Waching daily Nov 2 2018

The Belgian winger has been constantly linked with a move away from Stamford Bridge this summer with Real Madrid reportedly interested

Talks have quietened down in recent days as Madrid focus on getting Thibaut Courtois, Chelsea's goalkeeper, through the doors

Los Blancos have the upper hand when it comes to transfers with the Premier League transfer window closing on Thursday (5pm), while Spanish clubs have until August 31

That means Hazard could leave anytime between now and the end of the month, while Chelsea would have less than two days to find a replacement

But Sarri is confident of keeping hold of the 27-year-old. "We have spoken two or three times in the last two days," Sarri said

"Hazard's problem is not present now." Hazard came on as Chelsea drew 0-0 with Lyon in the International Champions Cup last night before the Blues won 5-4 on penalties

Cesc Fabregas was an unused sub at Stamford Bridge but the Spaniard has pleaded with Hazard to stay

"I won't lie, I speak to him often," Fabregas recently said. "He is the best player at the club and we need Chelsea to keep the best players

"He knows the fans love him and a player we love to play with. For sure, we want him to stay

" Chelsea are reportedly lining up Nabil Fekir with the attacking midfielder also having been linked to Liverpool

The 24-year-old underwent a medical with the Reds and was even snapped wearing their shirt in an interview with their in-house television channel in June

Liverpool reportedly remain locked in negotiations with the Lyon star but claims in Italy suggest Chelsea are in pole position

Man Utd transfer news: Paul Pogba sends text to team-mates amid Barcelona speculation - Duration: 3:17.

Pogba has been linked with a move to Barcelona with it being claimed that the La Liga champions made a bid for the Frenchman

It's believed that Barca offered £50million plus Andre Gomes and Yerry Mina in an attempt to lure the 25-year-old to the Nou Camp

And now the Daily Mail claim Pogba has text his team-mates telling them he wants to make the move to Spain

Pogba has struggled to live up to expectations at Old Trafford since rejoining from Juventus two years ago

He is Manchester United's record signing with the Red Devils having forked out £89million for the midfielder

It's also claimed that Pogba has let Manchester United vice-chairman Ed Woodward know his decision, though the club deny this

Barcelona have until August 31 to get their man with the Spanish transfer window not closing until the end of the month

Pogba's relationship with Manchester United manager Jose Mourinho has appeared strained in recent months despite the midfielder starring as United beat Manchester City in April

It's claimed that Pogba has already agreed a deal with Barcelona, where he would earn £346,000 per week, through his agent Mino Raiola

But United and Barca are still to do a deal and former Liverpool man Steve Nicol believes Mourinho should do his best to keep Pogba

"I just don't see how Man United can get rid of this guy," Nicol told ESPN FC. "We're living in an age where, when the star man has a problem with the manager, it's now the manager who goes first

"And I think that's now what could possible happen in this situation as well.  "Manchester United would be absolutely crazy to sell Pogba

"As far as Juventus are concerned, how are they going to come up the money? "And Barcelona are the same

They've recently spent £100m and they spent £120m last season with [Philippe] Coutinho

"Where are they coming up with another £100m plus the salary? So I'm not sure either of them could afford it

"But Manchester United would be crazy to let Pogba go."

Crossrail boss steps down after project delays UK news

Simon Wright will be replaced by Mark Wild, who will oversee opening of central section

Simon Wright will be replaced by Mark Wild, who will oversee opening of central section

Crossrail's chief executive is to step down, it has been announced, a week after the government agreed to a new cash injection to complete the delayed £15.4bn project.

Simon Wright will be replaced by Mark Wild, the managing director of London Underground, who will remain in charge until the opening of the central section of Crossrail, which will be known as the Elizabeth line.

The line was due to be completed in December but Crossrail announced in August that it would now take up to another year to get trains running on the underground core section. Another £650m of funding was added in June, tarnishing the Crossrail construction team's claims that the project is meeting its targets.

Last week a £350m loan was extended to Transport for London, the London mayor's transport authority, to cover a revenue shortfall caused by the delayed opening. TfL said full-time testing of the route would start soon.

Mike Brown, London's transport commissioner, said Wild had extensive experience of major projects, which would be vital for completing Crossrail safely and reliably. Wild has been a non-executive director of the Crossrail board since taking over the underground.

Questions have persisted about when TfL and the mayor, Sadiq Khan, knew that the Crossrail project would be delayed. The announcement came just three and a half months before the official opening was due, after admissions of problems with electrification and the signalling systems.

Khan has said he was told about the delay only days before the public was informed in August. But a TfL board meeting last week appeared to reveal he was told in "June and July about the additional time that would be taken".

Caroline Pidgeon, the chair of the London Assembly transport committee, told ITV News: "I don't think it's believable that the mayor of London would not have been briefed that this project was behind time and overspent."

A spokesperson for the mayor said Khan had been told of increasing cost and scheduling pressures in July, but it was only as a result of an independent review commissioned by TfL and the 29 August board meeting that he was told the schedule could not be met.

The Elizabeth line should eventually boost the capacity for passengers to travel through central London by 10%. The line will link the West End with Heathrow and Canary Wharf and serve suburbs and towns in the east and west. Once completed, the line is expected to be used by more than 200 million passengers a year.
