Manchester United boss Mourinho is wanted at Real Madrid to replace Julen Lopetegui, who was sacked following their 5-1 defeat to Barcelona on Sunday

When Mourinho took charge of the club in 2010, he was pitted against a Barcelona side at the peak of their powers
Pep Guardiola had landed them the Champions League the previous year and also edged out Los Blancos in the race for the La Liga title
Mourinho, though, lost the battle but won the war. In his first season at the club, Barcelona won the La Liga and Champions League again
Real were beaten three times along the way. But Mourinho eventually got the players to buy into his methods, producing a Real side slick and stubborn in equal measure

And the Daily Record claim Mourinho's triumph over Barcelona is why Florentino Perez would love to have him back
