my other hard drive from

1Tb which is newer, just mark a few 5500, or in the case of my SSD hard disk that

it's also relatively new, time it is even lower.

And finally we have the tab that says "Error Scan", in the case of a utility

that will check the state of the sectors from our hard drive, looking for blocks

that are damaged, or with a high time Reading.

For this we select the hard disk that we want to analyze, and if blocks are coming out

of green color is that that sector of the disc is in good condition, whereas if it does not come out

one in red is a sign that is damaged.

This error checking can be done with any connected storage unit

to our team, be it an internal hard drive, as those that we connect externally by

USB, and even a Pendrive or an SD card.

As you can see, scanning is quite slow what you have to have some patience, if

well in case you're in a hurry, too you can select the option, Quick Scan,

checking this box here.

And as we will see next, now only it takes a few seconds to check the disk,

although in return, this method is less precise that if we choose to do a scan

normal, although it allows us to get an idea fast status of the hard disk.
