Manchester United have emerged as suitors for Bayern Munich playmaker Rodriguez, whose long-term future at the Allianz Arena is in doubt
The Colombia international is currently in his second season at the club having joined on loan from Real Madrid back in the summer of 2017
Rodriguez has, though, endured a turbulent time of things over in the Bundesliga under new boss Niko Kovac
Kovac's combative methods have not sat well with some players at the club with Bayern languishing behind Borussia Dortmund in the title race
As a result of his rocky relationship with his manager, Rodriguez has been linked with United
Red Devils forward Sanchez has been tipped to leave the club despite only signing from Arsenal in January
PSG are reportedly leading the race to rescue the 29-year-old from his Old Trafford nightmare
However, the Daily Post claim United are currently not pursuing Rodriguez's signature
The report does, though, say that stance could change. Nearly a year ago, United's deal for Sanchez came out of the blue
The forward was widely expected to leave for Manchester City, with Pep Guardiola aggressively pursuing his signature
But United, who had previously been uninterested, swooped to land the player from Arsenal instead
With Rodriguez, there is nothing to suggest the club will go for him. But history suggests they may do if the opportunity truly presents itself
Meanwhile, Bayern have regained some of their usual mojo recently with victories over Wolfsburg, Mainz and SV Rodinghausen
And Rodriguez thinks the win over Wolfsburg has seen them turn a corner. He said: "In a long season these things always happen
"There are bad games, there are good games. This bad phase has already gone. Now comes something good
"Hopefully the Wolfsburg win will boost our morale for the coming games. I think it'll do us good
" James Rodriguez honours: Envigado - Categoria Primero B (2007) Banfield - Primera Division Argentina: Apertura (2009) Porto - Primeira Liga (2011, 2012, 2013), Taca de Portugal (2011), Supertaca Candido de Oliveira (2012), Europa League (2011) Real Madrid - La Liga (2017), Champions League (2016, 2017), UEFA Super Cup (2014, 2016), FIFA Club World Cup (2014, 2016) Bayern Munich - Bundesliga (2018)
