Hello! My name is Jose Manuel Cedeño
In this opportunity, we present a summary of our host families
which are preparing both, physical and spiritually,
to receive all pilgrims coming to parish days at Chitre's Dioceses.

Do you have WYD background?
Yes, we did know about the WYD
A while back about 2005 when my brother participated in Cologne, Germany
Then, he shared with us all his spiritual and learning experiences
with new brothers living a smilar experience with Jesus
and from different nationalities too.
In the school Carla studied,
Nuestra Señora Del Buen Consejo Junior High.
They have always participated as pilgrims in such important activity.
We also heard about it when another group of the school went to Cologne, Germany
and after that, in 2013 when Carla participated in WYD Rio de Janeiro.
We know about the WYD because of the effort and participation
of the young people in our Parish "San Miguel Arcangel de Monagrillo"
whom, with passion and dedication carried out raising fund activities
to be able to go to such distance place in Cracow.
Do you remember any WYD experience?
Well. When we arrived in Krakow, in Mnikow. It was very rewarding.
We got surprised when they welcomed us with the Panama National Anthem.
That was a unique experience to be able to listen to it so far from home
and feel back then really nostalgic because our families and Panama.
I truly got surprise with that unique experience
The same as our host family, the family treatment, the fondness, the food.
It was very meaningful for us and our lives
I had the chance to see the Pope very close twice
I had the chance to go to a favela to evangelize with a group of friends,
and the last day, in the Vigil;
I slept along with my friends at the beach.
We didn't have sheets.
In fact, we were not prepare, and that was shocking for me.
Why did you get interested in becoming host Family?
Since young, my family used to host youngster
coming to the ENRJ [Big Youth Meeting in town]
organized by father Segundo Familiar Cano [R.I.P],
and well as a consequence of this,
once we realized of this organization the WYD 2019
as a family we immediately decided to host young people from other countries.
Honestly, it is going to be a pleasure and an honor
to have you here in my place as part of my family.
We decided to be host family
to provide shelter to the pilgrims,
to collaborate with the church
and also take part on this huge event for Panama.
Well, as Anthony just mentioned
his brother went to a WYD, and was fostered in a host family,
and we also wanted to have the same experienced he lived
with the pilgrims coming to our home.
How is the preparation for a host family?
Well, we are also getting ready to receive the pilgrims.
We already attended some preparatory meetings to learn about them,
and at the same time, we are preparing our home.
The bedroom where they will stay at.
We even attached a bathroom especially for them.
We want them to feel as comfy as the can at our place.
We are preparing to receive the brother pilgrims enlarging home,
and making it bigger so they can feel comfortable.
Furthermore, in the spiritual we are trying to share more,
We are preparing for WYD, learning new languages in the school.
And as family we are also preparing a bedroom
for the pilgrims we are having
so they can feel comfortable just like home.
Here at home, we are doing some arrangements as well.
My son's room will be used to lodge our guests.
We tried to make it as welcoming as possible
and then, they feel comfortable.
We know that at the end of each day,
our guests will need some rest.
To receive them in our house in the best way and that they feel at home.
Every Friday, I am taking a catechesis in preparation for WYD,
and in addition, I am learning French to communicate with them,
and the many countries that also speak that language.
How does it feel, to receive a pilgrim?
We are happy, we wish the day come very soon.
It will be a significant event for all Panamanians.
Not only for us, but for every all Catholics.
Receiving so many energize people,
eager to meet Jesus, to follow him
and to keep doing all the good things they bring from their homes.
And we are very happy to welcome them,
we wish and look forward to contributing more with anything needed.
And when we give them farewell, they return satisfied.
Because our little but significant support was grateful and valued.
We are very happy,
delighted and anxious to meet the pilgrims that will stay in our house.
My family and I feel very glad to host the pilgrims coming from other countries,
we´ll treat them as any another family member.
What are your expectations about WYD?
We hope that the event will be unforgettable.
The event will also bring a lot of unity, much strength and joy to the Catholic Church.
My expectations about the WYD
are that the organization can fulfill their goal, which are the pilgrims.
I hope people grow in faith in Jesus Christ
and become transmitters in their home countries an all the provinces.
And that every day the church of God spread more and above all to gain faith.
We are sure that WYD will be a success.
Here in our community, and the parish,
we are waiting for visitors pilgrims.
We would like they learn About Panamanians traditions,
especially the ones done here in the countryside,
the far south of the country.
In the same way that we love our children in this family,
in the same way, we hope they share the love,
love based on the faith of Jesus Christ.
Not only they take in a message of love,
moreover from the WYD experience.
Young people will learn about the culture of panama
and later share it back in their home countries.
What benefits will lead WYD 2019 in Panama?
The world youth day will leave a lot of new experiences,
young people will go more to church,
they will integrate catholic groups at churches.
Even change their own expectations about the people.
Probably they do not go to church,
and they are not consistent, and do not practice,
but with this experience in our country,
it will be a blessing for pilgrims and for us.
I believe the WYD is already giving benefits.
Because the community is working together more than ever.
We are working in different commissions,
all of which necessary for the development of this activity,
for instance during the community preparation days,
and even after the WYD,
I do believe the community will grow spiritually, as church members,
and being better families for the entire parish.
I think that this experience it is bringing a lot of benefits to our families in the entire country.
Mostly, due to the cultural interchange with the young people.
Also, it is going to be a moment of economical fluency.
Moreover, the spiritual change of the hearts of youngers once they will be back in the lord's path.

We as Panamanians,
we are simple people, very humble,
we are known by the good treatment we give to foreigners,
the warm living together,
we connect with people quickly,
and I am very sure, they will see it
during the days of WYD here in panama.
