Hello! Welcome to Panther News - Middle School. My name is Damien. My name is
Karlie. First off, First day of school!
Welcome back!
Sports, BEAT, and ASR. We want you to be involved to help your school!
Elementary, are you ready to go back to school?
That looked like fun. Our first day of school and the barbecue. I missed it but
that would have been enjoyable.
Let's look now at German Shepherd dogs.
Hello! I want to talk to you about dogs.
German shepherds, did you know that a small German Shepherd lives 9 to 13 years.
Their bite force is about 238 pounds of pressure.
The male weigh approximately 66 to 88 pounds. A female weighs 49 to 58 pounds.
It can be a service dog and help deaf people and help blind people.
German Shepherds can work for the police, the military, the Navy, and search-and-rescue and
find drugs to keep people safe and track them. Thank you for watching us!
Bye-bye
I have that kind of dog at home. Now there is the history of Halloween.
Welcome back to Panther News! My name is Daevanie.
My name is Leslie. We're going to talk about the history of Halloween.
How did Halloween get started? It began as a festival of Samhain. It's a festival of the
dead. One hundred fifty-seven million people prepare for a Halloween festival.
How is it celebrated? It's celebrated by many Americans with Halloween costumes.
In some countries, they don't celebrate Halloween
like we do in Mexico, Great Britain, Ireland, Scotland, Germany, and China.
It started on the 1970. Happy Halloween!
Very interesting that you researched Halloween and how it was founded.
Next, we'd like to see the next video about inside Earth.
Inside Earth Hello, my name is Damien. Hello, my name is Alan. We're gonna talk
about what is inside our Earth. We learned a lot from the Katie's class we had in
science. We're talking about the earth being covered in water and grass. There's
also a thing called the continental crust. Sometimes, it breaks a little.
There's also an upper mantle
and that is closer to the surface.
There's also a lower mantle, outer core, and inner core. You can see those shapes and
how it's divided and where it's warm and
the inner core is much more warm. Now we can talk about gravity. That's how we
stay on the earth. Gravity helps people to connect to the earth.
Thanks for watching us and have a great weekend.
My class learned about that in earth science and now we'd like to talk about
Middle School cross country.
We need to start when the gun starts. No false starts.
Are you ready? You see the finish line? Run quickly across it.
Don't stop before it. Stop past it and they'll time you.
Everyone understand? Look at the yellow flag.
Good work Damien. Thank you and thank you for those who participated in cross
country. Good job! Now we'd like to show you a video about soccer highlights
from Middle school.
Hi everyone! Hello!
Hello!
Hi, my name is Kobe. This is David and this is Jesse.
I'm middle school coach. I have some questions for you. What is the biggest
challenge this year that you've had? Well, most of the players have not had much
experience, just a few. So it's been a challenge and we've taught the basic
foundations of soccer this whole season. They've shown great improvement. To
add to that, it's been a challenge because of the number. We've had 32
players, still managing that group of kids. That's a challenge. How do you
manage that big group? It's been tough. You know, we're deaf.
Jessie can speak but you know there's a challenge. We've written notes back and
forth. It's been fun. I think the challenge is how making sure that
everyone understands, making sure that communication and that we're all on the
same page. I have to explain the other information, you know. We have to
coordinate together - as good communicators to each other. Are you
looking forward to next year? Yes, I'm looking forward to more kids. I don't
care, how big the group. It's truly enjoyable. I hope, for next year
that many of the students, not just OSD, but JGEMS as well, that they practice.
We'd like to be them to feel comfortable with the ball and not be afraid of the ball. So that the other teams
recognizes that at the beginning of the season, they were a little bit scared and
then their confidence grew, for many of them. Really, they truly improved as
players, I would say some improved. Oh yes, the improvement. last year was the first
year of experience. Lots of learning and now same with some of Jessie's comments.
Some people have grown up with soccer but some have not. It's a different
mindset. So these are new experiences. It's a fun challenge for
us. We've really enjoyed it. Thank you so much for the interview! Anything else to
add? I'd like to add we need to recruit more deaf players. JGEMS has
plenty but for OSD, we'd love to have equal numbers of our kids as well
we want more of our students from OSD but at the same time. I hope that they can tell
others about this experience as well. Great! Looking forward to next year! Thank
you so much!
I wish I could have joined soccer. Darn it!
