Hello Pathfinders and friends of the AY park.

It's always a privilege and an opportunity to visit this place

a place where we build memories, experiences

and contributed to our discipleship growth.

But unfortunately, the motive that bring us here

it's not a happy one.

Our hearts are sad and we will see why.

On 13th October a storm with remarkable ability of destruction reached the national territory.

According with the Portuguese Institute of the Sea and the atmosphere (IPMA),

the storm Leslie has proved to be the most powerful hurricane to reach Portugal since 1842,

setting a new historical maximum.

Its destructive winds reached close to 180 km/h in the district of Coimbra

and in the locality of Costa de Lavos.

Interestingly this destructive impact was not foreseen.

But on 13th October in the evening and despite the warnings,

the storm arrived relentlessly, leaving the communities that were at the center of its passage without reaction.

The Adventist Youth park located in Costa de Lavos, also suffered the destructive impact of the storm Leslie

to enormous sadness of AY in Portugal.

Buildings, roads, electrical installations, logistics content, were seriously compromised.

This park has been hosting for over 60 year,

thousands of young people and adults from the most diverse points of the country and abroad,

working in 4 seasons of the year in spite of the antiquity and the fragility of its premises.

It also offers the most diverse programs that include multiple areas of Christian discipleship.

It is a space of memories, social gatherings of spiritual development.

It's a timeless social and spiritual network.

The destruction of its infrastructure and the lack of resources,

threatens the continuity of this precious legacy.

It is true that the destruction of the park through the elements of nature is a major problem,

but problems can also serve as an opportunity for the power of GOD to manifest.

A new project begins to blossom and we challenge all the friends of the park to come on board.

A pathfinder has already given the motto for this movement.

Despite the devastating image we have just witnessed,

where the infrastructures of our beloved AY park

have been seriously compromised

we believe in GOD's providence.

The Chinese have an ideogram

that is attributed to the word "crisis"

which also can be translated as opportunity

and we believe that crises can also represent an opportunity.

Circumstances can be overcome by GOD and by men.

And so, we want to invite you to help us.

There are several ways you can help us,

you can donate yourself through the volunteer service

and another way is through a financial donation.

Through the description that will soon pass in the footer,

you will have the opportunity to contribute to a new project

that will soon rise in this place.

We believe it will be the dream of men

but above all the dream of GOD.

In the book of Jeremiah 29:11, we find a text

that tells us that GOD's plans for us

are plans of peace and not plans of evil

and here, in this park, we find a future with hope.

We're counting with your help.
