Hey yo, audio-heads!
This is the LOUD SOUND channel, and you're watching LOUD NEWS.
Here, we tell you about the interesting and recent stuff going on in car audio.
And in today's issue, we'll tell you about the news sub released by EDGE,
the extremely windy Chevy Lacetti
and - traditionally - will draw the results of several competitions.
That's it!
Now we are absolutely sure to say that the 2018 competitive season is over.
This news ain't no fun,
but we still got some interesting stuff coming up for us for the next 6 months.
New projects are waiting to be built
and popular projects are waiting to change owners.
For instance, very recently, in his Instagram, Rustam Kasimov
announced that his '12 is trading owners.
But, he noted, the project stays in the South of Russia.
Another car sale announcement was published, this time on Vk.
Dima Dinov's Toyota Probox with a complete Avatar-powered system
and a 4-contour pneumatic suspension is waiting for a new owner.
And Ando has heated up the interest of him building whole two projects.
A truck and a '13.
[A]: Guys, just so you know, we also have a '13.
[A]: Here it is.
Like I said, the season's just ended, and this is how much stuff's happened since.
But let's draw some competition results.
It's worth telling.
September 22, Krasnodar.
The AMT Eurasia finals did not go that smooth.
The matter was the fire that started in the trunk of Team R2V's Cherokee.
Luckily, it was put out on time.
- Two amps burnt down, both Pride,
- and one battery unit is simply numb.
The Marine's HUNTER by Persona Studio
which we covered back in issue @2 of our news
finally saw the light.
I'll be honest. The project ended up one -- F*CK! - of hardcore.
With 9 counts of Pride T12 subs, 52 pieces of Ruby 8,
and a result over 163 dB.
That one is hard to miss.
Btw, after a continuous 'all-in' playing session,
one of the amps did crack a bit.
Pride Appolo smoked up.
- Put it out with your hat!
But after a rerun, the amp came on as usual.
And, according to the guys, has been working okay since.
Why'd it start to emit smoke? No clue.
Pride kinda did heat up the finals, huh?
I mean, literally HEAT.
Get ready to wish they'd have given it to you.
Because the contest the format held was ruthless.
You had to toss HUs into a box.
Obviously, the ones that missed would break in pieces.
The winner, tho, got a new Pioneer HU.
The SPL Expert championship went to a Priora from Orenburg.
The winning result was 155.61 dB.
The SPL Monster champion is Arty with his Hummer
resulting in 163.1 dB.
And the Champion of Russia in SPL Extreme is Rustam Kasimov and his GAZelle
with the result of 174.93 dB.
Next day, Rostov-on-Don hosted the dB Drag finals.
This event gathered most - if not all - of Russia's top projects.
Tons of people, tons of wind, tons of playing. And booty.
All of that at one place.
The Eternity '13, Team AZ-13, Remizov's project,
The famous Magna Porta (Tsar-Door) from Pyatigorsk
which was on fire with them girls.
Team Aura, Tram Kicx, the Schoolbus,
I finally got to hear it.
Trust me, it's not just physically that it kills.
Bass-ically, too.
And if someone felt it was't enough - which I doubt -
next to meet you was Ded Vitos's wall.
That one does finish you off.
[DV]: Capisce?
Zhenya Loza's Ford made it to 175.8 dB @38 Hz
thus improving its own record.
The arrangemt's been changed, btw.
9 15" subs were traded for 16 pcs of 12" Apocalypse Neo.
- is it Apocalypse or Apocalypsis?
[V]: Listening and just sitting in here is tough, and I recommend you don't do it either.
Sergey Remizov's UAZ keeps impressing.
This time they registered the result of 181.5 dB.
making it the loudest in the Extreme class.
[J]: What a twist!
[J]: Pretty sure no one expected this.
The Deaf Bonce powered VW Caddy which was supposed to do great in Super Street X
by hitting 169 dB
in the final knockout measuring
lost its right-side window as soon as at 167 dB.
That's a loss. Runner-up.
As doors and windows must be closed for the measuring.
But they managed to surprise in the death match.
With no glass, but duct-taped doors, they managed to win the thing.
Kostya Zimin's Priora couldn't keep competing, either
since it was re-qualified from Super Street X to Extreme
by the judge Yiannis Lekkas.
As a total surprise for everyone, a guest from the US came by -
Johnathan Price.
And Anzhela Makarova a.k.a. Miss SPL
Who, btw, shot an interesting interview with Alex in the LOUD SOUND shop.
[LOUD PEOPLE]
My advice - go check it out.
The link is in the description.
An unexpected news was the termination of SPL Show as a format.
The reason behind is that the format leader Dima Dinov quit.
According to Dima, 'it won't be held the way it used to be anymore.
- But there is a possibility that it would resurface in a different form.
We'll see how it goes around spring.'
As I promised, meet the extreme and windy Chevy Lacetti
built by the couple Denis and Darya.
If you still fail to identify the project,
this photo should ring a bell for many, I believe.
This is the arrangement it started with.
[B]: BS!
With an enclosure with six Aria BZ and a 6K Ural,
the system would play 152+ dB @37 Hz
and earned quite a few prizes back then already.
The guys didn't sit tight, of course.
The kept experimenting with both arrangement and hardware.
The dream figure was 160+ on that screen.
Eclosure - check. A wooden BP4 for two Deaf Bonce 418 - check.
The one option left was BP6.
Once they laid hand on the welder, they made the cage for the arrangement.
Now only the small stuff was left.
Cover it with plywood, do a nice design - and Go!
'Happy' is an understatement
for what they felt when they saw the dreamt 160+ on the screen
with 12 pcs of 12" Deaf Bonce of series 27.
Gotta say, the system turned out pretty universal.
I heard it myself.
A hairtrick at 22 Hz? Here you go.
Higher pitch show-off at about 162 dB? Easy!
Btw, a few months back the guys moved down to Rostov from Kazan.
And now whoever wants can come to a gathering
and listen your guts off.
The guys never say no.
[M]: Kicks ass at infra-low frequencies only.
[SUBSCRIBER PROJECTS]
[H]: Attention! A bike made 117.29 dB.
[H]: A BIKE! 117.29 dB.
[H]: A bicycle!
[H]: This is Lvl 80 craze.
- What a twist!
Suck it, bike audio haters!
While some people were not taking bike audio seriously,
guys gave no crap and reached for the results.
And this is the result Dmitriy Medvedev showed
with his walled bike.
[DM]: I would say, these are nice results.
[B]: Cut the BS!
turns out I was right when I said that --
'I won't be surprised if 5 years from now people would do doors on bikes.
Late in July, after visiting a BTL competition with his Priora,
which, btw, ain't no joke, either
and looks nice was hand-made --
Dima noticed the discipline called bike sound.
It was devoted to 2-, 3- and more -wheeled vehicles.
And then it all started to heat up.
Ater finding out that this class's max result is only 105 dB,
he decided to build somethig of his own.
But no one had any idea how to do it
and making it the traditional way wasn't any challenging anymore.
And amazing people feels good.
A teeny heads up --
he killed it!
Catches the eye AF.
Even Johnathan Price checked it out.
After some measuring and building the box out of grandma's scrap,
different width plywood --
- Ah, that would do.
it became clear that driving this bulk is impossible.
The bike's total weight was over 130 kg (~290 lb).
To make riding it possible,
guys added some barrow wheels.
After trying out a bunch of names for the project,
they guys made their choice which is -- Misha, some help?
[M]: Loud Beer Lard (?)
-That sucked, Misha. Start over.
[M]: Loud Beer Lare.
Which was supposed to be THIS.
Dima said, some people call it
Lord Beard Oh-F*ck! What kinda name is that?
The system composition that brought the championship
was four T-34 tweeters, two MOMO 716
two psc of 817 and four 815 mid-range speakers.
Those rare ones, with the bullet.
The next up is a project by Aleksey Repin.
It's an oldie Ford Focus, that of the 1st generation.
I didn't say 'oldie' for nothing.
I mean, the car's condition
was a numb reminder the car'd been through a lot over the years.
And as you can tell it had seen some sh*t.
After the body was restored and repainted,
these guys decided to build a project that could run for hours
without any critical destructive impact on the body.
Of course, they craved lots of wind.
And some kick-ass low-range within the 18-22 Hz range.
That's why they chose a BP6 arrangement
and four 18" Pride ST subwoofers.
For monoblocks they chose two stand-alone Pride 15K.
The system turned out exactly as designed.
But soon that wasn't enough anymore.
Next on the target list was the result.
After hours of work and dozens sleepless nights
the system reached 163.5 dB @ 37 Hz.
This is the official result registered at the dB Drag finals.
Shocked by the result, guys started working on the system's stability.
That would enale them to hit 160+ throughout the whole frequency range.
That's why the system was replaced with one of six 15" subs,
also from the ST series.
Two 25K monoblocks and 17 lithium-titanate batteries
with the total capacity of 680 A/h,
which gives us an even line throughout the range.
161.3 dB @ 25 Hz, 163.5 dB @ 35 Hz,
and 161 sharp @ 45 Hz.
Summed up, the system result is 648.6 dB.
It's a record of Russia.
Which, btw, puts them only 1.4 dB away from the Loza Bros' armour truck.
Please, note, this is no armour, just a brace.
[A]: I used to think bad of low Ladas with pneumatics and music --
[A]: nice music, btw.
[A]: because I never understood them.
[A]: Recently, I got in contact with some guys -- you might've seen that '13 in my Instagram.
[A]: 'We'll show you,' - they said.
[A]: But I don't really get what it's about...
[A]: ...what it's about...
[A]: Whoa...
[A]: Bets spot on the balcony!
I think everyone's recognized the '13 by the Bass Security studio.
If not, we'll tell you all about it now.
As the great Alcantara appreciator said --
[A]: I'd cover this with Alcantara. Ooh, this is so bad...
Nay, not that.
[A]: At the moment, this is the most expensive front-wheel drive Lada
[A]: for sale on Avto.ru.
At the beginning, the '13 spent a while as an SQ project
which showed nice results.
Championships in RASCA and AMT need no further explanations, do they?
But last year, everything changed.
All the SQ hardware was sold out,
and the '13 was completely turned into a loud daily system.
To my opinion, it was a good call.
I mean, the swag looks like that doesn't really go with the calm SQ format.
They built a reinforced wall for four 15" Pride ST.
Custom door covers were crafted to house 12 pairs of Ruby 8
and eight pairs of 25 Neo.
A 4-contour air suspension with remote control
[A]: I'm shocked. How can you lift that bucket off a keychain?
[A]: But then they told me it was no news and everyone had it.
[A]: But that's what really surprised me.
15" wheels, complete car painting and a lot more.
All of that done in a couple months.
Sure, in their competitive performance problems would pop up all he time
such as the alternator, or the door frames would tear
or the windscreen would crash.
Well, sorry. 160 dB of sound pressure can come on a lot worse.
But it was so worth it as the season cup harvest was rich.
Just look at Anton's emotions!
[A]: How do they ride with mirrors like these?
[A]: [f*ck]
[A]: Perfect steering control.
[A]: Oh, crap!
This year, the system has been changed a bit.
The frontal part is not Ruby as it used to be
but Solo v.2.
Also two Pride 10K were replaced with one Pride 25K.
The looks were upgraded, too.
They had cool custom lighting installed
and the subs were pushed back behind the front pillars
in order to comply with the dB Drag rules.
[NEW PRODUCTS]
A big surprise from EDGE!
They released a whole series of product lines fit for a bunch of tasks.
Well, let's go one by one.
The lowest but the most affordable line called dB
has only one size subs - 12"
and has the following parameters:
a double copper coil with 2.2 Ohm impedance,
a cast basket with anti-resonance coating,
massive lead-in wires sawn into the double-spaced Nomex centering spider.
And the RMS of 700 W.
I'd like to pay special attention to the fact
that the whole new sub line is equipped with new generation U35 ferrite magnets.
They provide higher power response and sensitivity while being smaller.
Magnets like those are rarely used in the making of subwoofers.
U20 and U25 are more common there.
Also, the cones for all the subs would be made of unpressed cellulose
which affects the durability without enlarging the moving unit.
The elder brother for this line would be subs issued with the same DB label
but with the affix -X.
This one has two size options: 12" and 15".
And this is where the interesting part starts.
The brand prepared individual parameters for all the series, this one and up.
For instance, both sizes have unpressed cellulose cones
with an identical lip, stitched and made of porous materials.
Cast baskets, same impedance of 2.2 Ohm.
But the motor and the RMS are different.
The 12" version has a 900 W RMS while the 15" ona has 1100 W.
The Street series is more universal.
You can use them in your daily systems as well as for some competitive action.
The size selection also deserves attention.
It includes 10", 12", 15" and 18".
Different characteristics for each.
The coils are copper for all sizes but the coiling is different.
For the 10" it's 40 mm, 50 mm for the 12",
55 mm for the 15" and 65 mm for the 18" version.
The centering spiders are different, too.
A double-spaced one is used in the 10" sub
a 3-spaced - for the 12" one, and 4-spaced spiders for the 15" and 18" ones.
The 10" one has only 2.2 Ohm impedance.
For all the rest you get to choose between 1.1 and 2.2 Ohm.
But you're all dying for the RMS, I think.
Lowest to highest. 1300 W, 1500 W, 1800 W and 2 kW respectively.
A cast basket, a long-drive suspension, and clamping terminalsare used in all sizes.
The pre-top line - Extreme - impresses you with its parameters right away.
[M]: Holy Moly!
For all the sizes - those are 12", 15" and 18" --
the company claims the RMS of 3 kW.
an American coil with 70 mm flat aluminum coiling.
And the resonance frequency reaches 27 Hz.
It's safe to say you're sure in for some hair tricking and wind.
[M]: OMFG, the wheel is all wobbling.
Also, this series is using 8 Ga lead-ins instead of clamping terminals.
Six packs of Nomex spiders and a powerful motor support the serious claim.
And the last - the top - line is called Unlimited.
According to the producer, this is one of the largest subs in the world.
No way you can call it a regular daily sub.
I mean, this sub can reach the drive of over 65 mm without breaking a sweat.
and the claimed RMS is 5 kW for all size options
There's three of them - 12", 15" and 18".
In order to support the sub's long drive
it was equipped with a 10" 6-space spider.
And this sub has all the bacon I've mentioned so far.
That includes the longest 4" 8-layer American coil
stitched long-drive suspension, the lead-ins,
a cast basket, obviously.
And lots of other sprinkles.
What a surprise, EDGE!
I'm dying to see them in action at some competitions.
October 13, Saratov. Another LOUD SOUND grand opening.
Over 1000 people came to see the opening.
After the ceremony, the photoshoot and the signing,
everyone moved over to the parking lot of the 'Moy Noviy' mall.
There, they had a chance to enjoy the LOUD SOUND '13,
the Deaf Bonce Kalina and other projects by people from Saratov and beyond.
Alex asked me to thank personally everyone who came to the event.
He genuinely hopes that everyone who wanted an autograph,
a pic or a chance to sit in the '13, were able to do all of that.
He did his best.
Also, huge thanls to the 'Moy Noviy' mall
for providing a place and letting them make some noise.
The shop's address is 55 Rabochaya str.
Apart from a huge selection of car audio components
you can also get our branded merchandise.
Cellphone cases, mugs, stickers, branded clothes and, of course, Basik.
[B]: Heyy!
Special thanks to Alex Rusinov who was making photos and videos of the opening.
